Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality.
But there is unseen by most an underworld.
A place that is just as real but not as brightly lit.
A dark side.

I want to thank you, Mike, for your contribution to the show.
I wish, like I said, a fucking chimp would do more.
But anyways, it's been great having all of you here.
I want to thank all of you for listening.
I've been getting inundated with a lot of support messages and get well messages.
And I really appreciate that.
That's very kind.
I'm not going to make the show a whole fucking big pussy fest because we're going to end it the way we started it.
It's subversive and crazy.
But I did want to acknowledge everybody for being kind and giving the fuck.
I'll even bring it up.
I think even the people who followed us at our old, and I'll say it, dude, KNEC, I don't give a shit.
We're out there.
We're out there.
So KNEC, all the people who started listening to us from there and have followed us, again, much thanks.
And KNEC can eat a huge penis, big old throbbing dick.
Oh, well, it looks like we're not going back there, are we?
We can call this the fucking.
Set the bridge on fire show, dude.
I don't give a fuck.
At KNEC when we were over there.
We didn't eat over there.
You know what I mean?
They didn't give a fuck about what we were doing.
But, you know, I want to thank them, too, because if it wasn't for them.
If it wasn't for them.
If it wasn't for them opening the door.
Long Paul and Mosh and John and all the everybody else there.
Crazy Craig.
Yeah, there's a dick over there I'm not going to mention.
But anyways, I've been asked why the show is ending.
And let's just put it this way.
Everything real and true and underground.
It's end.
And I'd rather end it on a high note like this than to, you know, obviously decline.
Squabble.
I'm going to miss each and every one of you.
One of the biggest joys that I've always had was turning on people to some good fucking music.
And we're going to start off this set right here with some good music.
But before we get into this, let me just say that we're ending the show with some stellar guests, man.
The Icon of Fallballs, which is one of the bands that we nurtured.
We championed.
Yeah.
You know, great band here locally.
It was funny because when I first met the guy and he gave me his CD, I was like, oh, boy, I'm going to do some dope on this and then throw it out the window.
But it was actually really, really good.
Icon of Fallballs, this band has gone on to become, I would say, very well recognized in the underground.
Well, well recognized and well respected.
Very well respected.
And as a matter of fact, let me just mention this.
Bulldozer Magazine, which is the magazine that I contribute my articles.
Why don't you show that to the camera?
There it's out.
Boom.
OK, so that's an example of real underground publication.
There's a CD that comes with it.
If you order it, I believe the first 300 CDs have this compilation.
This is a compilation of local Los Angeles bands and the Icon of Fallballs are on this CD.
It's a really great CD.
So make sure you go to the Bulldozer Mag site or look them up on Facebook.
Order the magazine.
Read the articles, especially the ones that I wrote.
It would really make me feel good.
And listen to this CD.
Anyways, we're going to start the show with a band that's in town that's going to be playing in Orange County.
Pentagram.
Great band.
With St. Vitus.
Awesome.
And The Shrine.
A great band as well.
And a band called Cadaver.
And there's a whole list of great bands.
So, Mr. X, why don't we end this show with a nice swan song and get into some heavy shit.
Hit it.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.
Alright.

I can't believe Artie Lang is more fucking, dude.
Yeah.
Betty White.
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
I mean, if you want to throw in Cloris Leachman, too, fucking right on.
I got to start smoking some marijuana or something, man.
You know, maybe now that we have the time off, I'm going to start fucking growing weed or something, man.
Yeah.
Hey, you're in the right state.
I'm hanging out with Salvador and Mike.
I didn't finish that story at Black Sabbath, right?
And the guy was very gracious enough to, you know, try to get me out of my funk there.
You know, obviously the Prozac wasn't kicking in.
And he goes, hey, I'm going to take you to a fucking Black Sabbath, which part of me is cringing.
I'm like, oh, God, I got to spend time with this motherfucker.
But it's Black Sabbath, right?
It'll be loud.
And as you know, last year I had a lot to say about, you know, Black Sabbath and the whole Bill Ward situation.
And I admitted on the air last year that when they played, I was pretty fine.
I was pretty firm and I was pretty, you know, I would like to say credible with my feelings and my stand.
But the day that they played, I felt like, you know what, man, I think I'm fucking up.
I should have went, you know?
Yeah.
So this time around, I said, you know what, I'm going to suck up my pride.
And, you know, graciously, Salvador and Mike got me a ticket.
And I got to tell you, it was, I wish I never would have went.
It was very disturbing, to say the least.
One of the things that was interesting was the new audience that Black Sabbath, appeals to, which is this whole, you know, Mr. X, you're a white guy.
Why don't you go?
Boom.
Could you elaborate here?
Yeah.
I'm almost out of here.
You're Caucasian.
Okay.
Well, what was interesting was like, it seemed, everyone uses the term hipster.
Okay.
