Welcome to Skid Row Studios in downtown Los Angeles, where we are recovering from a hell of a party, an anniversary one-year Skid Row Studios anniversary party.
Uh, holy shit.
That was fantastic.
It was fun.
That was bizarre.
Good time, good time.
I'm betting five bucks Jeremy doesn't stay conscious for the hour.
We might have lost him already.
I have not yet slept, but, uh, yeah, it was worth it.
That was a great party.
For those of you that don't understand the range that I have, by the way, in the past week, I was on, I had a house butler in Turks and Caicos, and then I had front row seats, or standing room only, for the musical act of Fuck Ass and the Grease Patrol.
Um.
If you were only going to see one musical act where a man in a mask jumps out of a box.
But he throws candy.
He does throw candy, and it was festive.
Here's the thing.
If I could have, like, by choice, that would have been the musical act at my bar mitzvah.
Without question.
Thirteenth greatest moment of my life was last night.
If he does weddings, I'm in.
Oh, that was fantastic.
You'll get married just to have him there.
I'll get married just so I can have him.
We are, this is the weekly wrap-up.

Met a lot of great people last night that we should have met already that work here, including the ladies that just did the show beforehand.
They're fantastic.
I think they're going to have a lot of fun with Drew in the near future.
That is great.
We are having phone problems, so you can call if you want, but it's not going to do you any good.
But we'll talk about, we're going to spend a lot of time talking about the VP, the VP debate, obviously.
Hopefully we'll do it quickly before Biden.
We're all going to do it.
With all due respect, that's a bunch of malarkey.
Sorry.
I apologize.
That's a bunch of malarkey.
There you go.
We'll get to that.
Passengers on a flight from Moscow to Syria got a little more turkey than they wanted when the Turkish military jets forced them to land.
Nobody was hurt.
Everything after that's gravy.
Can I say that?
Hello.
Thank you.
Sorry.
I apologize.
They also needed a nap.
And another sign of why the Taliban can't win, a 14-year-old girl slash activist, fantastic little girl, is expected to live after being shot at close range.
She was arranged in the head by a Taliban assassin.
We'll check in on...
They just suck on so many levels.
Yeah, we will get to that.
You can't get much more backwards than that.
We will check in on another voter ID law.
Afghanistan has very strong heads.
Yeah.
I will say something that I've never said before on this show, which is South Carolina has found a happy medium.
That's interesting.
We'll talk a little baseball.
Playoffs have started.
We have first triple crown winner since 1967.
And A-Rod gets 27. $27 million a year to sit on the bench and watch a cheaper player save his team.
That's fantastic.
And Supreme Court's hearing a case on affirmative action.
It's about time somebody's speaking up for white people.
That's key.
If someone could just speak up for the rich, we'd all have a voice.
Nobody knows the trouble I see.
So we're going to start off with the vice presidential debate.
I assume you guys have seen some, if not all of it.
I broke it up.
We got a bunch of clips from ABC News.
I broke it up into six categories.
Defense, economy, stimulus, 47% Medicare and the swimsuit competition.
Let's start off with the defense.
And we should not be imposing these devastating defense cuts because what that does when we equivocate on our values, when we show that we're cutting our own defense, it makes us more weak.
It projects weakness.
And when we look weak, our adversaries are much more willing to test us.
They're more brazen in their attacks and our allies are less willing to trust us.
With all due respect, that's a bunch of malarkey.
And why is that so?
Because not a single thing he said is accurate.
First of all, Be specific.
I will be very specific.
Number one, this lecture on embassy security.
The congressman here cut embassy security in his budget by $300 million below what we asked for.
Number one, so much for the embassy security piece.
Number two, Governor Romney, before he knew the facts, before he even knew that our ambassador was killed, he was out making a political statement which was panned by the media around the world.
We, we will not allow the Iranians to get a nuclear weapon.
What Bibi held up there was, when they get to the point where they can enrich uranium enough to put it into a weapon, they don't have a weapon to put it into.
Let's all calm down a little bit here.
This is the world's largest sponsor of terrorism.
They've dedicated themselves to wiping an entire country off the map.
They call us the great Satan.
And if they get nuclear weapons, other people in the neighborhood will pursue their nuclear weapons as well.
So that was, that was, you know, a summary of a whole lot of defense stuff.
There was Iran in there.
There was some other things.
They did Benghazi attack, which there was a hearing on.
We'll get to that in a little bit.
Can you connect this dot for me?
These two dots are morality and a big fucking bunch of guns.
How is the defense department directly connected to our sort of moral imperative on the planet?
It depends on your definition of moral imperative.
Well, I'm not even sure Ryan could spell it, but.
He doesn't have to.
He has numbers.
Here's another number for you.
14,000.
What?
Yeah.
As long as he makes that noise, I think that would work.
Oh, for God's sakes.
I mean, here's the thing is, it depends.
I mean, if you think there's time, there's times you want to go in and you would like to go in and say, you know, these people are going to get slaughtered.
I generally, I would like to go in, in Syria and help those people.
Except realistically, you can't.
You can't do it that cleanly.
So it's not going to happen.
Also, if you ask Paul Ryan, when are we going to use American boots on the ground?
All he was able to say was, well, it's got to be in the national, it's got to be in the interest of the United States.
Yeah, well, that was the thing.
That was the one thing where I thought.
Which is a very broad, vague thing.
It's like, at what point?
Vague much?
What constitutes in our best interest, you know, in our own security?
Well, that was the one thing where I thought Biden kept nailing him on that specific thing is, is where he, he kept saying, Ryan kept saying, you have no credibility.
You seem weak with these mixed messages, which is already ridiculous.
Obama's killed so many freaking people, you know, at the top of the list, some of which are on his secret kill list, which I think he's probably the only Nobel Peace Prize guy to have one.
Secret kill list?
Yeah.
But I mean, they're trying to make him seem, you know, weaker on that.
But.
Yeah, he's done more.
