Lakers road trip, Notre Dame football, NFL Thanksgiving games discussion

Yeah, I was here But we did talk about that game And then I went home and watched it It was the Houston-Laker game Yeah I thought Houston would squeeze it out But the Lakers ended up Pulling away by a lot, right? Yeah, I mean, like I said It was just Yeah, Antonio's first game I expected 0-D between the two So that worked out But I mean, that's the last Good thing we could have said About the Lakers week Because right after that They went on a road trip First game, Sacramento That's the game I did not see happening It was just terrible production, man I couldn't believe it Did you see that game, too? I was there, too I was there, too I was watching it on highlights Yeah, man, that thing It was Kobe being on fire All of these games, by the way There's just no stopping Kobe And then the rest of the team Is just not producing Yeah, but Dwight's been like Dwight and Powell both In the last two games Have looked like I mean, their numbers look like It's one game Like 12 and 11 14 and 12 And, you know I don't know what is going on in there But something needs to make sense Because you guys have a huge big man game That could be had That needs to be had And it's not working out for some reason Yeah I mean, in the I think in the Sacramento game Dwight only took four shots That was him, I think Yeah, that makes no sense That makes no sense That's the guy you want activating the ball Although his role Has been changing Instead of just like Slamming it down every time When he's not really He's not getting a lot of You know, throw-ups in the air For him to slam down And, too, he's working I like what he's doing off the bench Because he's doing He's playing the way he played in Orlando Which is Kick the ball out to him Let the double come Kick the ball out I mean, they're going to be dunking a lot But it's going to be It's going to be It's going to have to be When Steve Nash gets back I mean, you know Because he's that type of guy Who can throw up those layups Throw up those lobs But for some reason You know, I mean I don't get what's going on with the Lakers I don't get why Dwight's Performing so low Powell, I can kind of understand Because he's been on a constant Kind of, you know Come down for quite some time But Dwight It makes no sense to me It makes no sense to me That he's Getting seven points a game And six boards That makes no sense Well, versus Dallas Dwight had a good game It was a great all-around effort Yeah And, I mean Not to say that Let's just put Metta's name out there Metta is just doing work Last game, he had 27 points That's as much as Kobe had And I think that was a career high for him Yeah, but is Metta going to be the guy That you go to To win championships? The good thing about it is If he has If he's playing with the confidence He has now In the playoffs He's shooting I mean, absolutely He's not the guy I'm going to rely on For sure But it's great to have somebody Relieve the pressure off of Kobe But it's scary when a guy Like Metta's the guy Scoring 27 for your team Well, that's a big problem to me The other person Especially when you got guys like Powell, Dwight, Kobe And, you know, Steve Nash On that same lineup You know, Metta shouldn't be The guy scoring 27 I agree completely And that's the thing That's bothering me the most Hey, what do we do with Powell? Because Powell's the one lacking now In the last game He even had I mean, he didn't have The strongest of games I wish you would have had 27 points His game has been This is the best game He's resorting to open shots But from mid-range So you're seeing him Get some open shots Top of the key You know, from the free throw line Or whatever And he's thinking Some of them But that's the only shot And he's That's not the best way To utilize him I just I really don't understand How the team's not messing You know It's You have Two of the best big men In the game You know, the best player Overall Historically Still active in the game In Kobe And he's I mean, I just don't get it You know, I don't know if it's I think they should have went with Phil To be totally honest I don't think D'Antonio Was the right, you know, call But that's my personal opinion I think time will tell with that But They're not looking any better Than they were with Mike Brown Right now to me I think they're looking way better Than they were with Mike Brown And I think the The protest of a good team Is always on the road And I'm just happy they did You know, they put the ass-whooping On Dallas Because that's the payback Yeah, but Dallas sucks I mean, yeah Yeah Kirk's not in the lineup You know, you went Sacramento I mean, that's a That's a tough loss Like, if you're really trying To be a playoff team You're losing