Hurry up, Chepita, I'm starving. I've been waiting for you for five hours. Did you bring the food? I already did. I'm so hot. Thank you, my dear. The chicken is cooking. What a crazy chicken! I was thinking about you. Did you cook the rice? Yes, the old man has to cook it. Chepita, tell me something. How are your bosses? Shut up, I better eat. That's true. Answer me, how are they? I'm so angry that I can't remember. Do you think the old man came to pinch my hip? You're so stubborn. What did you do? I got angry. I would have been pinched by the old man. They have government jobs and they abuse each other. It's not easy. Do you think the old woman is coming now? I'm going to tell her to tell her daughter. You're so mean. You're going to tell her daughter? I swear, she's so miserable today. She makes me the accounts of the money until the last penny. The more you want, the dirtier it is. You're so pretty. I'm just trying to spend some real money by drinking my salt in the square. I steal your money. Stop it. Tell me, Chayes, when you steal for the authority, that it's not a sin, pretty? And where does that old man work? In a ministry, that's what he works for. And when he wants to increase his salary, he sends the woman well-tuned to balance it. I'm dying because he won't be very old. Oh, shut up. He's younger than his husband. You're so stupid, you bastards. I'm tired of this kitchen today. They make me wash, they make me sew clothes, they send me to the accounts, and everything for 30 soles a month. You can win anywhere. 30 soles 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 Thank you. Adios mujeres alegres Adios todos mis amigos Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios Adios many bands we've had we've had like we've had a green show from Spain yes Jimena's are Indiana some people might know says he was he dining at yours being at the protest from Texas David Garza Carla Morrison Babaluca mmm lots of bands from LA to up ground very be careful yes right Cecilia las cafeteras yeah just pretty much I think I think what mucho musica with with what we've tried to do is just kind of run this spectrum of all these different flavors and all these different artists who are making music in low you know Latin alternative and sort of really emphasizing the new wave Latin alternative bands and everything it's kind of come out from the last few years um you know in in the States and in Mexico and in Latin America there's just been this huge sort of like Renaissance for the Latin alternative community so we've just been trying to like well you know what it's it is true because look we are here yeah talking in Pinochle Pinata hour Pinata hour Skid Row Studios downtown LA listen I'm gonna be honest with you when I saw you putting your gigs I was like dude this guy is just like ah you know and I went to the shows you know like it the vibe and it grew and it grew yeah and then before you know you had an like uh they were promoting you on uh ABC we just yeah we were just on it's it's it's really interesting we were just on Vista LA on uh factually like the Latino show on channel seven. Was it mother's day when they aired it? It was the mother's day yeah it was a great All the mothers are watching that channel yeah yeah Oh I'm going to watch Vista LA to see what's up to see what's up again the food my mom got a lot of phone calls my mom got a lot of phone calls that afternoon yeah I saw you on TV yes yes that's a moment yeah it was and it was and it was great to be on and they were doing a story on the new the new Latino kind of scene the new the new um sort of identity that's kind of coming out in LA right uh they they they touched up on the they visited mucho music mucho Wednesdays which is the party we used to do a la cita and they also visited with la madre who's our photographer um because she documents a lot of subcultures here in LA. um that was a great piece and I think it was it was kind of rare for them to do that. La Cita is just down the street. Yeah. Yeah. We're there for what three years. Right. Are you gonna are you gonna still do things. We're gonna do things. La Cita on a sort of. As. As. As. 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 Hey just real quick Very Be Careful is going to actually be on the next More Music Radio pod show Oh you're going to have a lot of fun That's going to be fun They're going to be here tomorrow night actually I think it is Yeah Yeah That's awesome Yeah They know our friend Vincent from The Mormons Oh I know I've met The Mormons before Yeah yeah They're cool man So yeah that's how we all got connected That's how I got the show too You brought me here No they're a cool band Mormons are super fun Like I said so far so good It smells good Smells good Yeah I'm sorry And not just that we have look what we got here Oh there you go There she is She laughed at that Hi how are you? Hi I'm good How you liking it? It's good It's cool Are you relaxed? I am Very You can lower your You can lower your I'm very relaxed right now You can lower your chair Oh you good? Yeah Low rider style I mean this this 2000 dollars chair I mean they're really comfortable There you go You can bring your mic to your watch out don't