This is Jack Hunter Cohen. Welcome to The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. The Healing Hour. And that was Glad from Traffic from John Barley, Corn Must Die from 1970. And we're going to continue with another bit of Traffic from 1971. This is the low spark of high-heeled boys. ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ guitar solo If you had just a minute to breathe And they granted you one final wish Would you ask for something like another chance? Or something similar as this Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you As sure as your sorrows are joy And they granted you one final wish And the thing that disturbs you Is only the sound of the love spark With high-heeled boys The percent that you're paying Is too high a price While you're living beyond your means And the man in the suit Has just bought a new car From the pocket he's made on your greens But today you just read That the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest Was the love spark of high-heeled boys The Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. That song I've been wanting to play since the beginning. It's just such a long one. I had to find the right time. Coming up next is, well, another couple from 1971, and I'll talk to you in a bit. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Good enough for me. Good enough for me and my Bobby. From the Kentucky coal mine to the California sun, hey, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul. Through all kinds of weather, through everything we've done, your Bobby, baby, kept me from the cold. One day up near Salina Sloan, I let him slip away. He's looking for that home, and I hope he finds it. But I trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday to be holding Bobby's body next to mine. Freedom is just another word for nothing left. Nothing left to lose. Nothing. That's all that Bobby left me. And feeling good was easy now when he sang the blues. Feeling good was good enough for me. Good enough for me and my Bobby. Yeah. La-da-da, la-da-da-da, la-da-da, la-da-da-da. La-da-da, la-da-da-da, Bobby. Yeah. La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la La la la la la la la la la la la la Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee You are so sweet You are so fine I want your all and everything But you just have to be mine Because you're my baby Because you're my love Oh, girl, I'm just a dreamster for your love You slide so good With bones so fair You've got the universe reclining in your hair Because you're my baby Yes, you're my love Oh, girl, I'm just a dreamster for your love Oh, girl Oh Oh Girl, I'm just a jeepster for your love Oh, oh Oh, oh Oh, oh The wild ones flow A pond with frozen cheeks The way you flip your hip It always makes me weak Because your mind Is my way You show my love Oh, girl, I'm just a jeepster for your love All right Your motivation Is so sweet Vibrations are burning up my feet Because you're my babe Yes, you're my love Oh, girl, I'm just a jeepster for your love I said, girl, I'm just a vampire for your love And I'm gonna suck you Oh, girl, your life is Oh That was T-Rex, Jeepster from Electric Warrior from 1971. And before that, me and Bobby McGee from Janis Joplin, released posthumously on the Pearl album in 1971. She died of a drug overdose at the age of 27 in the Landmark Motor Hotel in West Hollywood at the age of 27. And she is an incredible voice. What can you say? Coming up next are three guitar gods. This is from 1972. And then a couple from 1974. Rory, Jorma, and Richard. Mama's in the kitchen picking up a pie. Daddy's in the backyard. Get a job, son, you know you're hard to try. I packed up my bag and headed down the road. I got me a job from Henry Ford. I made a mistake, I moved much too far. And now I know what the lonesome blues are. I'm getting lonesome, I'm getting blue. I need someone to talk to. I'm getting lonesome, I'm getting blue. Let me tell you where I'm going to. Yeah! Yes, I'm going to my hometown. I don't care even if I have to. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I don't care if I have to walk Yes I'm coming to my home town I don't care even if I have to walk I gotta move on now baby I got no more time left to talk Talk about it Yes I'm coming to my home town Sorry but I can't take you Yes I'm coming to my home town Sorry baby but I can't take you Only got one ticket You know I just had a ball too Take me home Take me home Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Come on, come on. Come on, come on. The time we borrowed from ourselves guitar solo Can't stay within a vaulted well guitar solo And living turns into a lander's well guitar solo So let me come with you guitar solo And let me come with you guitar solo And when we came out into view guitar solo guitar solo guitar solo guitar solo guitar solo I found myself with you When breathing felt like something new New Along with you Going along with you guitar