Yeah, no, he's done more.
So when Ryan says to, when Ryan says things like, you have no credibility and they take liberties, when Biden would say, what would you do?
And Ryan, there's no answer.
Would you want to start another war?
Well, no, we want to prevent war.
Well, how are you going to do that?
What are you going to do differently other than saying we suck?
That's the big question.
Right, exactly.
Can you give any specific at all?
Specifics?
I don't know.
Look, that's not the issue here.
The issue is that you have done things wrong.
It's not about what I would do.
Yeah, when he came with, yeah, when he came with, you have no credibility, Ryan said, you guys have no credibility.
We would have credibility.
Like what, what from the moment you get into office and haven't gone to war yet gives you more credibility than the guy that was just in there that had bin Laden killed and had- And if you can't get any plan.
Mitt Romney evidently is able to insult people all over the globe without even trying.
I mean, there's some credibility for you.
There is a foreign policy powerhouse, Mr. Romney.
Yeah, I'm not sure Romney and credibility come into play all that often in the same sentence.
So, I mean, that was- Didn't he show Bibi Netanyahu's house with a ham?
By the way, that is a, that is a, they're friends actually.
He could show up at Netanyahu's house with a ham.
They are, Romney and Netanyahu are friends.
Although I'm sure Biden is friendly with him as well.
But Bibi is such a bad name for a guy whose country has nuclear power.
Yeah, it's not exactly a hawkish title.
I don't want, yeah, I don't want somebody with their finger on the button to be called Babs either.
I'm not looking for that either.
But that's a side note.
So, I mean, on that one, that was tough.
But I think, I think for the most part, and we will get to it, because I think at this point, the Democrats still look pretty good on foreign policy.
However, we'll get to the Benghazi attack.
We'll talk about that in a little bit, because there's a hearing on that as Congress likes to, they can finally mobilize when they can get to a chance to point fingers at somebody.
But let's go to the clip on economy, on the economy.
Listen to this.
Let's look at where we were when we came to office.
The economy was in free fall.
We had the Great Recession hit.
Nine million people lost their job.
1.7, $1.6 trillion in wealth lost in equity in your homes, and retirement accounts for the middle class.
We knew we had to act for the middle class.
We immediately went out and rescued General Motors.
We went ahead and made sure that we cut taxes for the middle class.
And in addition to that, when that happened, when that occurred, what did Romney do?
Romney said, no, let the Detroit go bankrupt.
We moved in and helped people refinance their homes.
Governor Romney said, no, let foreclosures hit the bottom.
Did they come in and inherit a tough situation?
Absolutely.
But we're going in the wrong direction.
Look at where we are.
The economy is barely limping along.
It's growing at 1.3%.
That's slower than it grew last year.
And last year was slower than the year before.
Job growth in September was slower than it was in August.
And August was slower than it was in July.
We're heading in the wrong direction.
So pick your stats.
Pick your stats.
I'm sure they're both technically right and both technically not giving the whole picture.
And what Ryan isn't mentioning is that he and his gang of do-nothings up on Capitol Hill killed a jobs bill that would have employed close to $1.5 trillion.
Close to 2 million people.
Right.
How do you say, I'm going to thwart everything you do and then turn around and go, you're not doing anything.
For the record, they are typecasting themselves when you join a group called the gang of do-nothings.
That's not, that's not.
There is a lot of...
Is that a giveaway?
There is a lot of let's prevent the other side from doing something and then saying, hey, you can't get anything done.
Like the whole idea of Ryan saying, I can't give specifics because on the cuts to balance out the taxes, the tax cuts, because...
You know, I'm going to sit down with the other side.
You don't think that's been tried in the last three years?
Well, that's the thing.
When he says, we're going to do this, not by raising taxes or revenue, but by getting together and seeing what we can cut.
And he's like, it's never been done.
We can do it.
It's been done.
No, it's never been...
Tell us when it's been done.
It's been done.
People have reached across the aisle plenty of times.
Just not in the last three years all that much.
No, not...
Not since President Blackie Blackerson got in there.
He wasn't referring to, just reaching across the aisle, that it's never been done.
He's saying it's never been done where we have eliminated deficits simply by identifying where we can cut.
Oh, yeah.
That's because it can't be done.
You have to raise revenue.
Especially when you're adding $5 trillion in tax cuts that you want to continue with for the rich.
Right.
Also, they want to blow up the budget for another $2 trillion over 10 years for the Pentagon.
And the Pentagon has flatly said, we're good.
We don't want to retrofit.
These...
These are the 1,000 tanks that are sitting out in the desert in California.
But Congress went, no, yeah, you do.
You do.
And if you're not actually listening...
I mean, what was the one thing that we've always heard?
You got to listen to the commanders on the ground.
You got to listen to your generals.
Blee, blee, blee, blee.
Well, they say that until the commanders on the ground say shit they don't want to hear.
Like, I mean, that's what McCain said when they chew in this.
Commanders on the ground tell me you can...
We can get rid of don't ask, don't tell.
Then fine.
Then they said, okay, the commanders on the ground said...
He goes, you know what?
They're rushing into this.
This is not a good time for this.
We have people at war.
You're like, you always have people at war.
Have you not seen...
You always want to have people at war, these guys.
See, you're good at starting wars.
You're not so good at ending wars.
So they continue.
But at least they're lessening.
They are lessening.
We have one less, yes.
Let us go to our next section.
We got the stimulus.
Let's listen to this.
And I love my friend here.
I'm not allowed to show letters, but go on our website.
He sent me two letters.
He's saying, by the way, can you send me some stimulus money for companies here in the state of Wisconsin?
We sent millions of dollars.
You know why he said that?
He did ask for stimulus money.
Sure he did.
By the way, he...
On two occasions, we advocated for constituents who are applying for grants.
That's what we do.
We do that for all constituents who are...
I love that.
I love that.
This is such a bad program.
