Filmmaker, cartoonist, storyboarder, and all around good guy, Waylon Bacon is in the studio to talk movies, music, LA vs SF, and what it takes to actually put something out there for people to see.

From the outside looking in, LA is thought of as that place where a bunch of self-important wanna be actors, directors, and producers come to jerk each other off and snort a bunch of coke….and you’re right…but…

Waylon Bacon

The most talented people are those who do what they do because they have to. They have no choice. Ed Gein used human flesh. Waylon Bacon uses film.

Waylon makes me happy. Myself, being one of those guys who pretend to shun the celebrity aspect of living in Los Angeles, it pleases me to have a conversation with someone who would be making movies regardless of whether he lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco or Chesterpeak, Arkansas. Not everything is for money, not everything is for fame.

Watch Waylon’s movies now including is latest, “Help Wanted”:

Waylon Bacon’s films always make me happy to, in a kind of whimsical and sick and wonderful way. I have always loved his work, and I think Help Wanted is especially genius. So, so glad he is making movies!!

The intro was a (devo?) song I never heard before- the interview was a very worthy follow up. I gotta say that calling himself a nazi (when he means like tight a*&) is pretty extreme (or perhaps a statement at how over-generalized “NAZI” has become) when he’s made a horror film about modern racist genocide. Anal maybe. Or just plain “a director”… Good talk about $$$ realities here, too. And how films are made mostly by the monied classes.

Eeek, perhaps ‘Brown Shirt’ would have been better (or anal). But y’know – you’re being interviewed, you have two cups of strong coffee in you – sometimes things slip out! Glad you liked the talk about money and class though – all true, and needs to be brought up more often.

    Cheers,
    Waylon

I am so Proud of your commitment to your art; film making, directing, screen play writing, drawing, story boards. comic books, and paintings. Of course, I am prejudiced as you are my son. But, you have been doing this all your life, since you could hold a pencil you’ve created images no one else could even imagine. THAT’S ALL YOU! Never giving up your dream I will take a little credit for helping out, mostly with verbal/emotional support. I hated the thought of you going to La La Land, because I miss seeing you so much, but I encouraged you to do it and man it is has already started paying off BIG TIME! So keep on keeping 0n my son, your best is yet to come and then, of course, there will be more. I really cannot say how much I love and respect you, words actually fail to describe the feeling in my heart and soul.

But you you’ve been doing this all your, since you could hold a pencil you’ve created images no one else could even imagine. THAT’S ALL YOU! My only real role was to assist in your early views of films and supporting you every way I can. I hated the thought of you going to La La Land, because I miss seeing you so much, but I kept encouraging you to do it and man it has already started paying off BIG TIME! Your time is NOW!

I don’t know if I’m doing this right or not, or if it’s going to be published – so I’ll print it send it by snail mail to await you further instructions. Love & super respect, DAD