solo guitar solo Under the Calvary Cross guitar solo I was under the Calvary Cross Pale-faced lady, she said to me I've watched you with my one green eye I'll hurt you till you need me You scuff your heels and you spit on your shoes You do nothing with a reason One day you catch a train Never leaves the station Everything you do Everything you do You do for me Now you can make believe on your tenuous hope You can be my broom boy Scrub me till I shine in the dark I'll be like Dale Doomsday Ooh, it's a black cat cross your mind I'm a rapper And why don't you follow I'm closing you and my light's in you This is your birthday of sorrow Everything you do Everything you do Everything you do You do for me Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh This is Jack Hunter Cohen, the Healing Hour Radio Show, Tuesday, August 20th, 2013. That was Richard Thompson, the Calvary Cross, from Richard and Linda Thompson's I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight. And before that, Yorma Kalkinen from Qua Genesis. And before that, Rory Gallagher, the late, great Rory Gallagher, from Live in Europe, that's going to my hometown, wherein he does things to a mandolin that should not be legal. Rory Gallagher, tragically, he developed a fear of flying in his 40s. A young guy, and to overcome it, he had to go to a hospital. And he was in a hospital, and he was in a hospital, and he was in a hospital, and he was in a hospital, and he was in a hospital, he got a prescription for a powerful sedative that ended up combining with his alcohol and resulted in severe liver damage. And he continued touring, and by the time of his final performance, on January 10th, 1995, in the Netherlands, he was very sick, and the rest of the tour had to be cancelled. He was admitted to the hospital. There were complications, and he died in the hospital. And he was admitted to the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital. The hospital had to be only 47 years old. Brilliant, brilliant guitar player. Inspiration to a great many Irish musicians and American musicians and English musicians. Rory Gallagher. Tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 21st, I want to tell you about an event at the Wheel of Wellbeing Lecture Hall in Westwood, which is at 1575 Westwood Boulevard, Suite 303. Eight o'clock. It's eight o'clock at the Wheel of Wellbeing Lecture Hall in Westwood. That's 1575 Westwood Boulevard, Suite 303. Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 21st. And following on now, we're going to play a song from The Kinks. Thank you. Thank you. When was a night so long? Long like the notes I'm sending. She waits in the air. I'll take who decides. She sleeps. In a chair. In her sad America. She waits in the air. I'll take who decides. She sleeps. In a chair. In her sad America. She waits. That was King Crimson from Discipline, Mate Kudasai. Adrian Blue was quoted as saying, it means, please wait for me. He says he found it in a Japanese phrase book and thought it sang well and made a nice little title. And before that was Misfits from the Kinks. Take a good look around. The Misfits are everywhere. That's from the album Misfits from 1978. And now with King Crimson, we're into the 80s. And coming up is a song by Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy on the late Phil Lynott. And from a Phil Lynott album. I heard this in a video. It's a song of an Irish series called Straight Out of Ireland or something like that, or Screaming from Whistleroot or Scream. It was a great television program on Irish music. And this is a song called Old Town. The old covent garden I remember only too well The girl's a fool She broke the rule She hurt her heart This time he will break down She's lost his trust And so she bust all that's lost The system has broke down Robles has broke down This boy is cracking up This boy has broke down She plays it hard She plays it hard She plays it tough When that's enough the love is over She's broke his heart and that is rough But it'll be able to recover The romance is over This boy is cracking up This boy has broken down This boy is cracking up This boy has broken down The old town guitar solo I've been spending my money in the old town It's not the same, honey, when you're not around I've been spending my time in the old town I sure miss you, honey, now you're not around Now you're not around this old town solo solo This boy is cracking up This boy has grown now This boy is cracking up This boy is cracking up It's generally acknowledged that the greatest killer on the planet is stress. Most physical and non-physical health problems have long-term physiological stress at their origin. The healing codes are a powerful self-healing system in form of energy medicine, which activates healing centers in the body to remove the stress we carry in our cells, which in turn allows the body to heal itself. In order to heal your problems, you have to heal your stress. In