Internet Radio - Skidrow Studios

This is for the geeks out there interested in what we’re using to put this thing together. I started this hobby purely based on my geek fascination with how the pros do it at actual radio stations. I ran across a site called newmediagear.com and I was hooked. I wanted more than just a laptop and a bad mic. I wanted to mimic a live radio station in both ergonomics and sound.

I also realized that the content available on podcasts continues to get better and better. The Los Angeles comedy community is producing some of the best content out there with people like Marc Maron’s WTFpod, Comedy Death Ray, Never Not Funny, and the list goes on.

I truly believe that with all the censorship and corporate inbreeding going on in terrestrial radio, its time is limited and the people will move toward a more honest and open platform. Podcasting empowers people to tell their story without the fear of monetary repercussions or corporate backlash. There is no favors and if there is, it’s on your terms, not a board of directors. Say what you want, do what you want. In the immortal words of Kurt Bretch of D.R.I., “Fuck the system, they can’t have me, I don’t need society.”, and that’s what I believe. Be wrong, be right, or something in-between, but be it without the shackles of oppressive corporate slavery.