And he writes me a letter saying, writes to the Department of Energy, a letter saying, the reason we need this stimulus, it will create growth and jobs.
His words.
And now he's sitting here looking at me.
That was a good one.
That was a good one.
That was good.
Yeah.
But that's also prior to that, you know, Ryan had gone out in an interview and they said, you know, have you accepted stimulus?
Right, right.
No, I never have.
You've never have.
No, I never have.
I never wrote a letter.
In this debate, he's like, well, yes, I mean, I would like to call it something different.
Well, they have caught him on it before this debate.
Yes, he had said, I never had.
And they said, well, what about this?
He said, well, somebody in my office, had signed that.
You mean the way it always works.
Yeah, you know, somebody in your office signed that.
Yeah, no, when you can specifically say, hey, you're ragging on this whole policy, but what about this case when you used it?
Oops.
Yeah, he's definitely.
Not only just used it, but like credited it with doing the exact thing you are claiming it will not do.
And he's so not alone.
Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, did the same thing.
Yeah.
You know, bad mouthed it, bad mouthed it, the turnaround and gave one of those, you know, big checks.
Publishers clearing house fucking size checks away.
Going, hey, look what I got you.
More people signed up for.
Sorry, that was Joe Biden again.
He likes to interrupt every once in a while.
He's interrupting us now.
It's not that much different when they're like really down on FEMA.
It's like FEMA, we should get rid of that, you know?
But as soon as there's a disaster, it's like, could you guys send us some money?
Yeah, there's no doubt.
Well, actually, there's something with the FDA that, you know, they're big on cutting back regulations, but they want to give the FDA more power because, oops, everybody's getting meningitis, by the way.
We'll get to that a little later as well.
But yeah.
When did the term, my friend, turn into this douchebag over here?
Such a brilliant play.
I would like to say something.
My friend.
My friend, that basically turns into that, I think, during prime time on national TV.
And it's also, have you ever watched the parliament?
Yeah.
From England.
My right gentleman friend, which is another way of saying, this poncy fuck over here.
Yeah, but then they get violent over there.
That's good stuff.
It's true.
Turns into a soccer match.
We all get that.
Throwing chairs.
Yep.
Some Taiwanese Congress cage matches.
We may call it political bitch slapping.
That would be nice.
I'd like to see someone fly off the top rope.
That would be nice.
I mean, C-SPAN's numbers would go through the freaking roof, by the way.
Holy shit.
Biden hits him with a chair.
Holy cow.
Oh, that would be nice.
Between matches, you get a live performance by fuck ass in the grease control.
The speaker of the house, you know, once it starts to calm down, finish him.
Oh, that would be nice.
That would be nice.
That would be nice.
That would be nice.
Flawless victory.
Okay, so now, part of it, and we're going to get to the effect we think this is going to have, but part of the questions that, a big part of the questions that people had about Obama's performance, or lack thereof, was he never mentioned the 47% thing.
He didn't use things that he could use.
And at least Biden did not make that mistake.
Let's listen to this.
Romney's a good man.
He cares about 100% of Americans in this country.
And with respect to that quote, I think the vice president, very well knows, that sometimes the words don't come out of your mouth the right way.
I always say what I mean.
And so does Romney.
We want everybody to succeed.
We want to get people out of poverty, in the middle class, onto a life of self-sufficiency.
We believe in opportunity and upward mobility.
That's what we're going to push for in a Romney administration.
The idea, if you heard that, that little soliloquy on 47%, you think he just made a mistake, then I think you're, I think I got to bridge it to Celia.
Here's the problem.
They got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, turning Medicare into a piggy bank for Obamacare.
Their own actuary from the administration came to Congress and said, one out of six hospitals and nursing homes are going to go out of business as a result of this.
That's not what they said.
7.4 million seniors are projected to lose the current Medicare Advantage coverage they have.
That's a $3,200 benefit cut.
That didn't happen.
More people signed up.
Not from your own actuaries.
More people signed up for Medicare Advantage after the change.
What they're saying.
Nobody is shut down.
Mr. Vice President, I know, Mr. Vice President, I know you're under a lot of duress to make up for the lost ground, but I think people will be better served if we don't keep interrupting each other.
Good clapping.
Good clapping, I think.
First of all, still not used as effectively as you would like.
No.
I think Ryan did a good job there.
Ryan did a good job, first of all, with that pretty set line at the end.
A very good job.
But why would that not be used more?
Like, why would Obama have not slammed all over that thing?
The thing that really angers me about Obama's performance is he was really gaining ground.
It was, you had Republicans almost ready to jump ship.
They were floundering.
He was in an opportunity to really kind of almost pretty much deal a death blow, even though there were going to be more debates afterwards.
Finish him.
Yeah, he could have.
He could have.
He could have just about sealed this thing up with a strong performance.
And to phone it in and do such a poor job, it's unforgivable.
Part of it, part of it is what his opponent did.
Romney used a technique called the Gish Gallop.
And what this is, it's named after a creationist named Dwayne Gish.
Hold on.
Before we get to any of that, because I want to get to that, we're going to get to their performance and whether we think this, how much of a role this is going to have.
But let's wrap up the VP debate with, with Medicare, which should be big for the Democrats at this point in time.
Here's what we're saying.
Give younger people when they become Medicare eligible, guaranteed coverage options that you can't be denied, including traditional Medicare.
Choose your plan.
And then Medicare subsidizes your premiums.
Not as much for the wealthy people, more coverage for middle income people, and total out-of-pocket coverage for the poor and the sick.
Choice and competition.
We would rather have 50 million future seniors determine how their Medicare is delivered to them instead of 15.
And we would like to see more of those 15 bureaucrats deciding what, if, where, when they get it.
Vice President Biden, two minutes.
You know, I heard that death panel argument from Sarah Palin.
It seems every vice president of debate, I hear this kind of stuff about panels.
But let's talk about Medicare.
What we did is we saved $716 billion and put it back, applied it to Medicare.