order to heal your stress, you have to heal your memories. The thing that causes the stress response in our bodies is not just our current circumstances. It's our wrong beliefs, our destructive cellular memories that are encoded and stored in our hearts and in our minds. This is an organic way of healing yourself. There are no drugs involved, no great expense. Hit the engine, but she ain't turning. Giving each other some hard lessons lately. We ain't learning. The same sad story that's a fact. One step up and two steps back. The Bird on a wire outside my motel room But he ain't singing Girl and wine outside a church engine But the church bells ain't ringing I'm sitting here in this bar tonight But all I'm thinking is I'm the same old story, same old act One step up and two steps down It's the same thing night on night Who's wrong, baby, who's right Another fight and I slam the door on Another battle and I Who's wrong, baby, who's right When I look at myself I don't see The man I wanted to be Somewhere along the line I slow down I'm moving one step up and two steps down There's a girl across the bar I get the message she's sending She ain't looking to marry me Honey, I'm pretending Last night I dreamed I held you in my arms The music was never ending We danced as the evening sky faded to black One step up and two steps down One step up and two steps down Thank you. Thank you. Above him, Bruce Springsteen from 1987's Tunnel of Love. And before that was Phil Lynott from the Phil Lynott album Old Town. That was from 1982. Phil Lynott died at the age of 36 in 1986. If he had lived, he would be celebrating his 64th birthday today. And next up is another couple of songs from the 80s. And actually, no. Ones from the 80s and ones from the 90s. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. I'm going to play one from Steve Earle, followed by one from Tom Waits, next up on the Healing Hour Radio Show. But first, I want to remind you again, thehealinghourradioshow.wordpress.com is the place to go for all the playlists, you can download any of the songs, pretty much any of the songs I play, through the store, and you can download the podcast free of charge, but if you want to purchase a download, an mp3 or an album, you can do so through the store as well, and I hope you will. And here we go with Steve Earle. Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Steve Earle Well, God bless your crooked little heart St. Louis got the best of me I miss your broken china voice How I wish you were still here with me Oh, you build it up, you wreck it down And you burn your mansion to the ground Oh, there's nothing left to keep you here But when you're falling behind and it's a big blue world Oh, you've got to hold on, hold on Baby, gotta hold on Take a mind and stand right here, gotta hold on Down by the Riverside Motel It's thin below and falling By a 99-cent store She closed her eyes and started swaying Oh, you build it up, you wreck it down And you burn your mansion to the ground Oh, there's nothing left to keep you here Oh A song called hold on, hold on Baby, gotta hold on to take a mind Standing right there, gotta hold on You gotta hold on, hold on Baby, gotta hold on to take a mind Standing right there, gotta hold on You gotta hold on You've got to hold on This is Jack Conner Cohen, the Healing Hour radio show. That was Tom Waits, Hold On from the Mule Variations. And before that was New York City from the great Steve Earle from El Corazon. He recorded a series of records, El Corazon, Transcendental Blues, and I Feel Alright on the 90s, I believe, that were incredible records. They're all really, really strong, strong albums with terrific tracks on them. So about the next song, Andy Partridge of XTC said he tried and tried not to write a divorce song. And the last thing he wanted was to come over as a grieved cattle bum crying into his beer in the bar of Heartbreak Motel, or even worse as Phil Collins. The trouble was his internal steam kept building. And at any rate, he wrote this song and he didn't want to record it. And then he recorded it and it came out great. And everybody loved it. And they convinced him to release it on the record. And this is what that came out. H-A-T-E Is that how you spell love in your dictionary? K-I-C-K Pronounced as kind F-U-C-K Is that how you spell friend in your dictionary? Black on black, a guidebook for the blind Well now that I can see My eyes won't weep Now that I can hear Your song sound Sounds cheap Now that I can talk On your corner I'll read I'm not so sure that Joey went to Virgin Mary There are no words for me inside your dictionary!! I'm not so sure that Joey went to Virgin Mary There are no words for me inside your dictionary! S-L-A-P S-H-I-T, is that how you spell me in your dictionary? For I'd fool you, let round everywhere. Well, now that I can see, it's the queen's new clothes. Now that I can hear all your poison prose. Now that I can talk with my tongue unfroze. I'm