to teams like Sacramento Yeah, but you also lost To the Grizzlies And not by that much, either Well, the Grizzlies Are a good team this year Yeah The Grizzlies are, like A really good team They could be at the top Of the Western Conference By the end of the year Absolutely They're Possibly the best team In the Western Conference Right now The Clippers I think Record-wise They might be up there One or two Yeah, and we'll talk about that later When we talk about the Clippers as well Because they're on the losing streak As well So, Memphis is definitely I mean That was a measured loss If we were going to lose Any game On that road Trip It definitely Definitely Would have been against the Grizzlies Sacramento I didn't see that happening Yeah, that was If you have a terrible performance All around Then I mean, Kobe can't I mean, the purpose of people Like Like Like Dwight coming in Is to relieve the pressure From Kobe Not for Have to make him Score 30 You have He has to score 30 In order for us to win Yeah, Kobe's not supposed to be The MVP type guy this year He's not He's supposed to be Relieving You know, 22 But guys just going around him Type guy Yeah No, I feel you on that But for some reason It's not working out I don't know I'm always a big person In terms of Thinking that it takes a year To mesh So, we'll see Maybe that's That's a true point of the case But Right now It's just not working out I don't know I don't know why It's coaching or I completely agree That it's a whole One year thing to mesh Yeah Like When Powell Came in You know You went to the championship But you lost to the Celtics And they looked better than you But the next year You come back And you looked way better than them Because Powell and Kobe Were working off of each other And they looked good together And Yeah And just I think about sports In terms of like Where chemistry really has Really matters Oh, we have a caller Hey You're in the sports booth Please tell us who you are Hello Hello Fish Who is this? We're just talking about The Lakers road trip How the first two games Were pretty unimpressive Well, the Memphis game Was something we said Okay, we saw that But the loss in Sacramento Was not one that we thought Was a good loss The great performance From Dallas But something that I was Going to bring up Is what do we do with Powell? Because Powell is just Not performing And I don't think He's really meshing well With the new system You know, you just got to In D'Antoni's system He's, you know, he's got to You know, he's farther away From the basket He's not liking it very much But I think there will be You know, there will be Some adjustments made He'll be happy It's just The transition's difficult for him And I mean, you see The benefits though Antoine Jamison Is having a great Few games here And I think that's good For our bench I mean, a lot of people Are talking about Powell getting traded But I think that's just Spoiled Laker fans You know how we are That happens every year It happens every year Trade Powell Trade everyone, you know But he'll be okay D'Antoni's going to be The smart guy He'll tweak it And I think he'll be okay I don't know What do you guys think? Well, I like I like Because I see Powell As a definite finesse player And he's the guy who can He can knock down Those mid-brain shots If he can knock down 75% of those shots Awesome Right But My beef Is all I've been with Powell Is that he's Pogasoft And in the post He gets bullied around And he's You're a big man You're supposed to Get in those rebounds You're supposed to Bull your way into that Into the Get a foul called You know? I mean, the way I look at it is Is that I'm a Bulls fan And we had six great years Six championships You're a junk Okay, thank you Thank you very much And But I think Porter's kind of On point with this In terms of having Spoiled Laker fans Let's remember The reason why you won These last two championships Okay, Kobe's MVP Was Powell Gasol So for me To say Oh, let's trade this guy Who, in my opinion Is the reason why You won two championships Because it wasn't happening Without Powell I'm not saying that's true I'm not saying he was The main person in the deal Because it was Kobe But he wasn't far behind It was like Shaq-Kobe Type stuff But Kobe was the leader In this one So You know, it's hard for me To hear him say trade Powell I don't think you need A trade Powell I think with him and Dwight I think it's a perfect mix But You know, for some reason Like Porter said I think it spoiled Laker fans Who just You know Want the here and the now And either way You're going to make playoffs That's all that matters In basketball Because there's no buys So it doesn't really matter Okay So as long as you make The playoffs, you're good You don't want to play The