We cut the cost of Medicare.
We stopped overpaying insurance companies, doctors and hospitals.
The AMA supported what we did.
We endorsed what we did.
And it extended the life of Medicare to 2024.
They want to wipe this all out, number one.
Number two, guaranteed benefit.
It's a voucher.
When they first proposed, when the congressman had his first voucher program, the CBO said it would cost $6,400 a year, Martha, more for every senior 55 and below when they got there.
He knew that.
Yet he got it.
All the guys in the room, they said, did the administration offer?
In the 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
In 18 years?
the current Medicare Advantage coverage they have, that's a $3,200 benefit cut.
That didn't happen.
What we're saying- More people signed up.
These are from your own actuaries.
More people signed up for Medicare Advantage after the change.
What they're saying- Nobody is- Mr. Vice President, I know- No, this isn't- I like that, I like that.
Yeah, I like when he literally just cuts him off like my parents would cut me off.
Exactly.
50 adults are talking.
Right, which is fantastic.
Quiet time for you, head on the desk.
Okay, so now, okay, there was a poll after that.
50% of the respondents on a CBS poll said Biden won, 31% said Ryan won.
50 to 31, I don't know where the other 19%, I guess it was close.
Undecided.
CNN poll, however, had Ryan winning by four points, 48 to 44.
Meaning, who the fuck knows?
They split.
It is like looking at a piece of art.
You see or hear what it is.
You want to hear.
If you went into that as a Ryan supporter, as a Romney supporter, you see Biden as a loud mouth, interrupting bully, and if you went in as a Biden supporter, you go, yeah, he finally called him on his bullshit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree with that.
Well, Ryan played the, it's called a Bogart, B-O-G-G-A-R-T, and it's someone who goes, and just, it's just nothing but boogeyman speech.
Like, I'm gonna throw out every frightening statistic I can, you know?
They're gonna lose 7 million seniors, and puppies and cats will be living together in sin, and frogs will fly out of the fucking world.
Yeah, I mean, it's just, it's, and that, and what I was talking about earlier, the gish gallop, is that you just bury your opponent in BS with just enough kernels of truth sprinkled throughout that he's, you would have to go through a mountain of bullshit to get to any sort of truth, and you'll just be bogged down in this other shit.
Right.
Right.
Right.
That's another guy's way of debating.
Yeah.
I mean, we talked about it before.
Here's, to the casual listener, the real information, the facts are out there, but the overwhelming majority of people are not going to go and find out what the truth is.
They're just gonna listen to this and base it on what they feel sounds truer.
That's what happens when they watch this.
It feels truish.
Yes.
Yeah, no, I- Funny you don't look truish.
But, yeah.
I hear truish people are cheap.
But- That's truish.
That can be truish.
But, you know, but that's what happens.
So it's all just, you know, who is more likable?
Who is- Which one to have a beer with.
Yeah.
So it's all bullshit.
Yeah.
It's like- You know what I mean?
Which bullshit are you going to believe?
Well, I think this also falls, I think it also falls along the line to, I think it helps, but it helps like every other story helps.
It helps long enough until the next story comes along, and then if that story overrides this story, great.
If it doesn't, then in your mind, you're one of those people that now defend this story as, oh, well, that happened.
Well, yeah, I agree with you.
If you're someone who's already leaning towards the right, then Biden interrupted too much, and he needs to cut it back into decaf maybe.
If you're not, then you go, all right.
Like if you're me, you're going, you may have interrupted a little bit, but I would like, that's a lot more of what I would want to see than Obama taking a nap.
Thank God he was interrupting nonsense.
Yeah.
That's what they hear.
But when it comes to things like, okay, whatever the figure he gave, you know, not a lot of the figures he gave, you know, 9 million seniors were going to be kicked off Medicare.
It's like, these people are not going to check.
Is it true that 9 million seniors are going to be kicked off Medicare?
No, they're not going to check.
More people will hear the lie than the fact check.
Yes.
Without a doubt.
Which is why Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone said, of course, Joe Biden rolled his eyes and laughed at this guy because he was throwing out absolute crap the entire time.
So no, you're not being disrespectful, Joe.
You're just looking at a guy going, good Christ, how much bullshit can one guy throw out of his face?
Are you really going to sit there and make shit up?
Exactly.
But the thing is, unless you are holding up, like, you know, it's too bad he couldn't have just had like a billboard and go, this is bullshit, look right here.
You know, but if short of that, you don't get the American people to check up.
I will say that was in, as far as most other debate, all other debates where they don't really let you communicate with each other, that was as close as they got to let them call each other on bullshit, which was enjoyable.
And Martha Raddatz ran a much better debate.
Maybe she has Jim Lehrer's pulse.
Maybe that's what happened.
I do have a suggestion on how they should run this though.
And I'm dead serious.
This would make a lot more sense.
If you have an unbiased panel, like of people at computers, you know how you have those phone numbers where like, if you have a question, you call up and there's someone like, what's the answer to this question?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, and you can like on your cell phone, just call and get a question to any stupid, you know, answer to stupid questions.
No, there should be an unbiased panel there.
Just a little bank of people on computers.
I've been saying that.
That anytime there's a discrepancy, they go, oh, I'm sorry.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay?
So let's go to?
Okay?
Here's the truth?
I agree with that.
Two problems with all that?
And then?
And then?
I want to move on to the presidential debate and what?
How?
Much?
We?
Think?
This?
Will?
Affect?
Any?
Of?
That?
Voting?
But?
I?
Agree?
With?
All?
That?
Side?
If?
but it's not going to happen.
They also don't want their people.
Now, what I think should happen is they should get rid of the parties in general.
So you no longer have to accept, well, I like this and this and this, but I don't like their religious views or I don't like this view or I don't like their social views.
How about, hey, here's five people running.
Here's a list of everything they believe in the categories you want to know.
And then you can vote as opposed to, I like these four.
I hate the rest of what they think, but that's more important than these three on the other side, which is bullshit, but there's too much money.
A number of our founding fathers had the exact same idea you did, Gus.
Just political parties are a bad idea.
Fucking socialists.
Okay, now here's the thing is, still, Biden did significantly better no matter what you thought than Obama and whatever Nike will he was on.
I think, because it was his anniversary, I think he got laid and smoked a fat one and then just all the motivation.
It's funny that you say that because it's funny that you say that.
The altitude?
Al Gore?
Gentlemen.
It's funny that you say that.
I didn't mean to say that because I'm going to put that on the list of things that are not even, that's not even the worst excuse I've heard.
Really?
Yeah, let's listen to this.
If Drew could have kept his mouth shut for a moment, we would have heard it for the first time.
But current TV and the Tom Joyner show, listen to these excuses.
I'm going to say something controversial here.
More on it.
Obama arrived in Denver at 2 p.m.
today.
Don't do it, Al.
Just a few hours before the debate started.
Step away.
Step away.
Romney.
Did his debate prep in Denver.
When you go to 5,000 feet.
Exactly.
Exactly.
And you only have a few hours to adjust.
That's interesting.
I don't know.
Maybe.
Can I say the first time?
To me, just one real quick thing here.
I just came from L.A.
the same day.
You know what I did?
I drank two cups of coffee before coming out.
If Air Force One just had some freaking coffee, we would have been all right.
Damn.
Damn.
Did no one at Fox.
I don't know.
It's fair to say I was just too polite.
Because, you know, it's hard to sometimes just keep on saying what you're saying isn't true.
It gets repetitive.
So, too polite.
Obama claims he's too polite, and Al Gore and friends claim perhaps if we just could have had some coffee.
Or if somebody would have let him know the altitude difference in Denver.
Has no one floated the idea of he smoked a fatty?
Has no one had it?
I'm sure there'll be a book about it.
Will you try to tell me there's not a fucking couple of vials of five-hour energy on Air Force One?
Exactly.
Outrageous.
I'm telling you, I think he and Michelle did the Freaky Dinky Bone Dance backstage, and he was just...
I can't buy that, because Clinton used to do that all the time, and he didn't miss shit.
Yeah, but he was a whole other sex machine.
Clinton had a woman in the podium during the debate when he was getting blown.
In sports, you get, like, you know, the pinch hitter.
Wouldn't it be awesome if, like, for the next debate, you go, standing in for President Obama will be Bill Clinton?
You know, it'd be like, oh, thank God.
His understudy.
Where you been, old man?
Oh, boy.
Nice.
You know Romney would just shit himself immediately.
Are you kidding me?
So Obama comes out and says, hey, you know what?
I was a little too polite.
I'll come out next time, and then this is the ad they release.
I'm Barack Obama, and I approve this message.
Bernie Madoff, Ken Lay, Dennis Kozlowski, criminals, gluttons of greed, and the evil genius who towered over them.
One man has the guts to speak his name.
Big Bird.
Big Bird.
Big Bird.
It's me, Big Bird.
Big.
Yellow.
A menace to our economy.
A menace to our economy.
Mitt Romney knows it's not Wall Street you have to worry about.
It's Sesame Street.
I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS.
Mitt Romney, taking on our enemies no matter where they nest.
Hi, ho.
I'm a little worried about that.
Hi, ho.
Is that, by the way, that was a mixture of a Muppet and Bill Murray.
I don't, is that, is that a good use of your money?
You're really, here's the thing is now.
That's not turning off any voters.
No, it's funny.
It's funny.
It's not convincing any either, probably.
I mean, that's a Saturday Night Live skit.
It sounds like a satire.
Yeah, that's a Saturday Night Live skit is exactly what that is.
I mean, you're not going to get people that are like, oh, God damn it.
No, well, they, Democrats wrapped up the Big Bird vote.
I mean, that's not.
Now they're pissing me off.
Yeah.
That's.
November 8th, Romney headquarters.
We'd have been in the White House if we'd only gotten the Muppet vote.
Really?
Ruined it.
Ruined it.
All right.
Well, new information has come out about the embassy.
People like to complain about Congress, but apparently they can really get shit together when it's time to find out who to blame.
Let's listen to this.
Let's begin this evening on Capitol Hill, where the first congressional hearing on those attacks in Benghazi, Libya, just wrapped up.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held the hearing, questioning top officials with the State Department and embassy security about the situation on the ground there.
U.S.
Security Officer Eric Nordstrom said he personally sent two cables to the U.S.
State Department asking for increased security while he was stationed in Libya.
Now, many more details about what happened that evening of September 11th in Benghazi emerged today, with a focus on who knew what, when and why certain decisions regarding security in Libya were made.
The bottom line here, the claims that the attacks that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens were a result of a protest gone awry are false.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
False.
now says the white male protest.
What happened on the night of September 11th had nothing to do with a controversial offensive video called the innocence of Muslims and everything to do with a group of armed men who came into the compound where the Benghazi consulate was based.
And after being unable to get to Ambassador Stevens directly, well, they set the building on fire.
Ambassador Stevens most likely died of smoke inhalation.
Okay, so there's a hearing, which is not a surprise.
The question is, is the hearing more political or is it a hearing you feel should take place or needs to take place?
Let me take a wild stab.
Is Daryl Issa at all connected to this hearing?
He is involved.
Yeah, then I would say it's probably political theater.
I almost don't have a problem with it.
I don't have, I mean, I think it has to be done.
Yeah.
How do you not have a hearing?
I mean, how do you not have a hearing to find out you don't want to keep making the same mistakes?
Yeah, no, I don't, I really don't have a problem finding out if, because look, in any situation, mistakes can be made.
And if, and if, if there weren't any, then let that come out.
If there were, that's fine.
However, you can still do a hearing without politicizing it and making it about the election.
Yes.
The hearing should, yes.
The hearing is unfortunately gone from, let's find out where there's a mistake made so we don't do it anymore to how can we weaken Obama's security or foreign policy platform.
Just like so many other things in this day and age where information is spread in a matter of seconds.
That's what creates a lot of the problems.
The video had been on the inner tube since June.
Well, well here, here is also the confusion is that, is that in Cairo, in Cairo, the video, they believe people were protesting.
However, less than 24 hours later in not that far away, there was what they initially assumed was also protest, but it was not.
It was a happy anniversary.
Calculated attack.
Right.
Yeah.
No, when I say that, you know, the, the thing that the, the inquest, you know, is going to, should focus on isn't whether it's a terrorist attack or not.
We, we know pretty much it was a terrorist attack.
I think they're looking at like, okay, how was the information disseminated?
That sort of thing.
Well, there's also things that are a bigger issue, which is, which is they, they did request specifically request more, more security, which was waived off.
And it was waived off by a woman who said, I waived it off specifically.
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?
In the beginning?

did vote not to give that money.
It's just easier in hindsight to go, oh, I can't believe they screwed that up.
Oh, yeah.
No, there's no doubt.
Like I say, when it comes to information being given out to the public, rumors in this day and age, whether it's bloggers, whatever, things are getting out as fact.
We talked about this on the train.
It's like there was a rumor I think two weeks ago that Morgan Freeman was dead.
Did you see that one?
All over the internet.
He actually had to post himself.
Yes.
I'm not dead.
All it takes is one person to go, it was this.
Then everybody runs with that story.
Yes, except it did come from actual people from inside the embassy.
Nobody's quoting blog people and holding anyone to it.
I agree with that.
Things spread pretty quickly.
The only problem is that the source came from someplace where it shouldn't have come from.
However, that's even vague because you're asking a question before we have all the info.
Here's the info we have.
We're giving it to you and we're being open with you.
As we get more information, we will change and reassess.
How do you feel about Romney going off half-cocked before?
That was ridiculous.
That shot himself in the foot.
If it would have kept his mouth shut, the same argument they're using now, they could have used without holding against him.
Oops, I'd look like a douche a half a day before that.
Staying in that part of the world, Turkey brought down a plane, didn't shoot it down, just forced a landing so they can search a plane.
Coming from Moscow to Syria.
Listen to this.
This is, I'll tell you where it's from when we get back.
Turkish military jets forced the Syrian passenger plane to land last night at Ankara after it entered Turkish airspace en route from Moscow to Damascus.
Today, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his government, acting on a tip, had found the plane was carrying Russian made munitions and military gear to aid the Assad regime in the Syrian civil war.
This was equipment and ammunition that was being sent from a Russian agency to the Defense Ministry of Syria.
This equipment is now being examined.
Something like this happening on a passenger plane is a violation of international flights.
Russian authorities had disputed earlier reports that military equipment was on board.
The plane was allowed to fly on to Damascus without the disputed cargo.
The Turks have voiced repeated frustration that Russia, a major arms supplier to Syria, has blocked multiple efforts in the UN Security Council to sanction Damascus.
All of this as tensions between Turkey and neighboring Syria have escalated sharply.
Ankara has been leading demands for Syrian President Assad's ouster.
Last week brought cross border shelling after a Syrian mortar attack into Turkish territory.
The Turks and the Syrian army have traded artillery volleys for several days since.
Now it's from PBS NewsHour.
There's not a single!
I wonder if I'll like, you know, two days later on the Turkish black market.
Hey, hey, lucky boy.
You want Kalashnikov?
Hey, lucky boy.
Cluster bomb, cluster bomb for you.
Cluster bomb.
And now as if possible wars around the world were not worrisome enough, the leader of Hezbollah claimed credit for flying a drone over Israel.
That's bad.
Speaking of poking the Jewish bear, by the way, the Berenstein.
Is that, do I owe somebody money for saying that?
I hope not.
So that's, you know, things are looking good over there.
Drew, we're going to, we've been thinking about having an on and in the field reporter, by the way.
I'm ready.
I'm working on getting you a ticket.
Put me in.
I'm working on getting you a ticket to Damascus.
That should be good.
Now, now, now bear in mind, Drew, that when we, when we say that we're embedding you, that doesn't mean you, you jump from bed to bed with all the Syrian women.
You will if you can.
You can't tell if they're women.
Anything with a sheet on it, just sleep with.
14 year old girl.
This is horrible.
This is horrible.
A 14 year old girl who, who was also an activist for women's rights and women's education has done more at the age of 14 than most people would do.
Was targeted by the Taliban for her stance.
Listen to this.
This is from W, this is from the Associated Press.
A 14 year old female activist known for promoting girls education in Pakistan's volatile SWAT region was shot and seriously wounded by a Taliban gunman Tuesday.
The teenager was struck in the head and neck but she is expected to survive.
The Taliban has taken responsibility for the shooting and the incident provoked outrage in Pakistan and around the globe.
Three years ago, the teenager began writing a blog for the BBC about life under the Taliban.
She also began speaking out about the need for girls education.
Last year, she was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize, which highlights the work of children worldwide.
Authorities say the teen was shot.
After the gunman walked up to a bus taking kids home from school and opened fire.
Nice.
How fucking backwards are those people?
This girl at the age of 11 was writing a blog about what it was like being under the power of the Taliban.
And they have claimed they will go back and get her if they want to finish the job.
Nice.
That's nice.
It's not even a lot to say about that.
It's just fucking needs to be reported.
It's horrible.
Hopefully this girl fully recovers and becomes, uh, their attack works the exact opposite way.
It wasn't how you rally people to your cause.
No, shooting, shooting a 14 year old and claiming credit for it.
And the fact that they even have a spokesman is freaky enough.
Um, all right.
Not a lot to say about that.
We hope she gets well.
Uh, voter ID law.
We'll check in on that from WYFF TV.
Listen to this.
A panel of federal judges approved South Carolina's voter ID law, but says it should not be implemented until next year.
The justice department blocks South Carolina's law to require photo IDs for all voters.
The state is one of a handful of states with racial discrimination in its past that must get justice department approval on any changes to voting laws.
And now the panel's decision clears the way.
I think it says that what we went about was not discriminatory.
It was not disenfranchising people.
I think it's a win for the image of the state, frankly.
A decision giving everyone the go ahead to focus on November 6th.
The Department of Justice issued a statement.
A statement that expresses appreciation that the law will not be enacted until next year.
And goes on to say that if the law change does take effect, that the U.S.
Attorney General will monitor it closely.
Yeah, you think so?
Well, South Carolina's got a little bit of history of not wanting certain colored people to vote.
I wonder what color you think he's talking about.
Any other one than white.
Uh, they, yeah.
But I will say this.
One of the things that made it easy.
They did not strike down the law.
They said the law is fine, but they can't use it until after this election.
Correct.
Which at least gives people more time.
Yes.
To get their IDs.
South Carolina has joined Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin with voter ID laws that have either been blocked or held off until after this.
Right.
The nice thing about Pennsylvania is that their official voting website still had the wrong information days after the decision.
Well.
And the outgoing recorded message still wrong.
You want that to be switched?
Geez, that's a message.
That takes weeks.
Weeks.
Geez.
Now, the one thing in South Carolina's defense as well is that made it, I think, easier on these guys is that they were saying, even if you show up and say, I don't have an ID, but sign an affidavit, just say, you know what, I couldn't get out because of work.
They said they're going to be ridiculously lenient with excuses.
Couldn't get out.
As long as you sign an affidavit, you can vote.
And then that way they can just follow the trail back to you if they need to check.
So here's the thing.
If you're going to make it that easy to vote either way.
Yeah.
If it's that easy to vote either way, got no problems with it.
Right.
Nobody's ever arguing that you shouldn't be allowed to vote for other people.
That's never been an argument.
The whole, but I have a problem with the entire premise of the whole voter ID campaign.
Well, yes, there's a reason one side.
Because there wasn't any fraud to begin with.
Right.
You're fixing something that doesn't exist.
Right.
But you can't argue the other side of, well, once they give a certain amount of time and if they're going to say, just sign this piece of paper and you can vote anyway, as long as they're letting people vote, then whether they're, whether they're, you know, they're going to have to do something.
Right.
Whether they're, whether their motivation is bullshit or not, you can't really argue.
No, no, no.
You should be allowed to vote with just you going in and saying, hi, I'm Jim Smith.
No, you should have something.
I mean, it's hard to argue that you should have something.
Right.
But what Texas says, your college ID, which has a photo is no good, but your NRA thing with no picture is valid.
Yeah, you're favoring one side.
Yeah.
That is slightly different.
Affirmative Action is back at nine years after it was, I don't know.
It was decided on the last time by the Supreme Court.
Newsy Politics has this.
It's a practice used by universities across the nation for decades.
And now the Supreme Court could be limiting the use of Affirmative Action based on race as soon as Wednesday.
According to CNN, students who graduate in the top 10 percent of each high school class in Texas receive automatic admission to UT.
But for those like Fisher, students below the top 10 percent are admitted through a process that considers many factors, including race.
Fisher believes she was unfairly treated because she's white.
Here's her statement.
There were people in my class with lower grades who weren't in all the activities I was in who were being accepted into UT.
And the only other difference between us was the color of our skin.
This type of admissions process is typical at competitive schools like Texas.
In past cases, the Supreme Court ruled race can be used as a way to promote student body diversity.
However, if Fisher wins her case, this could mean colleges do away with Affirmative Action.
But the Chief Counsel for the American Society of the United States, the Center for Law and Justice, says society has changed.
He says Affirmative Action is no longer needed in college admissions.
I think that giving race as a factor is demeaning to those of those racial classifications.
Some of the leading surgeons of the world, legal academics, and Supreme Court justices are minorities, and they've done quite well.
Affirmative Action was last seen on the docket in 2003.
The Supreme Court upheld the use of the practice in a 5-4 decision written by Sandra Day O'Connor.
Nobody's saying give Affirmative Action to the Supreme Court.
They're saying give it to the Supreme Court.
They're saying give it to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court justice, by the way, is an idiot.
It's like, well, look, see, there are successful black people.
You don't need it.
That's not who you're giving it to.
In Ann Coulter's latest book, she said racism is dead in the United States, so it must be true.
Well, no, I agree with that.
Racism is dead.
I had a black guy on my show yesterday.
Yes.
Yes, but he did just stop to ask directions, and you closed the door on him.
But sure, he was there.
I didn't, yeah.
And then you hit all the cell phones.
But that's besides the point.
Within 30 years, or even less, white people will be the minority here in the United States.
Then they'll want affirmative action.
Fucking A, man.
They're going to revisit that real- Well, yeah, these same people are the same people that think reverse racism is a bigger problem than racism.
So yeah, no doubt.
If we're that careful, we're going to- But they also, the funny thing is they credit, they look at the people, it's like the people on the Supreme Court and the doctors, but they don't look back and go, okay, but did affirmative action help them to achieve those things?
Yeah, they're claiming you don't need to use it because they're successful black people, but you're like, yeah, but they- Yeah, but they don't say they did it without it.
Right.
You know?
Well, that's, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
That's what's so ridiculous about that guy's point is here are people that are already successful, so they don't need it.
Well, again, nobody's giving it to them.
Nobody's suggesting the Supreme Court justice.
They already have the privilege of being rich.
Right.
They don't need that.
But what I'm saying is they might have achieved that simply because it exists.
Nobody's arguing with you, dude.
We fully understand.
We're with you.
Welcome back.
Hi.
How are you?
You doing all right?
I like it.
Let's move on to a little baseball.
Drew, now you can go back to sleep.
Thank you very much.
Jeff, this one is for you from the White House.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Jeff, this one is for you from Major League Baseball.
Posey, deep left field.
Way back and a grand slam for Buster Posey.
The Giants break it wide open.
So, baseball playoffs are here.
That was the San Francisco Giants coming back from having one hit, being no hit in the sixth inning of being down zero games to two, facing elimination.
Came back, won that one, won the next two.
They have moved on.
And Yankees have beat Baltimore.
They are now down one game to nothing, I believe, in the next round to Detroit.
And San Fran is going to be playing St. Louis, who had a miraculous comeback in the ninth inning of their game five.
A lot of game fives.
A lot of game fives, a lot of extra innings.
I mean, if this is what two wildcard bonus teams do, I'm all for it.
This was an exciting, exciting week of baseball.
You're going to have 162 game season, and you're going to play a game that's going to be a lot of fun.
You're going to have a lot of fun.
You're going to play first one to win three.
That's after the two wildcards, by the way.
Yeah, it's- Two wildcards play 162 games.
One of them has six more wins than the other one, and then they play one game to see who moves on.
One game.
That part's ridiculous.
I have no problems with the wildcards going, all right, we'll play a short thing.
You got lucky to get there.
But 162 game season, which is already, according to Drew, 165 games too long.
And yet then you come with, okay, play one game.
And even the next round, go with three out of five.
You don't even get all the way through your starting pitchers in three wins.
Right.
No, yeah, it needs tweaking.
It needs tweaking.
It needs tweaking.
A-Rod gets $27 million a year.
They pinch hit for him in the ninth inning, gives up his replacement, gives up- Suck it, A-Rod.
It's a home run.
Home run, then next time up, hits the game winning home run.
And it couldn't happen to a cooler guy.
I mean, Raul Ibanez is what, in his late 30s?
He's been around with a bunch of different teams and- He's not a looker.
He's not a looker.
Nice.
Nice.
Nice.!
Miguel Cabrera wins his first Triple Crown, wins the first Triple Crown in baseball.
Since 1967, is that correct?
1967.
Hello.
Triple Crown is best average, most home runs, knocked in the most runs.
And first guy to do it since Carl Eustremski of 1967.
Yes!
Which was a year after Frank Robinson did it.
But it's been 45 years since anybody has done it.
Congratulations.
And unfortunately with baseball, this happens when you mention that to anybody.
And I'm not saying that's a bad thing.
I'm saying that's a bad thing.
I'm saying that's a bad thing.
I'm saying that's a bad thing.
Because when you mention that to anybody, they go, I hope he doesn't test positive for something.
Actually, that rang around my head as well.
It rang around everyone's head.
Man, I just hope he did it cleanly.
It is the sport.
All right, let's move to headlines.
Far and away, my favorite man who's ever punched a horse died this week.
Alex Karras, former lineman for the Detroit Lions, the dad from Webster, and Mongo from Blazing Saddles passed away from kidney failure.
Mongo, no understand.
Mongo just pawned in Game Over Life.
That was sad.
He is- I'll never get that telegram now.
The lead plaintiff in a suit filed in Philadelphia among 3,500 retired football players claiming the league did not protect him.
Apparently was a victim of dementia later on in life as well.
Meningitis was getting upset that the West Nile's virus has been getting on the press lately.
Lawmakers widen their investigation into a deadly meningitis outbreak that has been blamed for killing 14 people in six states.
They have basically located the place- Right.

force, I guess you would expect when your medicine that your company makes is killing people, your business may go down a little bit.
Now, are they going to bounce back like Jack in the Box did after killing those kids?
They might.
They might.
They might.
Continuing our ongoing segment of don't mess with the Lohan, cops were called to the Lohan residence to break up a fight between Lindsay and her mom, which occurred after the bar closed at 2 a.m., but not wanting to be outdone for the run for the worst parenting ever, when Lindsay called her dad for help, he recorded the conversation and sold it to the MC.
No.
That is nice.
No, he didn't.
Yeah.
In the call, Lindsay said her mom was on cocaine, which she now says is a lie.
I like how people accuse themselves of lying now.
My mom was on cocaine.
Oh, you heard that?
No, it's not true.
Why would anybody say that?
I'm not mad anymore.
Who in this family is not a scumbag?
I don't understand.
And in another, actually, this is a brand new segment.
Holy shit.
You're quite racist for an elected official segment.
Oh, God.
Arkansas State Republican Party leaders have announced they will no longer be offering support to Representatives John Hubbard and Loy Mock.
Those are fantastic names.
Hubbard wrote a book in 2010 where he claimed slavery was a blessing in disguise.
Sure.
That's nice.
Very, very good disguise.
If they hadn't been brought here, they might not have thrived.
You know, Johnny boy, if you think that's so really cool, why don't you go be a slave for about 30 years, bubba?
Exactly.
That's how you dig it.
Then.
And Mock, Mock, that brainchild, he wrote several letters to the editor of the paper against Abraham Lincoln, who I didn't know was still running for office, and then also was in favor of a keynote address that favored John Wilkes Booth.
That's nice.
Well, I think the Republicans have been trying to lose Lincoln for a while because he was obviously a socialist and he liked black people.
And Texas authorities found drugs and a gun on rapper Nelly's tour bus.
Shock!
As it passed the border checkpoint where several celebrities have already been arrested.
If I've learned anything since doing this show, by the way, several, several months ago, I've learned that do not, do not bring your tour bus to the Sierra Blanca freaking border crossing.
Stay the fuck out of Texas.
Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Fiona Apple, Armie Hammer, all these people nailed it the same crossing.
Yeah.
Little Wayne.
Well, Little Wayne, any crossing they could have.
They found after searching, after the dogs came on and said, the dog actually just raised his paws and went, yeah, obviously.
And, uh.
Rapper!
They searched harder after that and found, oh, here's 10 pounds of pot next to the heroin and the other pot and the gun.
But somebody else took blame.
Nelly did not get arrested.
Somebody else, fortunately for him, took blame.
Who will be living a long time in Texas.