Hipster this, hipster that.
Here in downtown Los Angeles, we've discussed this before, a huge metamorphosis has happened.
Yeah.
It's like fucking, it's like the East Coast in Southern California.
Now these apartments being built and lofts and this whole new different type of demographic.
Trying to turn downtown into Manhattan.
Yeah.
It's a trip.
But when you go see Black Sabbath, you know, you kind of have in your mind this, you know, the generalization of the audience is going to be there.
Yeah.
You know, it's going to be burnout.
You know, you're going to see burnouts.
You saw Black Sabbath back in the day and they're still seeing them, but now they're grandparents.
So they're bringing their kids.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And in some cases, they're kids.
So you have, yeah, like a 40 year generation gap of pretty much the same guy.
Denim, denim and denim, leather, cigarettes, weed, whiskey.
Don't wash, rinse or rinse, but repeat.
Right.
One of the things that was interesting is, first of all, when you're sober, fucking shit does suck.
Number two.
I'm sorry, but it does.
Number two was these young white Caucasian people, Mr. X.
M e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e Here's what I want to ask or bring up and tie in.
I remember you telling me when you saw Sleep at the Fuck Yeah Fest.
What, 2009?
Yeah, 2009, 2010.
I distinctly remember you telling me Sleep is doing the fucking thing.
Their thing.
All these pretty white girls are just doing the fucking hippie dance.
Meanwhile, fucking Alice's Narrows is like fucking Molly Mountain.
It was so clash of generations.
I was even, before they even went on, I'm like, okay, I think I'm at the wrong event.
I think this band Sleep is like a new band that's using this band's fucking title.
How old were you when you got into Black Sabbath?
Actually, I was eight years old, 77, 78.
Think about that.
How long they've been around that kids your age can now still get into their new shit.
That's actually a valid point.
It is, but you know what was, it was a trip.
I think it has to do with the age thing too.
I'm standing there with Salvador and Mike who's all fucked up with his other friends who will be nameless.
They're all wasted.
I'm sober as fuck.
Prozac ain't kicking in yet.
I'm just standing and these fucking five or six hipster Caucasians, they walk in, right?
They're in the front row.
And they're standing on the, they're standing on the bench, right?
And like blocking my view.
And I'm just like, ugh.
Just fucking Serenity.
No, no.
But what was interesting was Salvador and Mike fucking was like, he was fighting in the Contras or something, dude.
Like he went off.
He had a fucking mental breakdown.
He flipped out?
He flipped out.
He was like, fuck you, man.
He's putting the fiddle finger right in their face.
Fuck you, man.
Fucking hipsters.
Fuck you, you posers.
And they're all like, wow, what the fuck are we doing, right?
Okay.
Now, at the same time, this is now surreal.
This is like, this is like out of the Twilight Zone.
What's going on here?
Dude, I was standing there going, whoa, man.
Is this how I am?
Fuck.
He's going off, dude.
Off, right?
And there's like these other two dudes that are like trying to, it's actually their, their ticket seats, right?
But you know, I guess they're just being cool.
They don't want to be confrontational.
Yeah, yeah.
Fuck it.
Mike's going off on that too.
What the fuck?
What about you?
Say something, you motherfuckers.
Fuck you, hamsters.
Okay.
Now, keep in mind, I'm there going, wow.
This is the same guy who can't complete a sentence here in normal fucking context.
I got to tell you, dude, I was very, very impressed.
Now, what you ended up telling me later was, is that obviously they annoyed you too, right, Mike?
Yeah.
But the reason why you went off is because you were, I guess what, you were trying to prevent me from going off?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So what happened to Neil Young?
Oh, God.
Yeah, you know, that's what I was thinking about.
See, again, Mike, you know, despite his lack of verbosity, he's kind of, you know, telepathically doing certain things.
Don't give me too much credit, Johnny.
Well, no, I'm just saying, like, you know.
Telepathic, you got to have a bite for that.
It was a trip, man.
But yeah, I didn't enjoy Black Sabbath, man.
To me, it was one of those things like, you know, it's kind of.
You know, I talked about it that weekend and of course, Mike did not help me.
In the conversation.
So, I mean, again, my whole thing, it's like, okay, dude, you guys have your legacy.
You're in the fucking Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Let it go.
Dude, let it die gracefully.
No one's going to trip, man.
No one's going to be like, fuck you guys.
Dude, let it die gracefully.
Fucking you guys are multi-zillionaires.
Live the life, dude.
How much money do you really need?
I mean, you're charging, at a minimum, 120 bucks.
Come on, dude.
Let it go, dude.
No, no.
I mean, it's one thing for, Black Sabbath to do it and, you know, Slayer is starting to worm their way up there.
And again, to tie into the other thing, where, you know, when Manowar does it, now, that's insulting to me as a fan, as a supporter of, you know, that band or that music scene because it's like, what the fuck, dude?