hit the bone Excuse me Don't break it Yeah Yeah Hey Rick Yes I have another question Break it down Okay Also How how from from an actor you got involved in promoting the 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 I've been DJing and doing parties since I was a teenager, since I was a kid. So that kind of never went away. Acting, I've been an actor since I was a little boy too. But yeah, it's just a shift in passion. And through the parties that we've been doing, it's just another form of expressing myself. It allows me to be creative from like the flyer design to picking up the bands. And then when we get there, it's like when we sit there, when we actually do the parties, there's a whole other level of creation and just sort of hanging out with people. And, you know, it's all art is all related. I don't know if you paint, if you draw, if you act, if you write, like it's all related. And if you're tapped into that, no matter what it is you're doing, you know, it's another form of it's another form of expressing yourself and you can get into it. And believe me, when we started Mucho, it was a fluke. We were like me and Len and Marjorie. We just wanted to go dance somewhere to like Latin pop. And yeah, and I was working in La Cita and we were like, you know what? Like if we do it a couple of nights. Have you ever been to? This place on Huntington Park. La Boom. Oh, yeah. I used to go there. I used to live there. I used to rock my long hair, you know. I'd been to the one in Pasadena, but I'd never I'd never been to the other La Boom, which is. They used to rock. They used to rock. What about let me take let me take a little bit deep. How about. Are you going way back? Leonardo's over there in Long Beach. Leonardo's. Now, now they call him the Vol. It's a venue. Oh, that is. That used to be Leonardo's. I saw it. I saw the Eros del Silencio. Wow. And it was like only 300 people, 400 people. Damn. That show only. It wasn't like. I was like, what? Out here. I grew up in. I grew up in Mid-City by Koreatown, by USC. So out here, our Leonardo's were the one on La Brea and the one on Adams. Like those are the ones. Oh, really? There was one there? There's one on Adams. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, wow. Same owner, you think? It's the same family. But I don't, I think different members of the family own the different ones. Are they Hispanic? Yeah. Son Raza. It's one of the few. It's actually on Vermont. Yeah, it's on Vermont. On Vermont. Vermont. Yeah, they fixed it up. It's real nice. They still have events there. Awesome. Norteño bands and so on. It's one of the few venues in LA that's Latino owned, which is sort of, you know, like, you know, there's a lot of venues in LA, but they're not owned by, even if they have a Latino name, they're not owned by Latinos. When I lived in San Pedro, now I live in LA and there was a guy called La Zona Rosa. On Pacific. I heard of that place. Yeah. And he's bringing like big Norteño bands and yeah, like a lot of punk shows. I mean, back in the early 2000s. Then he stopped. Okay. Eastside Love. Eastside Love is Latino owned. Eastside Love is one of the few bars that's Latino owned. So I drink there a lot. Hey, Bar 107 too. Bar 107 V&A. Yeah, V&A owns 107. Is she there? Still there or no? She's still, she still owns the places, but she's, she's about to have a bar. She's about to have a baby. So she's getting ready to start a family. Con su güero. Felicidades. Yeah. So, you know. Tequila. She's doing good. Cool. But yeah, I'm still at the, at the Down and Out bar. I'm there like a couple of Saturdays a month. So. So what do you guys, so when's the next show? What do you have in mind? Well, we're kicking off our, our Echoplex parties with a big giant grand opening housewarming party. And that's, that's, that's how we're looking at it. And that's sort of how we programmed it. We wanted to do something that we were comfortable with. We wanted to do something that we were comfortable with. That we wanted to go to. And just something real fun, real decadent, real just out there. So it's going to be Saturday, June 25th at the Echoplex. The headlining band is El Conjunto Nueva Ola. And we're flying in a special guest from Monterrey, Mexico. And that's going to be Bam Bam Bam. Bam Bam's going to come and perform. And they're, they're really, if you don't know who they are. Oh, you're going to be sold out. Well, hope, yeah, that's the idea. We want to sell out every night. So it's 18, it's 18. No, I'll tell you, I'll tell you right now it's going to be sold out. It's 18 and over. And it's going to be real crazy. It's going to be a lot of fun. We're going to have confetti cannons, a balloon drop. There's going to be a spotlight outside. I'll be there for the confetti. We're going to have a bunch of gifts. Like it's going to be, it's, we're, this is going to, you know, we just, we sat around and we're like, all right, well, let's throw ourselves a party. Cause we've been, we've worked, we've worked, you know, Frank, Frank Leopold and Noir and, and, you know, Pajaro and Dulce. Like we've worked really hard for three years every week. Yeah. You guys did. This is a payoff right now, man. That's it. So when we