Thunder first round But You know, if you get that You know, six, three seed You know, like Who cares? Really Yeah, and when Nash comes back Which is a big thing You already mentioned It's going to I think he's going to be able To operate off the pick and roll A lot better Absolutely 100% Just Yeah You'll be getting Great passes Deeper and closer To the To the To the hoop And that's what you That's what I want to see From Powell Is that, hey You're going to have Open mid Range shots But you're going to know When to run And get those And know what to do When you hit the ball When you're in the paint, man It's just hard The other thing too You know, we take for granted His passing You know, when Nash gets in there And talk about the pick and roll You know, he can dish it To Howard as well Or Kobe in the corner You know There's so many other things That, you know Are going to be opened up Because of that, so Well, another thing That's kind of Irking me a little bit Is the amount of shots Kobe is taking Because he's taking Again Around 22 21 shots And that's when his Like, percentage drops I mean In the last game In the game Versus Dallas I think In which they won He was like 9 for 22 9 for 22 Is a terrible Shooting percentage And that's not The numbers that he's Been putting up In the beginning Of the season And again That's because he's forcing He's forced to activate The ball a lot A lot more Well, I mean Talking about that I mean I really like The win Against Dallas That was a great Team game The bench showed up And that looks More like the team I want to see play Every day Or every time they play I thought that was great But like you said You know Kobe shooting percentage That game Not the best But I feel like Overall, you know He's been very efficient I think maybe even The most efficient Of his career So I'll take those You know Two or three games Where he's You know Doing the Kobe thing And just say Well, you know what It's going to happen I mean He can't You know Have a great percentage Every night But I like that he feels You know Comfortable And I mean Honestly If If Pow and Pow are doing their job You know These are rebounds We should be getting anyway So let's Just chuck him up Kobe I'm totally waiting For the rebound game To come in as well Because I can't begin To tell you how much How important rebounds Are in the game Because there's a lot Of percentage of shots That just don't go in And what happens Is we're just Giving away Offensive rebounds Zach Randolph Had about What 11 rebounds By the half Five of them Were offensive rebounds You know And that means You're not You're not looking Not to get that ball He's a hustler Yeah He's a hustler And what you'll see A lot of the time Is Dwight's positioning He's always under the hoop Ready to get that pass When a shot goes in He gets boxed out And he's not going To find that You have another Big man in Pow And he's always Super far away From the From the From the hoop But you know Who's Producing a lot With the rebounds Is totally Jameson Oh yeah Yeah he is He's I'm sticking to it I'm gonna say Georgia Beach Bama And Georgia plays In the game Okay Cause in the mix It's us I think South Florida Ohio Georgia and Bama And Bama seems to be The favorite right now But you're sticking to Georgia I'm gonna stick to Georgia Just cause I picked them Last week But I mean it's obviously Gonna be the winner Of that game Yeah It has to be It's Alabama Alabama has to Has to play them Sweet Lou They have to? You know I'd really I'd really like Us to have to play Georgia And National Tile Game But I'm just gonna Have to go with Bama I mean There's just still Such a scary presence Out there Do you think Any of these other I mean obviously I think Alabama Would make it And I think if anyone Were to beat Notre Dame It probably would be Alabama But I don't I don't believe Georgia would be able To do it Or Ohio State And I'm all about Seeing a more Competitive And exciting game I mean historically You wanna see Notre Dame and Bama Like that's a That's a good thing Great historic game Right? Like I mean Notre Dame hasn't Been there in years But they're historically A good team Against you know Who's the team That's been there In the recent years And also has The longevity In terms of winning Championships over You know decades Along with it In Bama So I mean Bama and Notre Dame Would be a I mean in two Defenses Yeah they're two Classic franchises Programs not franchises Programs They might as well Be franchises I know I always get into That argument That You gotta start Paying college players Or something You know A big incentive Because there's so much So much money Being made off of them I think everyone here Agrees with you on that Yeah But you're not There's no way to do that Yeah Because the The most money Would always be The best player I just want like 300 bucks to go To some banquet But don't worry About wearing I mean yeah It's probably It's probably not feasible To actually pay them But do we really Have to like Get on them Just for receiving You know A couple of gifts Here and there Or for example What happened To Ohio State guys Like they They got in trouble For selling their own Property I mean on Hanukkah I know I take gifts But that's just me Well the thing That I would love to see Is to have Games that are shown On there Through ESPN Have money from that Go to their programs Because a lot Of A lot of A lot of Games get shown On ESPN3 And you also have The barrage Of random games On Fox Sports ESPN And all the other Broadcasting MTVU does Those games Or any network Exactly Exactly So you get out But I mean That's the whole I want to see my kid Play thing And I know he's Going to be on TV You want him Telling me that He loves his mama You know that type of deal You gotta love your mama You gotta love your mama Or your daddy You can't be a football player If you don't like him I love both of my parents Equally I'm out you know So that's really Interesting guys So Bama Notre Dame We can only Speculate until I'm assuming next week Because I mean Notre Dame was the only Team in position To clinch This week I mean in all Honesty I mean Unless somehow Some fluke Of something happens And Florida gets in there It's whoever wins The Georgia-Bama game Yeah It has to be Since fate would Have their 2-3 So it'd have to be Like either You know Georgia barely won And Florida scraped Whoever they played And somehow Moved ahead You know But in all honesty It's probably going to be Whoever wins Georgia-Bama So It has to be The outcome of that game Yeah President Obama Said that You know He's taking responsibility Or credit for Playoffs being considered Into like The college realm None of us have been Saying that for years I know right Are you president? Are you president? No So I think I feel better About him doing anything But that Like just I think you have a country To run dude Hey man That's a lot of influence Have you ever followed His brackets For the Oh yeah He's always Top percentile bro Yeah You gotta give that Some respect brother He's calling the game Somehow I don't know He has that power He's a president Yeah He definitely He definitely Doesn't follow tubes Yeah So if There was a If there was a playoffs Do you think It would stay one and two? I think it allows teams Like TCU Boise State On years that they make runs Get in there And that's really What I think the playoffs Is about I really think the best Case scenario Would be eight teams But I think four is In the step In the right direction I'm just so angry That they made it For such a long period of time Because I think it's like Ten years Until they can change that But at least it's something In the right direction There needs You know you need to be Playing for something The reason why we like NFL so much Is the underdog story The reason why we like The NCAA tournament Is the underdog story So when the one Always faces the two It becomes boring to people And when your team Gets one loss It becomes boring You know because your team Gets one loss You're like I'm out Of the national championship run You have to go undefeated That's a lot of pressure But there's a lot Less parity in college football Yeah Yeah But there's always A few teams That are undefeated I mean I agree with you There's always the excitement Of knowing that hey There's a chance Like how about this We all knew the Patriots At 18-0 Were the best team That year right Yeah But it was fun To see the Giants beat them It wasn't fun I don't know what you're talking about But on paper It was you know We all knew You were the best team And you know That's the thing In college football Is usually the best team wins That's not fun We like the underdog story That's why we like The NCAA tournament You know last year Was kind of a boring tournament Why? Because Kentucky won They were the one seed And we thought they'd win And it's not supposed To go like that You know we like The underdog story And that's why I think You know In this situation That's why I just think It's you know I agree with you The thing is You have the problem though Of you'll always have Those lower ranked teams Who There'll still be discrepancies I think among the lower ranks now Instead of the threes and fours Getting upset It'll be the fives and sixes Getting upset Yeah but at least There's enough teams Who'll get opportunities At this point I'm just saying You'll never You'll never like Squash that whole But most likely If you go undefeated If you go undefeated You'll be in that top four Most likely correct?
