Episode 58 – SASSAFRAS

There’s a lot of good bands here in Los Angeles, and some of them really stand out as great. SASSAFRAS is an example of one of those bands and since they came on the scene a few years ago, they have been paying dues, working hard, and cranking out some of the best kickass rock music Los Angeles has to offer, symbolizing what it means to rock out correctly and setting an example of a great L.A. band. On this episode of The MorMusic Radio Pod we welcome Sassafras back to Skidrow Studios for some more fun hanging out as we shoot the shit, take some calls, and Sassafras shows us what they do best and blow the roof off the place with a few songs performed live in studio! The second episode of The Jayk Gallagher Program doubled it’s audience from the first ep, receiving calls from Florida, Maryland and beyond trying to speak to our second guest Nick Thorburn of the band “Islands,” “Unicorns” and “Mr. Heavenly.” Nick had a lot of deep stuff to say about working in the music world, plus he told of his new
album dropping Valentine’s Day and his tour kickoff show at The Bootleg. We had killer DJ sets from Alwayz Prolific, Elos, and Brand B. Absolutely stellar stuff from all. Guest Peter Scott, Talent Manager and Founder of Torque Entertainment gave us a really insightful take on the SAG/AFTRA merger, as well as what it takes an actor to get
ahead, and what their manager might do for them when it comes to convincing casting directors to see them. 2MEX came through and rapped over Jayk’s beatboxing, Jayk freestyled over VerBS beatboxing, and our third guest Kid Infinity’s Ryan Pareiro told us that he doesn’t like to freestyle, but he does appreciate the artform. He let us know about his show this Saturday at the Handbag Factory, and told us about his associations with FMLY, with pioneering 3D Concerts, and getting music videos into Polish film festivals. Co-Hosts VerBS, Shane Carpenter, Marie Bollinger
and Preston Thalindroma were exceptional. Next weeks guests include Josh Sussman from Glee, Nocando of Hellfyre Club, and Deap Vally- two extraordinarily attractive band member ladies. So tune in via Ustream as well!