thought about it, it was like, you know what, let's throw, let's throw ourselves the sickest party that we can at this crazy venue. And, and that's pretty much the idea behind it. Right. Yeah. I gotta give it to Ricky, man. The past three years he's been working hard doing this, doing that. All I do is I just come in and do my set and you know, let's go, you know? But yeah, but I, you know, I, you know, I can't let Frank go out like that. Frank, Frank is, Frank is one of the DJs. Frank's one of my favorite DJs. Like my DJs are my favorite DJs. Hey, by the way, good taste by the way. Thank you very much. But, but, but what the, what the mucho DJs and, and the DJs, they're, they're, they're they're the 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 And being there every Wednesday night, which people take for, you know, people think like it's easy. It's a lot of hard work. I had to get up at 5 a.m. the next morning. Yeah. Yeah, I know. Fuck Thursdays, man. I swear to God. That's the most exciting part about the Echoplex parties is that there's no Thursday morning the next day. But these guys have, you know, Frank especially, you know, came in and created a whole sound. Because I've been to Frisco. I've been to San Diego as a guest DJ. And the music scenes up there aren't as developed as they are here. And a large part of that development was the Mucho DJs. And I'm very proud to be a part of that. I'm very proud to be a part of that and to work with them. Because all of us have different ears. And everybody always shows up with something that's like another ingredient. Like, oh, who's that? Or what's that? And over the course of three and a half years, we've ended up with these ears and stuff that we've really been able to single out bands. And people that we think are like, that's really different. That's going to be really good. People are being way. I feel, yeah. I've been out there throwing little gigs, parties, mixing it up. But right now, in the last maybe five years, it's like, man, throw a good mix. Yeah. You know? You know what LA needs, dude, is a good Latin alternative radio station. Yes. You know, pop, indie, you know. It's right here. You're sitting on it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, there you go. You got me started. But, I mean, seriously, all I hear on Latin radio nowadays is Norteña. I mean, nothing against Norteña. I mean, I like to listen to that stuff at Quinceañera and whatnot. But, man, every damn radio station. I agree completely with you, man. So, you know. For sure. And it really pissed me off when indie went off the air. And, you know. Yeah. We already know what happens with that. But Frank's been known to play a few Norteñas and Mucho after a few micheladas. Yeah. Well, you know. I don't mind it, dude. I don't mind it. The right tracks. The right tracks. Some obscure stuff, maybe. Just not the stuff that's all over the radio. Yeah. Definitely. Locuras in the homes. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know. You understand where I'm coming from. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. I'd have to really agree with Frank. There's great online radio shows like you guys and stuff. But, for the most part, there's nothing on FM, which is strange because the market's shifting. They could. They will watch. They could. But the people. I think the people. They're going to do internet, but no radio. Yeah. I think. I think. I think. I think the old system, like the labels and the old school payola radio stations, they're dying their last breaths. And it's really going to. It's really getting to the point where they're not going to be able to support these radio stations anymore. And these radio stations are going to come up. And I think. I think there's a whole shift happening in terms of music, especially with Latin Alternative. But it's. I think it's a really exciting time. I think this is the opportunity that everybody sort of has to link up, link arms and really push it and support each other. One of the things that we're doing is we're working with the Levitt Pavilions. We're working with. You know, we're very proud. We're very happy to be here on Skid Row. You know, you guys, what you guys are doing is important and it's great. And congratulations. And, you know, we want to encourage you guys to really, like, keep doing this. Yeah. Keep doing it. I want to come back and just hang out. Yeah. Sit on the couch. You know. Anytime. Sit there and, you know. But I think. Smell the fresh air. Skidrow.com. Skidrow.la. Yeah. If you want to listen. Yeah. Well, yeah. I tweeted that. They better tune in. Or call in. You guys need to call in. Yeah. If you guys are listening to the show, you want to. Yeah. You have your own personal questions. Anything. What's the meaning of life? Call us at 1-800-893-9562. 