not so sure it's Santa or the buck-toothed fairy. There are no words for me inside your dictionary. Now your laughter is a hollow ring. It's a hollow ring. There's no finger in. So let's close the book and let the day begin. And our marriage be a crown. But she smiles. She smiles and veins turn to ice. She smiles and heads bow down. She walks the room. A kiss is it. Every victim twice. She spreads her joy around. Do you close your eyes to see miracles? Do you raise your face to kiss angels? Do you float on air to hear her calls? But she both smiles, smiles. But she both smiles. She smiles. No doubt can cross her mind. Cross her mind. But she knows. She knows. She knows. She knows. She knows. She knows. She knows. She shares her love And sharing love is sharing wealth Take any pocket, please Do you close your eyes to see miracles? Do you raise your face to kiss angels? Do you float away to hear our calls? But she both smiles, smiles But she both smiles, smiles No sound can cross her mind No pain, no gains, no strength But she never seems to hurt Can't walk through the grave to sing this song Hello heaven, goodbye dirt For we know it should Do you close your eyes to see miracles? Do you raise your face to kiss angels? Do you float away to hear our calls? But she both smiles, smiles But she both smiles, smiles No sound can cross her mind Do you close your eyes to see miracles? Do you raise your face to see miracles? But she both smiles, smiles But she both smiles, smiles But she both smiles Do you close your eyes to see miracles? Do you raise your face to kiss angels? Do you float on air to hear oracles? That was Richard Thompson from Mach Tudor, Bathsheba Smiles. And before that was XTC, your dictionary from Apple Venus Volume 1. That was Andy Partridge's send-off to his wife on the occasion of their divorce. And coming up next is Moby. I see myself in the pouring home I see the light come over, no I see myself in the pouring rain I watch hope come over me Here we are now going to decide I pick up my friends and we start to ride Ride all night and ride all day Some may come along and some may stay Here we are in the pouring home I watch a light man for the calm I watch a light move across the screen I watch a light come over me Here we are now going to the west side Weapon in hand as we go for a ride Some may come along and some may stay Watching out for a sunny day When it's love and darkness in my sight The sun is Let it all, let it all go Here we are now going to the north side I look at my friends and they start to cry Friday night, yeah, we ride all day Looking out for a sunny day Here we are now going to the south side I feel my friends and they start to cry We won't die, we won't die Friday night, yeah, we ride to heaven and hell All that love, it feels so hell There's a magazine called Sunset And a tech machine that won't play If you ever forget this impossible I'll root for you Let's take a map across your pillow And breathe the sky in through your window I'll stay in the room and watch your books cave in Oh, maybe you're my inspiration Just lead me to somewhere I'll make you feel the sensation I'll make you let it go Make you call out loud Cause there's a magazine called Sunset And a tech machine that won't let Me ever forget this impossible I'll root for you! I'm a future fallout standing In the present race I've found And there's a magazine There's a magazine There's a magazine Oh yeah! Oh, yeah. Here comes the shit again. I got a Halloween head full of tricks and cheats. It leads me through the nighttime streets. Black hats and fallen trees. Under the light is always walking. Self-shape the spills just for it. Only you're strong again. I've got a bad idea. I'm going to talk after this, right? I'm going to be out of the wardrobe. I'm going to talk. I'm going to go around the scene. Okay. Halloween head. It's full of candy bags. Costume shops and parks and drag. It's full of tricks and treats. Places where junkies made in. It leads me through the streets at night. That's all right. I just watch. I don't care. The sun calls and side. It's all the same old shit again. I got a Halloween head I got a Halloween head Lord, I got a Halloween head Guitar solo I got a Halloween head Lord, I got a Halloween head I got a Halloween head Oh Lord, I got a Halloween head Here comes that shit again I got a Halloween head Head full of tricks and treats It leads me through the nighttime streets Downtown, downtown, downtown I got a Halloween head I got a Halloween head Lord, I got a Halloween head Lord, I got a Halloween head What the fuck's wrong with That was Ryan Adams from Easy Tiger, Halloween Head. And before that, Wilco, a magazine called Sunset from the Australian EP, which was featured in the film I'm Trying to Break Your Heart, the documentary, the Wilco documentary. And before that was Moby from Play from 2000, Southside. And we're going to play a couple more before saying goodnight. The next one is