You're fleecing me now.
You're blatantly fleecing me.
You're blatantly fucking me in the ass and bragging about it.
Yeah, no shame about it.
It's a trip, man.
That's why I'm like, uh, same thing with Metallica.
They come around like, oh, go to Metallica?
Dude, I'm not going to spend 200 bucks for a band that I should have saw 20 years earlier, 25 years earlier.
It's been a trip, man.
Like, I haven't really been focusing too much on current events or nothing, but this caught my attention.
Here in Los Angeles, LAPD officers are fucking dropping like flies, but not, like, in the normal line of duty.
You know, when you think of Los Angeles LAPD officers dying in the line of duty, you think, obviously, you know, they're in the shit.
They're in the shit.
They're getting shot or what have you.
No, they're having traffic accidents.
Yeah, I've read about, what, two or three of them that just got killed recently.
One just, I think, what is it, like four or five now?
It's almost like an epidemic.
And here in Los Angeles, they're spending taxpayer money, I believe, building these memorials, you know, collaborate, you know, like to celebrate or, you know, memorialize these LAPD officers dying in the line of duty.
I have a problem with that.
I have a problem with it, too, because, you know what?
Fuck all that.
Yeah, that's the job they signed up for.
Yeah, I don't see firefighters getting fucking memorials and they're out there actually saving lives.
These motherfuckers are dropping like flies because they drive like maniacs.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So fuck all that, man.
And you know what?
I have a feeling I'm going to get pissed off.
Yeah, you and me, me both.
Another thing that was bothering me is this whole thing in Nigeria with the kidnapping of, what is it, 300?
300 girls.
Terrible.
What's going on with your cousins over there, man?
My cousins?
My cousins, dude.
My cousins live in Whittier.
Now, I understand that in the media they stated that they have American and British advisors over there and hostage negotiators and, you know, what have you.
But you know, you know behind the lines.
You know what's going on.
Yeah, you're dealing with, you're dealing with fucking gnarly terrorists.
Yeah, so I mean, listen, I, I, that was very disturbing.
These are young ladies that are just trying to get an education and better themselves and, oh my God.
Yeah.
It's just too much.
Just, let's just all fucking take a fucking pill, man, and chill the fuck out.
Yeah.
Take a, take a bong hit.
Take three, please.
Yeah, if I could do it.
I do.
If I could do it, you could do it.
That, that's, I mean, I don't, I don't want to, I don't want to go off either.
Yeah.
So, you know, just say smoke weed and do a lot of it.
Smoke some weed and just smell the fuck out.
If I could make a suggestion of what kind of weed to smoke, it would be Yoda's brain.
Whoa.
Whoa.
I'm looking forward to that.
All right.
The Icon of Phobos is a band that we discovered a couple of years ago.
I can't believe it's that long.
Yeah, I know, man.
It's a trip.
Are they even here yet?
No?
No.
All right.
One of the things that was very interesting was when you are involved in the underground music scene, especially here in Los Angeles, Los Johnny, for some reason, every motherfucker thinks that they're the best thing.
Of course.
You know, they're, I mean, I understand, you know, you're.
That's what you have to do.
You have to put that out there.
You're an artist.
You're an artist, but in reality, you and I know that people are just really not talented or creative and they're repetitive and they're just ripping off everybody else.
It's very rare to come across a group or a music, let me rephrase that.
Strike that.
It's very rare to come across an artist and a musician that really incorporate their influences but take it to a whole other level where they create their own unique form of sound and the Icon of Phobos.
They do that.
They do that very well.
I've been a fan of theirs since day one, which is funny as I mentioned before when they gave me their CD.
I was like, oh boy, there's another fucking shitty band and surprisingly, it was really good.
So we're going to start off this set with the first song that I heard from a couple of years ago.
Mr. X, don't go to Black Sabbath and hit it.
M e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e Reddish look that it is sure The universe of the dark The igniting key for the love The detrimental e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e Our bodies are a prison for ourselves.

Thank you.
You had a cool personality.
You know, you're cool.
Okay, then I believe a couple weeks after that, we ran into each other at a Lightning Swords of Death show, and you gave me your CD.
And I remember very vividly telling you, oh, cool, I'm going to do some powder on this and then chuck it, which I wasn't kidding.
I was like, you know what?
This is going to be another disappointment, you know, another band that thinks they're doing something creative and really breaking new ground and territory and taking their influences and making it their own.
I'm like, this ain't happening.
But I really liked the name of the band.
Right off the bat, I was like, wow, this is really interesting.
This is unique.
So I gave it a try, and I listened to it.
And I believe it was the rough mix of your first record.
Yeah.
And it was really, really good.
And it was really, really impressive.
And it was really, really dark and creative and macabre.
And what I really enjoyed about it was the fact that you had all these different musical influences, because we've talked in our own private conversations, which are beyond, you know, the extreme metal or what have you.
And you were able to mold all this into this very unique, dark, creative sound that for Los Angeles really stands apart, man.
Because in Los Angeles, everybody's still doing the Norwegian, black metal fucking thing, the Swedish thing.
I mean, in some cases, they're still doing, you know, the Venom Bathory thing.
And then, to top it off, there's someone still doing the Slayer thing.
It just gets fucking repetitive.
It gets old.
It gets fucking boring.
And for someone my age, 30 years in the underground, I can't tolerate.
Los Johnny, you've been around a long time.
Yeah.
I mean, that's what really gives the iconophobes precedent.
The precedent is that they've taken some very familiar sonics and whatnot, and they made them interesting.
They keep me interested, where if you're going to be doing that same da-na-na-na-na, da-na-na-na-na, da-na-na-na-na-na fucking riff, I'm going to fucking shoot you, and I'm going to piss on you.
Like, dude, it's just incredibly, it's a time waster anyway.
It was actually a pretty good riff you just hummed there.
Thank you.
But no, iconophobes really do make the heavy thing, thing that we all know and love, unique.
I mean, Alvin and I have some musical tastes that we share that are very not metal.
And I know that he incorporates that into iconophobes, which keeps, that's again, what he and I like, and when he incorporates, that's what hooks me in.
That's what keeps me wanting to hear more and see where he goes with that.
Well, as you know, Los Johnny, we've had a tradition here.
For the last four years that we're not against local bands, because for some reason we have this reputation that we're assholes and we don't support the local scene.
No, we do support local, but we would love to fucking embrace all local bands, but they have to be good and creative.
You know, for me, I am very choosy with what I consider good, you know, and that's why when I stumbled upon your band and then the fact that actually, I actually really enjoy.
You guys on a personal level, you guys are great guys, but artistically, I really embraced your band and we've been promoting and playing your band for a long time.
So it's great to see that the iconophobes have finally gotten a really good reputation in the underground, not only locally, but overall.
So my first question to you is real quick.
Let's talk about the sound.
Your guitar tones are very interesting because they're very dark oriented, but they don't have that.
Like we mentioned.
Before the stereotypical Bach metal fucking, you know, what influences you musically when you're writing your music?
You know what?
It comes in waves, man.
There's days where I don't play.
There's months that I don't play, but if I feel like playing, I'll play.
And then it just comes out.
I mean, nothing really drives me.
It just happens.
So it's all organic.
It's all natural.
I don't ever force it.
You know, I don't like forcing it because I'm going to end up scrapping it anyways, if it's forced.
Well, I'm not going to force it.
Would you agree with me that in Los Angeles, there tends to be kind of that cookie cutter, repetitive, monotone, fucking boring type of philosophy when it comes to certain bands?
Yeah, definitely, dude.
I mean, I don't want to put you on the spot, but would you agree with that?
Yeah, of course.
Let's not mention any names.
Yeah, I don't want to go into detail.
Let's walk around Vernon Studios.
I still hear things about people saying, oh, that dude has a bad voice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
it's a poser, fuck him.
Like, he thinks he's better than ever.
Like, I hear that shit all the time.
Like, oh, his band isn't satanic enough.
That's one I heard, like, three weeks ago, that we're not satanic enough.
And I'm like, wow.
Do what you have to do, man.
Like, I mean.
Well, let me ask you this.
How would you define iconophobos?
Because I've been asked that before with other underground journalists.
Like, well, how would you describe them?
Or how would you define it?
I use the word macabre.
I don't use the stereotypical, you know, black metal, death metal.
But how would you describe your sound?
I don't know.
What I always aimed for was just like, to me, it's just a soothing tone, but very chaotic at the same time.
That's what I always.
That's very well put.
That's what I wanted to hear musically.
That's why I started making music, because that's what I wanted to hear.
Like, to me, every song, I mean, we could play them as instrumentals, you know?
But that's just me.
Do you find it interesting that here in Los Angeles, there are still people that don't understand your band?
Yeah.
I get that critique a lot.
Like, they don't get it.
They don't understand what it is.
Yeah, they don't.
I mean, it's, I mean, the first album's been out for a while, but, I mean, the beginning of the year, I've gotten a lot of feedback off of it, and then people are barely starting to understand what it's about.
I mean, I guess, I mean, if you either get it or you don't.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
Do you think that by you not being somewhat pigeonholed and categorized in a way, it gives you more of an artistic freedom to keep going?
Because I've noticed that your music has evolved.
Being that not only I am a fan, I also keep in touch with you from a friend point of view, but I've noticed your music has been evolving, where in some cases, there's a lot of artists that when they're evolving, they lose the foundation of what they originally started.
But with you guys, it seems that it's just like a natural progression and a natural growth where the key ingredients are still there.
Yeah, it comes down to not forcing anything, just letting it happen.
Like, if I'm inspired, it'll come through and that's it, you know?
Is that why I like the sporadic shows and recordings and stuff like that?
I mean, because I've noticed also, like, you guys don't really tour much.
You guys don't really, I mean, you play relatively somewhat in Los Angeles, but as far as like, you know, touring or what have you, is that why or what's the purpose with that?
Touring is just a whole different story.
I mean, it's like contacts and all that.
Yeah, I mean, it's just a whole different story.
But as far as out here, I mean, we've played a couple of shows.
We're probably only going to do these last two shows and just do like some studio shit from now on until we figure things out.
Really?
Yeah.
Let's talk about you guys going to New York because this is really interesting right now.
Yeah.
All right.
So this is the first time you guys are going to be in New York, right?
New York?
It's the first, yeah.
Yeah.
This is, okay, I'm going to mispronounce this.
You might want to help me.
This is the Marty Doom Festival?
Yeah.
Okay.
And just look at this lineup, Lost Johnny.
Mournful Congregation, Cult of Fire, Be Hexen.
I mean, there's just so many great bands here.
This is interesting.
Zeit Unzit, which is a local great band here.
Knout Rote.
It's my band.
Lycus.
Yeah, you also play, we'll talk about that.
But the Icon of Fobos.
This is going on at St. Vitus' Bar in Brooklyn, New York.
This is a great fucking truly underground festival right here.
June 27th through July 1st, Icon of Fobos in New York City.
How do you feel about that?
It should be fun, dude.
Are you looking forward to getting out to the East Coast?
Yeah.
Are you amazed that in the underground you're breaking off like the local, you know, underground scene and now you're being recognized?
Yeah.
I mean, it was, it actually, that happened through a, a commandant's drummer and Neil from Krieg that actually, you know, Vinnie contacted us because they put in a good word through him.
So that's what organized that.
And I guess they enjoyed what they heard.
Oh, that's cool, man.
That's good.
That's good that you're going to be getting out to the East Coast.
Do you think that the East Coast will understand what you guys are doing?
Because let's, let's elaborate a little bit.
When you go see an Icon of Fobos show, it's not just a standard, you know, band performance.
Lost Johnny, feel free to tip in.
Absolutely.
You don't, you don't just clock into an Icon of Fobos show.
I mean, it's, it's a fucking vibe.
I mean, it goes as far as theatrical.
I mean, I've mentioned this before that your lead vocalist, he does somewhat like a, like a, like what, like a showcase show?
I wouldn't say.
It's more, it really is a performance piece.
It's a performance.
It's, it really is performance art.
And again, it's perfect in that it doesn't go past it, past being theatrical and being cheesy.
It's not an act.
It's not a, a, a gimmick.
It's fucking for real.
You know what I mean?
So that's why, I mean, it adds to the music vibe of it all with, yeah, the singer with his, with his getup on and you're just like, whoa, this is, this is not some random band.
You're going to just kind of, you know, be watching in the peripheral.
Like you have to invest.
Now is that all orchestrated or is that also organic?
The performance that your vocalist does and then the music that you, because it seems very well choreographed, but I don't think, I don't see you as like sitting there and choreographing.
No, no, we don't, we don't really, we don't even, we don't even practice, dude.
You guys really do.
You guys really do live on the web.
Seriously, dude.
It's like something comes up and we're like, Hey, I got something new.
We get together, knock it out.
All right.
Next time.
Oh, and we still hang out.
I mean, we still, we get fucking wasted, but right.
It's not all about the music.
Who writes the music in the band?
That first album, it was all me.
This new stuff since I've recruited Steve, we've been collaborating and it's actually really cool.
Cause I've never worked with anyone like that before.
I've never worked with anyone else that knows what I'm doing.
So yeah, it's bright right now.
It's both of us.
Was it hard for you to collaborate with someone?
Because usually I, I, I tend to be like a control freak myself, man.
And, and, and I mean, I know it's part of like a mental illness, like, but I mean, for you to open up and let someone else come in, do you find yourself being uncomfortable and, or talk to me about that?
It's, uh, I mean, I've played with a couple people before, but it's like, not everyone can play something the way it's supposed to be played, you know?
And, uh, he's the only guitar player that I've jammed with that knows like the aesthetic and knows how to just do what, do what, do what he's supposed to do.
You know what I mean?
And, uh, yeah, his style, similar to mine.
So it worked out.
All right, man.
Well, let's, let's mention this again for the East coast, for our East coast listeners.
This is a great fucking show coming up at the St. Vitus bar, Brooklyn, New York.
As we mentioned, this will be the first performance of Iconophobos in the East coast.
And they're going to be playing the, oh boy, did I pronounce that right?
Martidum?
I hope so.
Yeah.
It's pronounced martyrdom.
Martyrdom.
Martyrdom three.
Fucking A, man.
Fucking L-A unified.
All right.
So, they employed me, dude.
And Gonorrhea Tony.
Let me mention this real quick.
I know.
The fucking Gonorrhea Tony works for Valley Unified.
That's frightening.
Now, Zeit Unzit.
This is another band that you're a part of.
Talk to me a little bit about this.
Cause this is really interesting.
I was, I'm a big fan of this band as well, but I've noticed that since you joined the band, the sound decibel has changed.
Yeah.
In a whole different way.
And I don't want to, you know, put anybody down, but it seems that, uh, the organism in that beast is also evolved somewhat.
Yeah.
How do you differentiate the two projects?
Uh, how do you, I'm assuming you're writing for both.
Yeah.
Uh, I actually, to me, like Icon's a little more experimental.
Like just, just do whatever the fuck we want.
Like, like we just use the Ebo for the first time.
Like it was, like, wow.
Just doing as much as we could just, just to, just to fuck around, you know?
And, uh, Zeit Unzit, to me, I wanted to make it a little more straightforward, something, a little more traditional, straightforward.
And that's the only way I could put it.
Do you enjoy writing for that project as well?
Yeah.
It comes, like I said, it comes in waves, dude.
Like maybe go like four or five months.
We don't have any new material.
Cause it's just like, I don't want to force it, dude.
Right.
So you just, you're just, you have like a very laid back writing procedure.
It's a creative, creative process.
All right.
How do you feel about being in the bulldozer?
Lost Angeles compilation?
Yeah.
It's just, um, another form, just another fucking medium to get out there, dude.
Yeah, man, this is really great.
You're here with a lot of great bands here, but let's mention this track here.
So this is a track called Ashen Crowns.
All right, Mr. X, why don't we play this?
Make sure you pick this up.
The first 300 magazines get this compilation for free.
Los Angeles bulldozer magazine.
Pick it up.
Here we go.
Hit it.
Hit it.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Thank you.

I mean, like I said, I saw them by accident, and I was just leaving a friend's house, walked into a bar, and they just happened to be playing.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, I think it was their first time in L.A., and I was blown away, dude.
I was calling everyone, like, hey, you need to come check this out, like, right now, dude.
Yeah, this band's great.
Their last release is Ritual of Passing.
They also have a split out with Alaric.
Did I pronounce that right, Johnny?
Alaric.
Another band that I'm quite fond of.
I also like to make reference to the split that Atriarch did with Alaric, which got repeated spins in my ears.
Huge fan.
Yeah, so make sure you check out Atriarch.
And as we mentioned before, we're giving away a pair of tickets, so you could go see this great show for free.
This is going on May 16th at The Complex.
Let's mention some other dates here.
So May 30th, Icon of Fobos is playing in Sacramento.
Is this the first time you've been up there?
Yeah.
Hopefully it'll be the first time you leave.
I never go back.
That place sucks.
Oh, shit.
I've driven by there before and it didn't seem too exciting.
Yeah, dude.
It's nothing to write home about.
I'm sure they're going to be very pleased.
All right, so you're playing May 30th in Sacramento with Killgasm.
Thank you for your honesty, Johnny.
Hey.
Rotten Futural and Blood Fog.
Then, of course, we mentioned this.
June 30th, you're going to be playing East Coast, the Martyrdom Festival.
Martyrdom.
Martyrdom Festival with Cult of Fire.
Why don't you tell us?
Before I butcher all these names here.
Are you asking me to tell you?
Sargeist.
Did I pronounce that right?
Yeah.
All right.
Then, July 11th, Chris Hayward is bringing Sargeist here with Nightbringer, and you're playing also in Icon of Fobos.
That's going on at the Black Castle.

Let me tell you another thing that bothers me about some of these yellow eunufis.
Some of them can't even speak English properly, man.
They can't.
I know this one dude.
dude, when he, I'm like, how the fuck, your fucking students must, like, pass because, dude, like, they can't understand what you're saying.
It's crazy.
Here's another thing.
I've been dealing with the medical field, right?
Right.
Alvin, I'm sure you probably banged some of these bitches in your day.
Have you noticed that all these whores that go into the medical field as medical assistants with, what do they call those schools, those fucking?
Medical schools?
Yeah.
I think vocational schools.
Oh, my God.
Dude, every time I go to a certain clinic, like, this bitch is, like, this bitch looks like she got fucking trained last time.
There she is trying to fucking take all blood out of my arm.
I'm like, oh, my God.
How is this possible?
All right.
X-Math addict.
Our fucking nostrils are all crusty with shit.
All right.
Oh, boy.
May 15th, Church of the Eighth Day, and I believe the Static Age.
Yeah, Church of the Eighth Day and Static Age, they're bringing you Castle.
This is a great fucking place.
Great show.
Castle, Destroy Judas, a fantastic band.
We've been pushing that band for a long time here as well.
I think that's the one thing that I'm going to miss, Lost Johnny, is the fact that of, you know, I would say we have really good musical taste and we would turn on our audience to some of these great bands.
I agree.
I cannot tell you.
Not Metallica.
Yeah, exactly.
I can't tell you the amount of good music that, and I have to thank you personally, that have been turned on to me that have really taken my, my taste in music to broader, deeper directions.
So that's, that is actually something I'm going to miss about this show too.
Yeah.
So again, May 15th, this is a great show brought to you by Church of the Eighth Day, the Static Age, Castle, Destroy Judas, Jeter, a fantastic fucking band, Bad Blood.
This is also going out at the complex.
We're giving away a pair of tickets for this.
You want to go see this show for free?
These are the last free shit Sunday takeaway, ticket giveaways.
So why don't you send me a message telling me, I want to go to Castle and you're going to go to Castle.
Let's not all, let's also not forget the Icon of Phobos.
Our guest Alvin here.
We got some great shows that are coming up.
You have some amazing chances to see this fucking fantastic band.
If you haven't seen them, what are you waiting for?
Get on the train now.
May 16th.
This is at the complex.
Atriarch, Icon of Phobos, Dr. Shopper and Crowhurst is also going on at the complex.
I love the complex, man.
That place is just fucking really comfortable.
Really great.
Guys.
Good vibes.
Sounds good.
Yeah.
Let's also mention July 11th.
You're going to be playing the Icon of Phobos with Nightbringer and how do you pronounce this properly?
Is it Sargeist?
Is that how you say it?
Yeah, I assume.
All right.
Sargeist.
This is brought to you by Chris Haywar.
So let's also go to that show.
That's at the Black Castle.
It's probably going to be our last show.
Just you guys know, just in this area.
Yeah.
You know what?
After you play, what are you going to do?
Are you just going to focus on writing?
Yeah, we're just going to do that.
Are you looking forward to that?
Yeah.
I mean, like, it just, it comes and it goes, you know?
When it comes, like, how would you describe the writing process?
Like, do you sit down there and write?
Do you sit with the other guy and collaborate?
Or do you just, you know, because it seems like you have a very, very relaxed, very organic type of approach to writing music.
It usually just happens on your own.
And like, I have an idea and I just build off of that.
And whenever I know I'm done, you just show it to everyone else and they put in their part.
Oh, right on.
That's how it works.
Now, let me ask you the same question I asked Lenny from Matriarch.
How do you deal with the studio sterile environment?
Do you, does it benefit you?
And does it work for you?
Because, again, the live ritual of Icon of Bobos is way different from the recording.
Yeah.
Way different.
Two different beats.
I don't want to say that one lacks the other.
No, they both complement each other well, but way too different.
When I've seen you play live, it's a different beast, man.
Which, obviously, because you're on stage.
But when you're recording, do you find it pleasurable?
Is it difficult?
Is it stressful?
It's a pain, dude.
I hate recording.
Why do you hate recording?
I just don't enjoy the process, dude.
I'm an alcoholic, you know what I mean?
Thank you for being honest.
That explains it all.
I'd rather get drunk than sit there and let a computer tell me what to do, you know what I mean?
Are you serious when you're saying that you're an alcoholic?
Yeah, you can say yeah.
Does your substance abuse affect your writing or your commitments with your band?
No.
I mean...
So you're a function, you know.
It's a part of the package, you know what I mean?
You gotta take one with the other.
Yeah, exactly, dude.
Is that why your music is somewhat macabre and dark?
Because it's dealing with your alcoholism and your struggle with that?
Well, it's not really a struggle.
I just fucking drink it.
You enjoy being an alcoholic?
Well, you're making it seem like it's fucking intense now.
It is the last show.
We're getting really heavy really fast.
I enjoy the meth and the alcohol.
No, I mean, I just...
I mean, I can drink whatever the fuck I want.
Let me tell you something, man.
I not only relate...
I don't relate to what you're saying.
I loved being destructive.
I loved indulging in all that shit.
You're still relatively a young dude.
You don't have to give your age if you don't want, but...
17.
Yeah, you're at that age where you can fucking ride that...
You can ride that fucking motor fucking on red, and it's great.
It's when you get to be my age when you're pissing and shitting blood, and you're fucking...
That's when you're ODing on value.
That's when you're like, fuck, this sucks, man.
So ride that wave, dude.
Ride that wave.
Chlamydia.
It's fucking awesome.
I can't say that I've pissed blood yet, but I can't wait.
Don't knock the boy's ambition.
All right.
As we mentioned...
Where's that Bulldozer magazine?
Bulldozer magazine is out, okay?
You want to know what Jimmy Cavs does on his free time?
He does nothing.
He fucking...
He's trying to suck on a shotgun, and he writes for this magazine right here.
Fucking Bulldozer magazine's out.
As we mentioned before, this is a real deal in the underground publication.
Just look at some of these artists.
Nausea.
Machetazo.
Enslaved.
Midnight.
Infinitum Obscure.
Krieg.
Dark as Death.
Get this magazine.
Go to the Bulldozer site.
Order it.
I mean, you take that into the bathroom, and you read when you're doing your thing.
I mean, that's going to keep you occupied.
Oh, it's a great mag, man.
First 300 copies, you get this great compilation right here, as we mentioned.
Iconophobos is on here.
This is a great compilation of true underground bands.
We're going to play a couple bands off this right now.
Mr. X.
Hit it.!
Let's go.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Let's go.

Lost Johnny, what did we hear?
We heard a new song from Winter Thrall.
Yes.
Huge fan.
Like what I hear.
Want to hear more.
Before that, we heard Letium Essensis.
Whoa.
Molesting Mary.
Is that another Mother's Day deal?
Holy shit.
Another new song from them.
Yes, Counselor?
That is all on the Bulldozer Magazine compilation.
All new songs.
Booyah, kasha.
That's why it's good.
And before that, we heard Ritual Combat.
Black Mass Upon the Altar of War.
Holy shit.
I didn't know that guy.
Sean, he's been on this show, so good for him to be putting out some new stuff.
Yeah.
And we started the set with Dark As Death.
The song, Bless the...
Which, all on the Bulldozer compilation.
That's really available for the new Bulldozer Magazine.
That's right.
Make sure you pick up the new Bulldozer Magazine.
The first 300 copies get that compilation for free.
Let me mention this real quick.
The LG Ensemble, Friday, May 16th.
Atriarch is coming to town with the icon of Phobos.
Also, Dr. Shopper and Crowhurst.
This is going on at the Complex.
And this is a really good show going on Sunday, May 18th.
Backyard Mortuary.
Why don't you tell us real quick?
Who that features, Alvin?
Features members of Morphal Congregation coming out from Sydney, Australia.
And why should people attend this show?
Because they're a fucking great band.
But it's also their very last show.
That's right.
Very last show ever.
So, if you want to see a great band which features members of Morphal Congregation coming all the way from Sydney, Australia, Backyard Mortuary.
Of course, this is also going on with Shadow of the Torturer and local bands Horrid and Desolator.
This is at the Five Star, May 18th.
This is the last show of Backyard Mortuary, which, by the way, also features...
By the way, coincidentally, is also the last show of the very manic Jimmy Cab show.
I want to thank all of you for being here.
Alvin?
Yeah.
Thank you.
Thank you for being here.
I'm glad that you guys are doing well.
I think you guys are an amazing band.
I wish you the best.
Finally, to you, the audience.
I want to thank you for four years of being truly supportive and truly...
Truly...
Wonderful fucking audience.
It was my pleasure to turn you on to some really great music.
What can I say?
Everything true and real must come to an end.
We are ending our...
I guess our...
I mean, this is it, man.
This is it.
I want to say this is a career, but we've been doing this hobby thing for, like you said, four years.
And we've had an amazing time, had some retarded amount of laughter.
And, yeah, we've played some fucking heavy music.
And we turn people on.
And I've been turned on.
Yeah.
And that's the way it should be.
I mean, it really comes down to supporting your scene.
We support it here in Los Angeles.
We've been doing it for, I mean, a combination of over 50 years.
And, you know, it's not going to stop.
Yeah.
We're still going to see you, me, Mike, Alvin at the shows.
So, fuck, man.
It's basically...
It'd be nice to end the show without your phone.
Phone ringing.
Yeah, I know.
I'm sorry.
Wow.
What a way to end the fucking show.
All right.
It ended on a bing.
Yeah.
Fucking lost Johnny.
You've always been the top professional.
Yes.
All right.
We want to thank you all for listening.
It has been a great four years.
And we're going to end it with a tune that really reflects the philosophy of the show.
We've done our show our way.
So, let's end it.
Mr. X, thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you for all your help, you and Jenny.
And we wish you the best.
Thank you.
See ya.
See ya.
See ya.

of which I'm certain I've lived a life this full.
I've traveled each and every byway, oh, and more, much more than this I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do, and so it drew without exception.
I planned each charted course, each careful step, along the byway, oh, and more, much more than this I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew, when I bet all, more than I could chew.
But through it all, there was doubt, I, there's been an hour.
I faced it all, and I stood tall, and did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried, I've had my fill, my share of losing, and now, as tears subside, I find it all, so amusing, to think, I did all that, and may I say, not in a shy way, oh no, oh no, not me, I did it my, my way.
Oh, what is a man, what has he got, if not himself, and he is not?
He said the words, he grew to feel, and he got the words, yeah, for a meal.
The record shows, I took the blows, and did it my way.
And did it my way.
The record shows, I took the blows, and did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
And did it my way.