1-800-893-9562. But I think it's a very exciting time. We definitely need more. We need a real. We need, like, an FM radio station. And even that, I think it's, you know, this. What you guys are doing is very exciting. Because the iCloud is sort of what Apple is introducing. The rumor. The rumor is that part of what they're introducing is that more and more cars that come out now are going to be Wi-Fi ready. Yes. I'll tell you about that. So you're going to be able to dial in your online podcast or your online radio station. So, you know, groups like you guys are really ahead of the curve because that's what's next. And the FM radio stations are very aware of it. So I think that, I think their time is up. Much props right there to Jeremy. What's up? Terrestrial radio is pretty much dead. I mean, it's got a limited day. It does. It does. It's just like. It's just like the. You know, the old label system. Like it's those four or five years. Terrestrial radio is becoming, you know, the eight track of broadcast. Yeah. If you guys are listening to the show right now, if you don't agree with what we say or anything, throw us your opinions. Yeah. 1-800-893-9562. Se habla espanol. And I love that you guys are. Can we say where you guys are? Well, you're on Skid Row. No. Skid Row. Literally. Skidrow.com. Skid Row. I love that you guys are in downtown. I think that we take for granted that. Oh, you know. You know, downtown is Latino. And there's not. If you really think about it, there are not a lot of spaces for us in downtown L. A. Which is kind of, you know. You know, having grown up here my whole life. Yeah. Seen the city my whole life. I was born right down the street. You know, right down the street. It's really interesting having seen L. A. grow and change through all this time. But I love. When I go anywhere to Guadalajara, where my parents are from. Jalisco. Mexico. I can't wait to get back here. Yeah. I can't hang over there. I can't hang in Mexico. So, I can't wait to get back to Baldwin Park or anywhere. To just ride my bike. To skateboard. And just what it is. Punk rock had a huge influence on me growing up out here. So, I just. I love it out here. I mean, I've been to New York. It's alright. It's cool to go for a few days or whatever. Yeah. I love my friends. Which is the main reason I like going out there. But I can't wait to get back out here. You just get homesick, huh? Definitely. Yeah. It's been so strange to watch downtown change so much. I grew up on Vermont and Pico. Yeah. Pretty much. So, I mean. You know, every school I went to. I rode the bus through downtown. So, to watch it. To see it really become what it's become. It's just the weirdest thing. You couldn't walk through downtown, man. Yeah. It's the weirdest. Dude, in the late. What was it? Like in the. Early 90s. From what I remember. Early 2000s. It was still a ghost town. Yeah. It was still a ghost town. Oh, definitely. At night. Like I said. I had a lot of friends and they were still turning over the lofts. They were living. Like the one. The loft on top of. Across from the down and out. I had a friend of ours lived in there. And it was just like. It was. Gangie. It was. It was really weird, man. It was like a Fellini film. We live here. And you're like. It's cool. All right. But it's much different now. Now. How do you guys met? We actually met through Louis. Through Louis. I remember. I met Louis one night at Bar 107. About five years ago maybe. Or something like that. Wasn't it called the Keyhole then? Yeah. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. But anyways. He. I guess he went a few times. And he liked the music that I was playing there at 107. And he invited me to La Cita. I guess. Yeah. Like the first month that you guys were there to do a. You know. I guess DJ said. Whatever. And I met Ricky. Yeah. So on and so forth. And here we are. Frank just got it. Frank. You know. It's. I think a big. We've been really blessed. And a shout out to Louis. Hopefully he's listening. You know. Probably studying. Probably something studying for his Spanish test. Louis. Where you at? Spanish. Yeah. But it's. It's funny. I think the people that we've ended up working with are the people who've gotten it. And you'd think it's real easy. And you'd think it'd be common. And it's really not. And Frank really got it from the very beginning. Yeah. We didn't. It was a very. It was very second nature. And he fit right in. And it was like. Dude. You know. Go for it. Rock it. And he has. And it's. He's been doing it. He's been doing it. I mean. I know. I know. This guy was like. About six years or so. Yeah. And you know. You were doing it. I was like. Yeah. This guy's. Add him on Facebook. Frank Leopold. Yeah. I think. You're doing Mas Malo sometimes too. Right? Yeah. I'm. That's still kind of up in the air. I just did it on Friday. Which is pretty cool. If they're smart though. Yeah. They'll keep having him back. Yeah. Are you guys planning to like release something? Put it on. I think. I think everybody's working on. Everybody's kind of working on their own projects. Frank's. Frank's been remixing. Frank. Frank was a feature. He did a feature remix for Pilar Diaz. He did a. Nice. It's kind of hard dude. Because. You know. I got my oldest son graduating. If you guys don't know who Pilar Diaz is. She's the lead singer of Los Abandoned. Oh. Los Abandoned. Yeah. Who's reuniting at one of our parties. Yeah. I forgot about that. I want to say that. You know what? I play with the band early, early, early, early. Early. When they started. Yeah. We play with them like two times. When did they. Get out of here. When did they break up? We play at Winchester. A few years ago. Right before Mucho. Like the year before Mucho. They split up like right before. They split up months before Mucho. And then it was. But they play. They play at Los Abandoned. They've all played in different bands. But Los Abandoned. They haven't played since they broke up. That's why this. The reunion show that you're doing. With us is such a big deal. It was so weird. Because right after the release of their. That night. It's muy nice. Yeah. Right? The video. Maybe not too long after that. Yeah. They split. Which. And I think that's. You know. I think that's an interesting. That in and of itself. Is an interesting commentary. On the Latin alternative scene. They were way ahead of the time. This didn't exist. Mucho didn't exist. There were very few Latin radio. One way to find out. I'm going to. I'm going to. I'm going to. I'm going to call her. You. You should. I'm going to text. Yeah. Yeah. But it's. When they came out. There was nothing. There was nothing like them. I mean. If. You know. From my. From my personal perspective. It was just something that just. You know. When. They were like. The rock and Spaniol. From like 10 years ago. Yeah. They came from that. Yeah. That's what I saw. Also. The disco biscuit scene. Which I called in the mid 80s. Out around the valleys. There was a. Kind of fusion of. Well. It's eventually that deep house music. In the late 80s. Early 90s. Disco biscuit. The low rise. The writers. They were bordering on that vibe. And it was a mixture. I believe. Of rock. And that disco biscuit scene. Which is what everyone loves now. That progressive. Dancey. Like rockers. Punk rockers. They look like punk rockers. But. They dance all hectic. You know. That. Those fusions. I think. Were really important around here. The pointy boots. Well. You know what. We called them disco biscuits. You know. Deep house. From like 85 to 88. Disco biscuits. My sisters were biscuits. You know. I was the youngest of five. Would that be cha-cha then? Yeah. That same thing. Cha-cha. Cha-cha period. Re-style. That was a very influential scene out here. Yeah. And all records represented those scenes. That were put out here. I still rock that once in a while. For sure. I don't know. Classic. Classic dude. Yeah. My dad used to DJ all that stuff. Back in the day. Her dad was probably a disco biscuit. I'm trying to like. Get him to give me all his records. I'm like. I don't want them. I was like. Yes I do. See the thing about it though. Back then. They didn't like bad religion. Like it was so segregated. If you were a biscuit. You were like a disco biscuit. Hey. Ricky. By the way. Something you should look into it. If you want to bring like a live rock. You know. There's this chicha cumbia sound out there. Mixed with rock and roll. They've been doing it for. You know. For. Since the 70s. But. There's kids now doing that. A lot. The only. The only. There are. There are a couple of chicha bands here in LA. Which we're. Yeah. We're really interested in. But yeah. I mean anything. Any new sounds. Anybody doing anything interesting and progressive. We're always interested in like finding it. You know. You will. You'll find it. LA has so much talent. I tell you man. It's. It's interesting. It's a great time. Because so many bands are encouraged and inspired by the bands that are sort of doing their thing right now. And there's a lot of stuff bubbling up. You know. But. But in answer to your. To your. Your. Your previous question. Me and. I'm working with one of the. With one of our other DJs Polo. We just did an Adele remix. Love it man. Nice. Yeah. We did this Adele remix for Rumor Has It. Because we just. We're starting to like mess around. And we're actually going to do a live set at. At the grand opening. Me and. Me and Polo are going to do a live. Like our live set at the. At the show. But the first little pet project that we started tooling around with was. Are you a. Records turntable or. At this. Now it's all. It's all controllers. It's all Ableton. It's all production stuff. So that's kind of. That's where we shifted over into. Frank. Frank uses. Frank uses. Mario Torque Exponent. I got it a few years ago. And I kind of. I'm still in love with it. But I get bored easily. So. And I love technology as it is. So. You know. You like it because it makes it easier for you. Or. Just. Not easy. Quality of the sound. Or. I guess quality. But it just depends too. Where you get your downloads from. You could get. Download something from the internet. It'll be a shitty bit rate. Oh I see. I think more. I think more than anything. Like with. Because I. Frank turned me on to Torque. So I started using Torque. And I stopped using CDs. And then I'm. You know. I shifted over to doing laptop stuff. And then now I'm trying to. You know. I'm like. Go to Ableton. But I think more than anything. It's just. It's not easier. It's just. It's a better tool. It's a better tool. He knew how to use it though. Because I've seen. A lot of DJs. When I used to call them. Like. Hey you want to DJ? I'm throwing a party here. I had other DJs. And they had the same program. You know. You can go get it. Anywhere else. And. There were no. They. They don't know how to use it. Yeah. It's the person behind. Whatever is being used. But like. There is. I mean. I don't think there's a software. That's going to make it easy. For you to be a DJ. Like. Either you're a good DJ. Or you're not. You have to be able to read the audience. And then. When you have tools. Like. Like Torque. Or Ableton. Or. You know. An APC controller. Or whatever. It's just. It's just a tool. To let you be more creative. And get into the party more. I don't think I like the word DJ anymore. I'm just a music selector. Yeah. I know. That's why I call right here. Locura. Locura. Locura. He's doing the vinyl. Yeah man. Beautiful. Some tapes as well man. Oh you do? Yeah. Boombox on deck. Nice. Oh. I think. We have some Fabulosos on deck. Yes. We play something. And come back to. Yeah. Some more questions. If you guys want to march back. You know. Tape. Let's do this. Tape. Tape. Take off the headphones. Here's some tapes. We are here. Uh, Piñata Hour with Lee and Locura. Locura doing, playing vinyls on his little turntables and, uh, set up a boom box. But now, we're gonna, we're gonna have a guest DJ, Frank LeBow, from Mucho Musica. He's gonna be. Hola. Hola, Frank. He's setting up his lab. I'm setting up NASA control right now. You, ¿Estás haciendo tamales? Looks good, man. Looks good from here. Lee, by the way, this is our first, um, guest DJ. Yes. On the show, which we spoke about. Yes. So nice. We've had a live performance now, which was, hello, my name is Red on Acoustic. We had, uh, one of the guys. Yeah, so anybody out there is doing biography about this show, write that down. This is our first, uh, guest DJ. I am honored. Yes. There should be a plaque up on the wall next week. There it is. Take a photo, we put a plaque up on the wall. First DJ. Yeah, you guys can find Piñata Hour on Facebook, too. Just take, you know, type, uh, Piñata Hour. And up to about, uh, uh, uh, one minute ago. Now you can, uh, follow Piñata Hour on Twitter. Yeah. There you go. Twitter. The power of Twitter. Twitter. Yeah. Why? That's supposed to be my arm on it, isn't it? Fucking Frank here going, uh. We're going to tear it up, yeah. Yeah. Lambada. What? Lambada. Lambada. Lambada. Lambada. Lambada. You know, we, we, we have some Lambada now. We, we just, um, you know, we got a cassette collection. Oh, okay. And there's some Lambada. So we'll be playing Lambada in the near future. There you go. Lambada. Yeah. Um. Hey, guys. Now, um, here in Piñata Hour, we have our second guest. It's Desiree Garcia. And hi, Desiree. Welcome to Piñata Hour. Hi, Lee. How you doing? How are you? I'm doing fine. So, we were hanging out downstairs and you were saying, you just got back from the punk room or something? Punk rock bowling. Wow. Yeah. It was. I know a lot of, uh, our mutual friends were going there. Oh, yeah. They ran into everyone. It was, it was insane, man. It was. Yeah. You were at Sam's town, you know. It was just, it was really good. The music was awesome. The crowd was amazing. It was just so much booze and, you know, Vegas. How many bands? Oh, there was a lot. I think, um, it was like three, three days of music. Let me see. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Which one was the best day? Four days of music. Which one was the best day? I think it had to be Monday. Monday? Yeah. Last day, right? Last day. Who was there on the bill? That day, it was, um, I think it was the Dwarves, um, Cox Bar and, uh. Wow. Were you there for Cox Bar? How was that? My God, it was, they played, it was just, I got so fucked up in the pit, but it was so amazing. For some of our listeners, um, Cox Bar is a legendary band, punk band from the UK. Yes. Look into it. They're from the UK. Yes. I mean, you gotta hear that. Amazing. Like, I don't know what to say. Just check them out. Yes. They got videos too. I'll never forget that set. I think that maybe that 65% of people there were for that band. Yeah, I think so. But, you know, I'm really jealous of the people. I'm jealous of the people who got to see them at the Country Saloon because it was a small club. It was a club venue. CBGB kind of? Yeah, with Old Man Markley and that was a really good one. But, um, I didn't get to catch it. But the huge, just everyone fist up in the air. People, crowds were going crazy. It was just nuts. And you were in the pit. I, you know, I couldn't, I would never be able to live with myself. It gets down. I would never be able to live with myself if I went to one of their shows and didn't get in the pit. You're like, I was only in for two seconds. Those are the, those are the pits that you want to, you don't want to miss that kind of pit. Yeah, no, I was like, I don't want to be in it, but I don't want to, I don't want to miss it either. And so I was, I went into it, less than two minutes in there. I roll my ankle and I'm like, I'm done. I'm done. And I walk away. I was like, I did it. I got hurt. I'm done. But it was so worth it. It was, well, look at you, you're walking in those shoes. So yeah, it's feeling better. The swelling has gone down and it's been a couple of days. So well, Frank DePaul setting up, he's almost done. So we have Desiree Garcia. Hi. Me and you, we go way back. I know you for a while, just playing around and, you know, going to gigs and Mr. T, right? Oh yeah, T-Bowl days, T-Bowl Tuesdays. Yes. Those were fun. Those were the best Tuesday of the month. I mean, just going there, you see all kinds of bands. Oh yeah. Cool people. Vince was doing that for a long time. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. It was good. Good times at T's. I mean, that's what we meant. And were you in a band? No, right? No, I think I was just, I was just always there and then I just started throwing shows and I went to kind of go try to learn sound from Arlo and then eventually I was just like, yeah, I think I want to put the shows on, you know, like I think that's more like my avenue and so I started doing it there and then the last time I did a show there or actually no, when I stopped doing it was because the Mormons had their 10 year anniversary party with 8-Bit and Midway, I think, played and it was just, no, no, no, Midway didn't play. I don't know, I forgot. Anyways, it was really epic. Something went sour? Something went sour? I forgot the band but it was, anyways, it was a huge show. It was so packed, right? Yeah. And they didn't charge, it was a free show but the fucking bar like jacked up prices three times and they didn't pay any of the bands out, dude. So I wrote this little article about the Mormons and, you know, I leave the, newspapers at Mr. T's it was one of the distribution points and I left it there and the owner read it and he was like, she's fucking 86 to like, she can never come in so, and you go into the Matisse Bowl you'll see right by like the fish tank there's a, it says Desiree is 86 no fucking around. No photo? No fucking around. Is there a photo? No, no, there's no photo. Imagine a big poster. I'm on the 86th wall. It's still there, dude. It's still there. It's still there, yeah. It's on white and black, right? Yeah, black and white. But I still get, they can't stop me going in. It looks like a stop sign. And every time I go in they're like, oh hi Des, and just, yeah. Is there a reward like if you show up? No, well I say hi to Paulina all the time, she doesn't do shit. Are you promoting, are you promoting any, any band out there that you, is your favorite band right now? I have a lot of favorite bands. I know you do, but like, they're all my favorite. Give us a few bands. Oh man, well right now, I really like Spider Problem. I've been listening to their new album, Do you have the LP? I do. Good, huh? Yeah. What's with the band? Are they still playing? Yeah, they're still, they're still, I think they just toned down on doing shows. Great album, great, one of the best new records on LP for sure. Definitely. Rock, I mean. I know you have, I know you have one, right? Right. Okay. That's so good. We're gonna play it. Yeah. And then, we're gonna play it back. Lightning Woodcock, he puts on a really good show. Okay. You ever check him out? No. Have you ever seen him play? No. Dude, he is just. No, I've seen him. It's the one with the, he has the mustache, like long, long hair. That's like, like hair. Yeah. I mean, I've seen him with, when he had it like really long at one point. And then he's, no, he has a, a little side. Lightning Woodcock. Whatever. And the bad motherfucker. Yeah. And the bad motherfucker. Yeah. Who else? Who else are you listening to? Kamikaze. Nice. There's, you know, the Black Beverly Hills, who Michael called it. And these are all local bands? These are all bands that play like in the downtown area all the time. So, they're always at the Redwood or at the Five Star place. What other places you are from, booking shows, doing things like? Doing stuff at Cheetah's. Uh-huh. Doing little things here and there at the Redwood. It's pretty much it for right now. How's Cheetah's? How's Cheetah's going? I love that place, dude. Really? I don't get paid shit, but let me tell you, there's nothing like being at the end of that catwalk and watching one of my favorite bands play and just drinking a shot and there's this girl just stripping of their music and it's just, it's so rad and like I sit there and she's, you know, like shaking and people are throwing dollars at her and the bands are going on in the background and it's just right and it's just amazing. I love that place. I really want to check out Cheetah's. Cheetah's? Yeah, that place is rad. I've been there one time. This had to be about, 12, 13 years ago. Is it a pretty, like is it a divey bar? It's not too divey. They just did a bunch of remodeling. Okay, when I went, it was divey. I'm sure it's nice. The girls are pretty, you know, they keep their tops on. Yeah. You know, it's not like. Are they like the, you know, those books we were looking at earlier? No. No? No, those books are like. What are they, like an eight out of ten? Seven? Seven? Those girls. It varies because they're not always the same girl. So like one time I saw this girl and she was just. She was beat down. No, she was gorgeous. And I was like, oh man. What are you doing here? On the book, look into my eyes and tell me. Are those girls, are they eight, ten or nine? Those girls are like a 20. After a six pack, they're like 50. They're like 50. Yeah. Oh. You know, like. No, but you can't compare those girls to the girls at Cheetah's because the girls at Cheetah's are like strippers and these are like models. You know. Hey, Jeremy, are you out there? What's up? A lot of them are right here. Talking about girls. I'm sure. They're working their way. Is that going to happen or what? They don't. They're not full nude. They, you know, keep on. Should I say the P word? But it's. Let's see what. Let's see what happens. But I got a pretty large response on Craigslist. So it seems pretty easy to do. OK. So Cheetah's. Cheetah's. Wow. OK. You got to go check that out. Yeah, definitely. How about Bordello? Are you still going? Oh, I love Bordello. That place was so amazing. And I loved, you know, it was hard to do the Tuesdays because it's like who wants to go out on a Tuesday night? You know, it's hard. Was Bordello. Was that a place that used to be called Little Pedro? Little Pedro. Yeah. Don't they still have the sign? They do. Right. They do. Little Pedro's Blue Bongo Cafe. Yeah. Yeah. They used to be a cop hangout. And the interior now is just so beautiful. It has this, like, gothic kind of boudoir. A velvety. Oh, yeah. The sound there is. Was that Little Pedro's? Little Pedro's. The sound there is amazing. But, um. The first time I saw A-Bit, I was at Mr. T-Bone. Yeah. And it was the shit. Even the last, yeah. All their shows were sick. Yeah. But Bordello got bought out by the people who do, um, Villains now. So Villains is running that. But I hear they're, they're running it good. So. I mean, they treat the bands pretty good from what I've heard. Yeah, that's what matters. As long as that's going on. Yeah. I don't. Long story short, I went there once. I opened up a tab. And, uh, I always pay, you know, I tip them cash after I close my tab. And, I was pretty fucked up. But I know I gave that chick a good tip. Yeah. The next day, uh, she tipped herself, like, $30 extra. Wow. I had to call the bank. And then, uh, anyways, um, I was like, I'm never going back to that fucking place. Holy shit. Yeah. After I gave her a nice tip, you know. It took advantage of you. Yes. Motherfucker. I feel raped with no vaseline. Well, okay, so we have Cheetahs, we got Burdelos. Where else, uh? Um, Tease Bowl, back in the day. Uh, where else? Are you doing any, uh, um, any, uh, work for any, uh, magazine? Yeah, yeah. I'm working for, um, Big Wheel right now. Big Wheel. Yeah, they've been sending me, uh, Big Wheel, Pancra, Pancra, Pancra Band. Big Wheel Magazine.com. Yeah. They used to, uh, I remember when they used to be on paper. Team Goon. Yeah. Yeah. When they were in print. And now we're online. That's how back, uh, accessible to everybody. Yes. Like, um, this show. Vince told me that, uh, the Mormons are gonna be doing an interview with Big Wheel Magazine, actually. Yeah, they are. It's coming up. Nice. Cool. You gotta put that out. We love the Mormons. Pussy Cow, they're just, ugh, I love all those bands. They're fun bands. Mm-hmm. Good people. Yeah. Good people. They're fun. Hey, that's right. We're gonna have, uh, Frank Lepore right now. He's gonna do some... Is there anything you wanna say that you wanna let people know about your upcoming shows? Um, we have Pussy Cow and The Perverts playing at Cheetah's, which should be amazing because last time we had Pussy Cow there, Joe Dana was stripping and, uh, one particular stripper made it rain on him, so that just tells you how awesome it was. It was, when the stripper makes it rain on you, you know you're doing good, right? Wow. Yeah. Rain. I'm just thinking of golden showers. Golden showers. Oh. That's bad. Yeah, so that one's coming up on the 12th. Um, we got Strong Killings coming in from... You, did you, did you still have your, uh, blog? You have a blog, uh, with pictures in it. Yeah, the, the Boo Hawk Chronicles, but I don't really update it anymore. Oh, that's beautiful. That's a, beautiful website. How you, how you presented it, like, with the pictures and the frame. That is, that is, like... You know, I kind of just use it as, like, um, portfolio now when I just apply to stuff. I'm like, oh, this is the portfolio. This is where all my writing samples are, but I haven't really been updating it. It's been... Do you think people can get in touch with you through there? I don't know if you can. I think it's, um, Tumblr's kind of weird. I don't know if you can def... I think you can email. I think I have my email up there, but if not, it's desilude at gmail.com. There you go. Or you could find me on Facebook at Desilude Productions. I still don't understand Tumblr. Me either. I don't know how to work it. I don't know how I made it so... I just know. I just see photos and photos and photos and photos and photos. I can't... It's hard to do the words. Yeah. The words are weird. All right. Okay, so we're gonna have now Frank. Are you ready, my friend? Yeah, I'm ready. You sure? I think so. Okay. I was trying to figure out what to play. I was like, eh, okay. Pia Tower. Pia Tower introduces Frank Leopold. Thank you, Desiree. Mm-hmm. We love you here. We love you, too. Aw. Frank Leopold. For you. For you. For you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