another one from the King's Misfits record. It's called Out of the Wardrobe, and it's kind of a novelty song, but it's very funny and very clever and really beautiful and quirky and nuts, and here you go. Has anybody here seen a chick called Dick? He looks real burly, but he's really hip. He's six feet tall and his arms are all brown and hairy. He married Maddie Lou back in 65 when you had to be butch to survive. But lately he's been looking at his wife with mixed emotion. You see, he's not a commonplace closet queen. He shouldn't be him, he shouldn't be seen. The bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad But Mama, Mama will positively die. Should she go or stay or should she try to get a trial separation? You see, he's not as faggot as you might suppose. He just feels restricted in conventional clothes. Because when he puts on that dress, he feels like a princess. He's not a dandy. He's only living out a fantasy. He's not a pansy. He's only being what he wants to be. Now his life is rearranged. That was the end of the show from Misfits from 1978. And I want to remind you all, we're going to be wrapping it up in a minute. But again, tomorrow, the 21st, at the Wheel of Wellbeing Lecture Hall in Westwood at 1575 Westwood Boulevard, Suite 303, One Taste is going to be presenting an orgasmic women's panel featuring five turned-on women from the orgasmic meditation community in LA. And there will be a Q&A, so you can ask them whatever questions you want. That's tomorrow night. Wednesday, August 21st, 2013 at the Wheel of Wellbeing Lecture Hall in Westwood. I want to thank you all for listening. This is the 14th episode. And we've had about 5,500 downloads so far, which is spectacular. And I'd like to ask you all to go to thehealingcodesradioshow.wordpress.com and let me know what you think. There's a feedback link there. There's a request link. Give me some comments. Let me know what you think about the shows because I'd love to hear from you. And I'd like to make it better if I can. And there's also a store there now where you can purchase recommended books and all the music that I play on the show can be downloaded by MP3s or you can purchase CDs. And I'd sure appreciate it if you do that. We can help keep this ship afloat. And we've got about five minutes left. We're going to play one more song. And we're going to... We're going to say goodnight. This next song is called a brand new song. It's by John Mellencamp from his record of 2008 called Life, Death, Love, and Freedom. I think it might be one of the best records of his career. It's one of the best records of his career. No might be about it. It's a great record produced by T-Bone Burnett. And it's available everywhere, anywhere. And really interestingly enough, it came as a DVD, an audio DVD, and a CD in the same package. And this is called a brand new song. This is the closing cut. And this is also the closing cut of the show. Thanks for listening. This is Jack Hunter Cohen, The Healing Hour Radio Show. Have a great night. Have a great week. And thanks for downloading. ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶ Sweet belly of a woman ¶ ¶ Every life ¶ ¶ Every life ¶ ¶ Every life ¶ ¶ You changed ¶ ¶ And everything you were after ¶ ¶ Was gone down the drain ¶ ¶ And nothing more than just a drift up ¶ ¶ As you walked down here ¶ ¶ Not exactly the picture ¶ ¶ You thought you'd be sending home ¶ ¶ All these places mean ¶ ¶ Nothing ¶ ¶ It's the people we count on ¶ ¶ Here without a purpose ¶ ¶ Gone without a song ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ Yesterday seems so sudden ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ Today seems to have no end ¶ ¶ ¶ So you button up the buttons ¶ ¶ ¶ Say goodbye to what has been ¶ ¶ ¶ Those black and white pictures ¶ ¶ That file through your veins ¶ ¶ ¶ That's the trouble with the future ¶ ¶ That always stays the same ¶ ¶ ¶ And your pride's been shaken ¶ ¶ And those people ¶ ¶ And those people you count on ¶ ¶ ¶ Here without a purpose ¶ ¶ And gone without a song ¶ ¶ ¶ Without a song ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ In the uncertainty of a new day ¶ ¶ ¶ An opportunity you may have ¶ ¶ ¶ You hear the voice in a new way ¶ ¶ ¶ In the past you didn't know how ¶ ¶ You're old enough to know the difference ¶ ¶ Between an enemy and a friend ¶ ¶ With the eyes of knowledge upon you ¶ ¶ And able to stand up again ¶ ¶ ¶ Life is always in motion ¶ ¶ And there's new people to count on ¶ ¶ ¶ Yeah, you may find a purpose ¶ ¶ But you can't change the world ¶ ¶ You're not alone ¶ ¶ You're not alone ¶ ¶ You're not alone ¶ ¶ You're not alone ¶ ¶ Yeah, you may find a purpose ¶ ¶ And sing a brand new song ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ Life is always in motion ¶ ¶ New people to count on ¶ ¶ ¶ Yeah, we find a purpose ¶ ¶ To sing a brand new song ¶ ¶ ¶ A brand new song ¶ ¶ ¶ Sing a brand new song ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶
