It's time for some real music. It's showtime! We have seen imitators! We've also seen duplicators! But now, it's time for the originators! Los Angeles! And the rest of the world. Ooh, this is really groovy. Turn this up, Chester. You are listening to the very manic Jimmy Cab Show. I am your host, Jimmy Cabs. Many have tried to replicate. Many have tried to duplicate. Many, many just blatantly rip off, don't honor or respect the true originators. What do you think? Do you think that's enough? I think you made your point. You know what? Especially as a riff comes in. Yeah! You're listening to the very manic Jimmy Cab Show with Lost Johnny. Thank you for being here, Lost Johnny. It's good to be here on this lovely Taco Tuesday. You know, I gotta tell you. There are so many... First of all, let's backtrack. Like about six years ago, you and I started this little venture. We were at another station that no need to mention. No need to bring up the past. No need to mention or even give them any form of attention. By the way, I saw that one last DJ the other day. Oh, boy. Last week at Exciter. That one last one. The one who just won't let it go. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Anyways. We started this six years ago. Has it been that long? God damn, man. Time has flown. Yeah, it has. Chester, you want to lower that? I know you're rocking out there. ACDC's always great, by the way. But yeah, we started this six years ago. And if I remember correctly, nobody was doing this. With the exception of, of course, Crazy Craig. Crazy Craig. Gotta give Crazy Craig props. Crazy Craig's been doing this fucking forever. Yeah. Okay, we gotta give him some fucking props. He doesn't get no respect either, but he's getting laid. He's got a beautiful wife now. Uh, before that, Adam Baum, Final Countdown. Yep. Gotta give him respect. KXLU. But, uh, after that, I mean, before that, before when we started, no one was doing this. Now everybody and their mother's doing it. And righteously so. You know what? Not as good, by the way. I've heard a few. I've heard a few. More power to you. I think it's great. It's a revolution. I think it's a new explosion of, you know, broadcasting. But do it right. Yeah. Put some effort into it. Yeah. Put some effort into it. You know, I put a lot of energy into this show. By the way, I appreciate when you're here and you don't even know where the fuck we're doing. But I put a lot of energy, a lot of creative energy in this show. And, uh. Well, you know, just to bring up. No one gives a fuck. No, just to bring up old shit. You know, all the energy and stuff that you put into this show means you're not at the shows. Which means Guatemala and Frank won't, has that much more to complain about you about. A lot of the energy that I invest. In the show keeps me from actually getting a real job. And so, uh. Please. By all means. At least acknowledge. Yeah. At least pay some, uh. Throw a tip in the jar. All right. May 3rd, 2016. Yesterday was very interesting. It was, I believe, the four-year anniversary of Neptune Spear. Is that a racial joke? No. Just kidding. No. Navy SEAL Team 6's assassination of Osama Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden, yeah. Uh, what do we- Osama. Yeah, you know, it's nice to know that, uh, you can assassinate someone and, without due process, by the way. And, uh, nothing changes. No. Nothing changes. No. You figured after that, the world would be quaking and shaking. No. Nothing changes. Also, May 2nd. Ugh. This breaks my heart. Three-year anniversary of Jeff Hanneman. Ugh. The death of Jeff Hanneman. The death of Slayer. The death of Slayer. Well, I don't want to say that, but, uh. I said it. It was a little. Uh, let's just say that the things have changed. Chester, how you doing over there? Hey, what's up? With my incendiary comments. Hey, there you are. Hey, what's up? How's it going? Uh, you know, you're a Slayer fan. Yeah. It was the anniversary of Jeff Hanneman's death. But I, I gotta be honest. I haven't really listened to anything, uh, past seasons in the abyss, so. Oh, really? Yeah, pretty much. Okay. You are not alone. I believe we have some Jeff Hanneman images there. Do, uh, you want to put some Jeff Hanneman images? Yeah, let me try to find them. They're labeled Jeff Hanneman, by the way. Yeah, it's really sad when you have these type of anniversaries. And, uh, to acknowledge someone so. You know, I was thinking about that whole dynamic between Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. And, uh, that energy that I got to witness. There we go. Look at that. Look at that. That's a killer image right there. That'll never be duplicated. Nope. That'll never be replicated. Nope. Not, not bashing in any way, shape, or form, uh, uh, Gary Holt. But, uh, you know, look at that. You'll never experience that. I mean, that, that chemistry. That chemistry really is so unique. And so, I mean, it's been formulated to death. But at the time, I mean, you saw it from the beginning, Counselor. From the beginning. Um, that, that type of. Look at that. Chemistry. Jesus. Never again. Mixed with their obvious technical prowess. Uh, it's, it, you just can't. You fake, you cannot fake that kind of funk. Right? I mean, it's, I'm finding it very difficult, uh, in this aging process. But since this year has been the year of death. And all these, uh. Oh, man. All these artists that are passing away. It's, it's just really, it just really makes you reflect that once they're gone, they're gone, man. No one's picking up that flag. Nope. I mean, it, I mean, it, again, it just really illustrates the one power of music. And how it is a lasting effect on not only just the arts, but as you and me. I mean, we are total fanboys. I mean, we've crossed a point in our lives where like, okay, this is start, this is going to happen with. Uh. Frequency from now on. Right. And I would say in the next 10 to 50, I would say 10 years. They're all going to be gone. If by the lucky few, I'm saying like all those old classic rock guys. All gone. All gone. You know, I don't mind. They will be gone within the next 10 years. I promise that. I wouldn't mind some of them to go now. Who would you like to see go? Uh, I mean, we spoken about this earlier, but, oh man. I'd like to see the Moody Blues all drop dead. Eh, eh, eh. That'd be, that'd be pretty good. Yeah, right. Um. Jimmy Page. I'd like to see him go. Squeeze out a, I, I, okay. I read an article one time where. I guess, I could hear a guess over there. I know, Jesus. What? Um. He, Jimmy Page has averaged one gig a decade. Come on, man. I'm not even a fan. You know, uh, maybe he can play that old cello fish. You heard about that? Yeah. Yeah. So maybe he can throw down on it and play the hits. But. Let me tell you why I would like to see some of these. Yeah. Artists that were so pivotal, so innovative go. Because, uh, you know, it, it, it really is disturbing to see. Just, I'm sure we're gonna get there too. And on a different level. Yeah. I'm sure, you know, when I'm 60 or 70, someone's gonna go, fuck, this guy's still going to shows? What the fuck's wrong with this guy? We're gonna be the grandpa of the show. But the, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame broadcast was this weekend. Yes, it was. I, uh, I saw that. Did you see that as well? I did. Were you horrified? Were you disturbed? Horrified and disturbed. It might not be the right adjectives, but there was definitely a bad. Were you annoyed? There was definitely a bad taste when I finished watching. Right? There was definitely a bad taste. Now, I mean, I'm not gonna get on this rant like some other broadcasting, uh, East Coast, fucking loud mouth, narcissistic fucker. But it's, it's, it's true because when a couple of weeks ago, when, uh, Steve Miller went on that tirade and it hit the media. Right. Uh, I don't know if you've seen that footage. I did. You know what? Good for him for speaking up. Right on. Everyone was bashing him. Everyone was talking a bunch of shit. Uh, I found that whole event disturbing, especially like when they honored Deep Purple. Okay. You know, uh, they brought up pretty much everyone, but the two most important guys, granted one of them's dead. One of them's dead and one of them's a dick. Yeah. And he's, you know, but I, I, you know, they didn't even acknowledge, uh, uh, you know, Deep Purple had so many, so many versions. You know, Glenn. Five, six, seven. Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale. You don't think, I mean, I'm not a big David Coverdale fan, but I'm a big fan of that duo when they were, uh, Dude, burn this shit. It's a great record. Yeah. And they, they didn't even really acknowledge them. Yeah. They're standing up there like two fucking dickheads at a party where like everyone's getting all the chicks and all the coke and they're like the dudes that aren't getting anything. Have you experienced that before? Uh, next question. The point is, is even the NWA. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The NWA thing was disturbing. Yeah. It was, I mean, the thing about NWA and the same company as Cheap Trick, wrap your head around that in the same, they're in the same category as Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and Steve Miller. And then you got NWA. Again, I'm a huge NWA fan. Right. I have bumped straight out of confidence since it came out. Rock and roll hall of fame next to Deep Purple. Uh, uh, kind of strange. And it just. Again, it just illustrates how far up their asses the rock and roll hall of fame are. I mean the fact that Green Day waltzed in, whereas Deep Purple, all right, well we should let them in. Wow. You know what I mean? It's things like that where you're like, cool, you know, parliament should have got in first time around. Whereas Kiss had to beg and finally they're like, dude, shut the fuck up. Or we'll let you just, if you would shut up, we'll let you in. I mean, it just things like that. I mean, I can go off on a bunch of other bands that are quite worthy of being in the rock and roll hall of fame, but. It just really seemed very disturbing to me to see how excited and how thrilled Cheap Trick was to get finally in. That's another thing. And I'm like, barely? Yeah. They should have been in. They should have been there like 20 years ago. Exactly. And the fact that they were, again, they're just like, uh, well, okay. We, we're not going to be there. We're not going to be there. We're not going to be there. You guys are still touring. You guys are all still alive. Cool. I guess we'll let you in. Wow. Total bullshit, dude. Again, Deep Purple should have been let in 10 years ago. You know, the thing with Deep Purple too is like, really? You're going to play fucking hush and you're not gonna let fucking, you're not gonna let like David Coverdell and Glyn Hughes play some of that version. Come on. Man. Speaking of Deep Purple, we just listened to. Hey, what's going on there guys? Hey, how you doing guys? We just listened to Black Sabbath with Ian Gillen on vocals. Who remembers that record? Great record, highly underrated. And that record would be Born Again, and we played two songs, Zero the Hero. Is that a great record? Awesome song. And we played The Dark before that. Before that, we started with Dark as Death, Dead and Buried from the record Blessed Witch, and we started the set properly with War Master from their record The End of Humanity, Death Factory. Let me mention this. May 7th at the Five Star, War Master is coming to Los Angeles with the local destructors themselves, Dark as Death, friends of the show. That's going to be a great show. Make sure you check that out. That's May 7th, this Saturday at the Five Star. All right. We got a great show for you today. This is interesting. I can't wait to get you guys over here. We have really wonderful shoes. I was watching a documentary today, much like I always do, about Los Angeles music. And again, it just really distorts or doesn't really give a true... A true real descriptive of Los Angeles. Los Angeles, the music scene here is so vast. Over the last 30, 40 years, so vast. 50 years. 50 years. The thing that bothers me, though, is they focus heavily into the 80s heavy metal glam rock scene. They make it seem like that was the cherry on the cake. Yeah. When in reality, there was so many genres of music going on that were groundbreaking ahead of its time. Here in Los Angeles, you've heard me talk about it before. In the Northeast LA region of Los Angeles. I would say during, what do you think, like 85, 86 to the 90s? It was an incredible death metal scene that was going on. Oh, I remember that. Groundbreaking bands doing some amazing shit. And for one reason or another, they didn't go anywhere. What happened? Bob too much pot or what the deal, man? I mean, groundbreaking fucking bands that really should be at the high caliber of some of these... They should be as recognizable as your Napalm Deaths. Major touring acts now. As your Morbid Angel. They should be just as recognizable. Was it The Weed? Is that what it was? 91. Okay. We'll get you on the mic right now. We're going to be talking to Robert Cardenas of Coffin Texts. Amongst many other talented acts. Yeah, so many to mention. We're going to be, they're going to be playing, let's see here. May 6th, that's going to be at Echo en Mexico in El Cerrito. What's up, Hood? That's a great show. Hood love. Why don't we get this started? This is going to feature... This is a nice little tribute to Jeff Hanneman for his passing there. Chester, take it away. The town of Taza has been hit by numerous chemical attacks. One of the strikes happened right here and there's still a very distinct chemical odor. A bit hard to describe. Hundreds were injured. Describing trouble breathing, burning eyes, and blistering skin. Chemical weapons experts say that it was some sort of homemade mustard gas. Possibly combined with something else. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. This is a good one. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. I want to thank again the San Diego Heavy Metal Swap Meet guys for putting on a great event over there. San Diego really is the example of just the whole community, the whole attitude, the whole energy. I wish we could do that. How it should be done. I wish we could do that in L.A., but we don't. We won't. Too many dickheads here. Too many assholes wanting to talk to you about their bands. It actually works out better because, you know, as he said, a lot of people from L.A. go down there. Yeah, it's great to get out of L.A. It's just good to get out of L.A. And again, it's like Padres games and Charger games. You got a whole bunch of fuckers from down here who go down there and wreck shit and then leave. It's awesome. That's why we like San Diego. Joking people. We love San Diego. We heard at the top of the set, Anger is Art from their record. I'm going to say this slowly. Ad Mortem Festinamus. Great record. I concur. We had these guys here a couple of months ago. Great record. They're going to be playing the San Diego Swap Meet. Yes, indeed. So make sure you check them out. And? And after that, we heard our own Coffin Texts. Ethereal Conjugation from the record. Gods of Creation. Death. And Afterlife. All right. Let me. Oh, we have Caden on the line. Caden. Oh, boy. How you doing there? Hello. Caller, you're on the line one. Caller, are you on the line? I guess he dropped. Yeah. Okay. I didn't think so. All right. Well, see if you can get him on the line there, Chester. All right. Chester, can you turn that off for me, please? I love jazz, too, dude. Robert. Robert Cardenas of Coffin Texts. May 6th at Echo in Mexico. Coffin Texts is going to be playing there with Unholy Lust. It's for a birthday party. So enjoy it. Let me start off question number one, because there's so many things to talk to you about. So many ventures that I could go on. But question number one, what is the deal with Coffin Texts? This band, in my opinion, and in the opinion of many underground so-called journalists, this is a band that you created, that you wrote music with, that released records. That I would personally say were groundbreaking ahead of its time. But the band never left the underground cult status. And it seems to me... Like every other band in LA, right? What's the deal with this band? I know that you're involved with other projects, but it really does seem that you're cursed. What's the deal with this band? Well, you know, we try our best to try to put out something for the fans as much as possible. What is the status of the band? Is the band still intact? Do you still consider Coffin Texts active? Well, we're active when we have the time. You know, like... Please leave your message for... Please leave your message. Hey, Chester. Yeah. I'm in the middle of an interview here. We'll try to leave our message later, dude, but... Hey, Caden, why don't you call the show so we can talk about you DJing at Echo in Mexico while... And you can say hello to Robert Cardenas, who's here joining us. Thank you. He's my good friend, Caden. All right. He's great. I love Caden. Yeah. Talk to me about the status of the band. Well, it's just, you know, when we have the time, you know, me and Emilio are very busy trying to work with Possessed and focus on that. Is that where the priority's at? Yeah. We kind of... Well, you know, I don't want to say I want to shift it that way, but, you know, we're working on stuff. You know, I mean, Coffin Texts, you know, Richard's kind of busy with his family life. So we, you know, we try not to press things too hard on everyone. You know, we do it, you know, at a timely manner. When it's, you know, when we're all ready. When it's convenient? Yes, you could say that. So would it be safe to say that Coffin Texts is a band that you guys all kind of reactivate when you feel the need to, when you want to, when you miss playing those songs? Yeah, you could say that. You could say that. Do you also like the fact that it preserves the legacy and the history of the band? In other words, you won't have no Turbo Lover fucking records? No, no. Or you won't have any of these, like, other... Oh, boy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's death metal bands where they have a miss and then a super miss and then a what the fuck are they doing type of thing. Well, that's what comes down is signing to, you know, a label, you know, like when they want an album every year, then you start getting, you know, bands repeating themselves. And, you know, maybe sometimes like some of our songs might sound similar, but, you know, we try our hardest to come out with something that's unique, you know, and if you're rushed into every year, you got to put out a new album. Yeah. I don't think you're going to be very creative. You're going to have to spit that out because if not, you know, somebody's going to be up your ass asking you... There's a commitment. Where's the album at? Right. You know, so that kind of kills your creative, you know, your creativity because you're rushed, you know, so... Would you say that the fact that the band never really broke out from outside the underground scene is kind of a blessing in a way? Yeah. Well, you know, like again, you know, back in the 90s when everybody was, you know, fighting for that, you know, position and that slot to make it and to be the best band of whatever, I really don't give a shit, you know, anymore. We're at that point to where, you know, we put out music and we have our fans and that's it. And if they don't like it, you know, other people want to talk shit, that's their fucking problem. And isn't it more rewarding now that we're older and the fact that after all these decades where you can actually look back and say, hey, this is what I did. No one was doing it at that time. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. you know, you know, catalepsy, another great band from back, you know, back in the 90s, you know, and they didn't survive, you know, but that just happens, you know, you have members that just, you know, seem, you know, things change and years go by and people change and you get your girlfriend pregnant. Yeah, and that's it. Bye. And there goes the band. Weekend drinking turns into everyday drinking. It's just the way it goes. Diabetes comes in. Yeah. I mean, you know, your foot blows up and bye. When you play your Coffin Tex songs in the confines of the sanctity of your band members and when you're trying to think of writing new songs, are you intimidated by the legacy of those songs? No, not even. We just, we just write what we think sounds cool. What's the process of writing? Do you listen to the old material to try to get the foundation back? we never do that, dude. We never do that. We always just, we just come up with riffs, you know, off the top, you know, most of the time, like Richard's like writing most of it, like the last album, Richard wrote, you know, I'd say everything he wrote that whole album. Really? Yeah, Richard wrote the music, you know, but like the album before that, me and him had, we had collaborated on Gods of Creation, but this last album, he pretty much, you know, I gave it to him because yeah, I love the way he writes riffs. He took the lead on that. He writes stupid riffs that nobody can write, you know, that nobody can, conjure up. It's like only shit like that can come from this guy. I'm sorry. I don't give a shit what other people think, but you know, just kind of like the entity stuff, you know, there's certain elements that, you know, just people just don't write stuff like that. So that's why I kind of leave it up to him to, you know, write the stuff. You know what I mean? And when he writes it, it's kind of like, yeah, this is, you know, we could do something with this, you know, and then that's when we get the magic going where, Emilio comes up with, you know, this drum part or, maybe try this and then we, you know, collaborate. So I think that goes for, you know, unless you got one of those, you know, Nazi musicians that come in and, no, it's written like this and this is the way you're going to fucking play it. It's like, no, we don't do that, you know? So we're happy the way we write music. It's a true democracy. What would you say would be your description of your band and the essence that it produces? Because it's always interesting for me, it's always interesting for, it's always interesting for me when I hear the different classifications that so-called writers. Yeah, well, I mean, I don't want to start categorizing or genres or putting a name on it. Throw me an adjective. Throw you one? Yeah. I don't know, death metal, right? Do you find it? I leave it at that, you know, and that's what it is. I mean, we write about death, so, you know. You really do write about death. Yeah, I do. That's what I write about. But let me ask you this, the fact that if you talk to certain individuals that portray themselves to be involved in the whole descriptive of extreme underground music, writers, you know, fucking producers, whatever, they say that death metal has reached its epitome. In other words, it reached a certain level and then it just stood there. Yeah, well, it bottomed out. What's your opinion on that? You know, I think, yeah, it's kind of true, but, you know, you start to see, you know, bands like Cannibal Corpse, you know, hitting these bigger venues and, you know, and I really do hope that, one day, yeah, I can see damn Cannibal Corpse play at the fucking, you know, forum. You know what I mean? Wow, that would be a sign. And that would be great because, yeah, they deserve it and they're a fucking great band and I love those fucking guys and, you know, I can, I kind of see where it's going, but you know what? It's, you know, death metal is, it can, it can continue to keep growing. You know, it's going to continue. You give it another 20 years, yeah, I can see shit going on at the fucking forum with death metal bands because, you know, Iron Maiden's going to be gone. Everybody's going to be gone by that time. You know, you look at all these artists that are dropping dead like fucking crazy right now. So, you think about it, you got to start really thinking about the whole, all of the, you know, the sense of music. You look at the 70s as the musicians in the 70s are dying right now. So, the musicians that are now headlining will be dying, what, in 20 years from now? So, who's going to be playing those venues then? You understand what I'm saying? Yeah. You got to really think about that because then, I hope it's not fucking Lamb of God or some shit like that because it's going to fucking kill me. Sorry, you know, that band's cool, but dude, please, you know, don't put that band before Cannibal Corpse because you're going to fucking, you know, that's a big mistake. You know what I mean? I always find it interesting because I'll be the first to tell you that aside from other genres of music, they tend to become mundane and repetitive. What I like, what I enjoy and how it reflects, reflects back to you is the fact that when I listen to Coffin Text, it just really retains that moment in time, but yet, it's 20 something years later and when I go see you play like this Saturday, you still, it's still powerful. My question to you, my question to you though, and you pretty much kind of answered it, but I want to give, throw it a different spin, is, how are you able to play those songs after all these decades and not be able to be mundane and born with your own material? Do you get excited when you're playing this stuff? Because we take breaks. Do you get excited when you play these tunes? Yeah, yeah, because we take the breaks, you know? We take, we take years, you know, even sometimes we don't jam for like a year, you know? Does it keep it fresh for you? Yeah, it does. It does help a lot because I remember when we were at it, you know, trying to put the Tomb of Infinite Ritual together and we were practicing, you know, every fucking week, every weekend, you know, and it was, yeah, it got pretty brutal, dude, you know, and now it's like, yeah, when we play, it feels like, you know, it's fresher because we don't jam a lot, so. There's no need to grind on it. Exactly. There's no need to grind you. Yeah. Right? There's no need to milk it. There's no need to beat the horse to death. Yeah, I mean, like again, we're not signed to fucking, you know, Century Media expecting us to have an album every year or something. Would you like to be signed up? Well, you know, back in the day, yeah, I would have liked to be. No, I'm talking about present day. No, no, not anymore. So you enjoy it. I like the way it is right now. Do you think that also because you do participate in so many other bands, as a matter of fact, Chester, why don't we put, why don't we put up some images of some of the bands at Robertson? Why don't we start off with Malice? You want to put up Malice up there? You were playing with Malice for a bit. What am I looking at? That's the one picture I always wondered. What is the status of Malice? What am I looking at in that picture, dude? Look at these handsome bastards out there. What is the status of Malice right now? Because I'm a big Malice fan from the original days. Well, you know, we, you know, it's in hiatus, dude. I have to say, you know, New Breeds of God. Yeah, it was a great album. You know, James got busy with House Star again and, you know, he's doing his thing. I'm very happy for him. Great singer, great guy. You know, they just got signed, you know, Dave Alston's label. So, you know, but yeah, he's busy. He's busy, dude. What about Jay? Jay is, he's up north, you know, taking care of business, you know. I'm not really sure. I mean, last time I talked to him, yeah, he's doing okay. So, and then we got Mick, which got a little, he got a little sick. That reminds me, there's a GoFundMe page for Mick from Malice. We love you, Mick. He's fighting cancer. If you can go on my wall or the very manic Jimmy Caps, I'll repost it. Go to the GoFundMe and there's a page and donate whatever you can to this, you know, Mick from Malice is fighting cancer and God knows that's a horrible battle. Yeah. So Malice is, is a hiatus right now. You know, and then you got Pete, Pete Holmes, great, great drummer. Love the guy. Kicking ass and, you know, his band, you know, Black and Blue. So, you know, Black and Blue is Black and Blue. Well, let's talk about Possessed. Chester, put up Possessed up there for me. You've been playing with Possessed for a couple of years now. This seems to be the bread and butter for you. You tend to, you tour consecutively with these guys. What's the status? I can't say bread and butter, you know, I mean, we, you know, we do okay, but, you know, it's, it's more of the love for the metal. You know, we, we do a lot of, the work that we do, we, we sacrifice a lot, you know, Jeff, you know, the, the captain, our captain, and we love Jeff. And, yeah, you know, I mean, that's what we do. We do it, you know, to back up Jeff. What's the story with Possessed right now? You guys are writing new material? Yeah, yeah, it's already written. What can you talk to us about this? Oh, shit, we're on like 12, 12 songs right now. New songs, new material. all new shit. What would you say is the vein of the new Possessed? It's death metal. Yeah, I mean, it's kind of, it's kind of a mix of a lot of stuff, you know, I mean. Because when I, when Rick and Bay from Sadistic were in the band, they've discussed here in prior, in private conversations and on the record that Jeff was looking to change the sound, so to speak. What is it now? Is, is it back to the original sound? What's the new material? Because you're, you're involved in the writing process. but see, that's the thing is that, you know, it's, it's 2016, dude, you know. How would you describe it? We're not, we're not gonna, we're not gonna sit there and try to like, you know, clone fucking Possessed. You know what I mean? We're gonna write what the fuck we wanna write and if people don't like it, that's too fucking bad, you know, straight the fuck out. When can, and it's, it's great fucking music if you give it a chance because, yeah, when you hear this, you're gonna go, yeah, this shit's sick. Do you feel, do you feel that, this same question, different Ben, do you feel that the Possessed legacy also kind of is hard to overcome? No, I don't, I don't, I'm, cause this music's so good, I'm, I'm just like, yeah, I'm okay with it. Okay. You know, I'm confident, just put it that way and I've been playing, I've been playing music long enough to know good shit when I fucking hear it. So, yeah, you know, I, I know good shit, dude. This shit's good. You know, people that want to talk shit about it, they're probably, you know, Mike Terrell fans or, you know, Larry Lalonde fans that hate, you know, the fact that, you know, we, you know, Jeff continued on and, you know, and that's what we're doing and if, you know, if you can't live with it, oh, go fucking hang yourself. When do you, when, when, obviously you can't give me a specific date, but when do you think maybe New Possessed material might come out? shit, dude, I don't know. I don't know, man. I mean, you know, wait and see. We're just, you know, we're working on it. That's all I could say. You know, when it comes out, be prepared. So here's a band that I really, really have loved for decades. Chester, you want to put up Agent Steel for me, please? Agent Steel, such an underrated band. One of, I've said this over and over again. I, I think this band is amazing. All the different renditions. That's, that's Agent Steel. That's with John right there. We love John. John's, John's a man. I used to love John. I found out. Well, you know, he has his issues, but I love John. When it comes to, look, business wise. Yeah. He might, you know, trip on certain things, you know, people doing weird shit, you know, but I don't, I'm not going to trip on that. You know, this guy has his own shit. You know what I mean? He has his own, he has his own, you know, for you, it must be rewarding though, to have been able to play with. Yeah. I mean, it was fun, man. It was fun. It was fucking great. That was a great opportunity. You know, let's move it on to what it became. Masters of metal. Chester, you want to put up masters of metal? Yeah. This is something. Let me tell you, let me share this story with my listeners here. So again, it just seems that these amazing musicians have this black cloud for some reason. Poor Juan Garcia, how this guy has it, doesn't have an ulcer. I don't know. But here you guys, you're going, you're going through different singers trying to keep up with you. You keep the whole agent still thing going. Finally, you say, fuck it. And all of a sudden, Birdie, Birdie Versailles, I always butcher his last name. You find out that the guy is an amazing singer. You guys get on board, you write a record, you get the record out and then the guy suffers tragically in aneurysm. How is he doing from what you know? He's doing pretty good. Oh, sorry about that. Are you okay? Because I don't want you having a heart attack. Oh, wait a minute, dude. I'm drinking this. Johnny, can you give him a CPR, please? Oh, yeah. I'm a team. Just give me some more beer, dude. I'll be all right. Oh, shit. But anyway, yeah, Bernie's doing, he's doing much better now. I'm very, very happy to hear that he'll be with family for a while up in Colorado and we wish you the best, Bernie. The one thing that I could say about the Masters of Metal is that you did release the record from Worlds Beyond. I would encourage all of you to go get this record. A Meadowville, a Meadowville record. Amazing record. You can find it on Meadowville. But the true thing to commend on is the courage and the strength and the determination of Bernie on his recuperation. Oh, yeah. And the fact that all of you are still very united in the, I don't want to use the word patient, but you guys are, are putting your priorities in the right track, which is his rehabilitation. Well, you know, we, we thought a lot about the band and we wanted to continue and we decided to put it, you know, on hiatus for Bernie. But right then and there. And, yeah, and we, we, we, we're, hoping that Bernie comes back, you know, one day. But until that day, you know, everybody else is going to work on other stuff. Juan's got, you know, body count and, you know, now he's doing Evil Dead again. So, we wish Juan the best. You know, Regal's got his own stuff going on. So we're, you know, everyone's happy doing their own thing right now. You know what I mean? So, yeah. And of course, we all want to send positive energy to Bernie. Yes. Cheers, Bernie. Cheers. Chester, last image in grave. Let's put up in grave there. Now, this is interesting. The, and by the way, how you doing there, Eddie? You're, you're also a member of engraved. Thanks for having me on, Jimmy. What's the status of engraved? By the way, great fucking hair. Well, you know, we, yeah, Bobby, great hair, bro. Oh, thank you. Yeah. We, we kind of put that aside. You know, we, we had a lot of stuff going on. So, you know, we were proud to have the things that we had did in the past and the recordings. And we just wanted to kind of just put this away and just, you know, let it be what it was. And we just want to remember the good times and, you know, kind of just move on. Did you feel that that band came and went too soon? Well, you know, we had, you know, we had a moment there that we were, we were thinking about, you know, trying to work on some stuff. It just seemed like, seemed very repetitive, you know, that we were going to end up in the same situation we did a long time ago. So, when you say that, do you mean that the energy just wasn't natural? It wasn't organic? It was being forced? Yeah, it just kind of seemed like, you know, we were, we were kind of going back into that, the mode of, you know, where we were going to be, you know, years from now or a year from now, trying to take it to the next level. Let's get signed to the big, huge label or something like that. And we really didn't want to go down that road. You know, I know I didn't want to go down that road. I don't know about everybody else, but, you know, I didn't, I didn't see anything good coming out of it. You know what I mean? You know, we spent a lot of time on what we did. You know, we did, I think we did play a couple of shows and it just didn't seem like everybody, anybody was really interested in it anymore. I mean, I really did like the band and, you know, and we were trying, but, you know, it was just seemed like we were just beaming a dead horse to tell the truth, you know? Well, I commend you for your honesty and I commend you for doing the right thing, man. If the energy's not there, if it's not organic and real, and if it's not 100%, why, why, why go for it? I think, you know, putting a focus, you know, everybody needs to focus their energy on something that's going to, you know, benefit them, so. Final image. Let's put up the Coffin Text, Chester. Coffin Text is going to be playing May 6th. That's this Friday at Echo en Mexico with Unholy Lust and I believe another band. I don't know what it is. This is, this is going to be the first show that you've played, uh, it's going to be the first show this year and it's been a while, right? Yeah, we're going to be doing some, another set too with, with a friend of ours, a couple of friends. We're going to be doing some Black Sabbath tunes, you know. Now, this show, this show is to, it's like a birthday show, right? It's a birthday party, so, you know, we're going to be doing Coffin Text. We're going to be doing Coffin Text and then, you know, me and Emilio and some other friends are going to be doing some Black Sabbath tunes, so it's going to be like, you know, just an all-around jam, you know. We enjoy jamming the old stuff. We love Black Sabbath, so it's all good. So, it's kind of really like a friendly show to celebrate the birthday and then also, why not, why not bring Coffin Text? Of course, of course. You know, so for any of you who are real Coffin Text fans, I suggest that you go to Echo en México. This is going on again this Friday. Make sure you get, can people buy tickets ahead of time? Yeah, no, I think it's at the door. Okay. You know, it's at the door and all, you know, all you 410, you know, 420 friendly people out there, you know. Don't be shy. Yeah, check out our Gold Legacy Extracts. It's the best. Bring the supply. All right, why don't we listen to some Coffin Text and again, May 6th, check out a band that I strongly encourage to go see if you haven't seen, especially for you young extreme metal fans. See us done right. Yeah, can I chime in on the party? Sure. It's actually for, you know, Liz, Emilio, and myself, Eddie. Um, and, um, you know, it's just one, uh, strange connection that I have with Liz is that, uh, me and her. Easy, easy, easy. No, no, it's, this is gonna really blow your mind, dude. Me and her, me and her were born on the same day, same year, same hospital, dude, general hospital. Wow. So we probably shared the same, you know, we probably, the same nurse. Yeah, the same, maybe who knows, the same doctor. Wait a minute, say that again. So it's the same, the same day, the same day, same year, same year, same hospital, general hospital, room 122, bro. Wow. I even know the room where, you know. And then guess what? The cannabis connection unites it all, man. I love it. 420, baby. But yeah, yeah, so I just wanna thank, you know, you know, our good friends for, you know, being part of this, helping us out, supporting, you know, just, you know, getting together and having a good time with it, you know, Unholy Lust and Coffin Text and then, you know, our buddies, good friends that are gonna throw jam. Awesome. Sounds good, man. So, you know, be there. You guys don't have to bring a gift, but, you know, the, you know, important thing to us is just show up. I appreciate that because I really wasn't planning on shopping for you fucking guys. Yeah, I bet. Yeah, you know, thanks. Chester, let's crank some Coffin Text. Take it away. I got to tell you, Robert Cardenas, it's been a long time since you and I have gone together and had some beverages. You know what I like about Bobby? We're having them right now, God damn it. And you know what? Here's the deal. So May 6th. Hey, you know what? Barbers is cool, dude, but right here is better. May 6th, Coffin Tech is going to be playing with Unholy Less. Great show, great bands. This is the real deal when it comes to Extreme Underground, but a better thing is it's going to be a great environment because everyone's getting together. No rock star bullshit. Oh, yeah, sure, dude. Bunch of friends all getting together. Are you going to be wearing your shades while you play, by the way, Eddie? I ain't playing, bro. I'm just going to have a good time. It's his birthday. That's what it's all about. It's your birthday. It's my birthday, dude. You do what you want, Dan. You do what's your birthday and you can cry if you want. Listen, man, rock. He can cry if he wants to. As far as I'm concerned, Eddie's the only guy that can pull off that fucking Ray Charles. You know, he's got to have his fucking Mexican hat on and just sitting in the corner, dude, with his fucking drinks. All right, what did we hear there, Lost Johnny? Oh, man, we just heard Unholy Less. Taste the sin through the fire from the record of this name, the record of the same name. I still have that copy that they were nice enough to give us on vinyl. You know what? Let me be honest with you. I really like that band. I really like that band now, but I really liked that band when they had that female bass player. She was great. Oh, man. Oh, boy. You're so wrong, dude. No more roofies for you, Cam. Just kidding. Before that, we heard our guest. Just the way she played that bass. I know. Just those notes. We all loved her. Yeah, with your tongues hanging out right there. I know. Let's be professional. Coffin text. Final transformation from the record, the tomb of the infinite ritual. Let me ask you, this is very serious. There are a lot of, it's been documented that a lot of archaeologists, a lot of writers, a lot of biographers, anyone that dwells with that whole coffin text of Egypt, Egyptology is the word we're looking for. There always seems to be some sort of, I don't want to use the word curse, but there always seems to be some sort of coincidental bad luck experiences. Yeah, that's what happens when you're fucking with shit you don't understand. Have you experienced any of that? Well, I mean, recording the album, it took us fucking what, like 10 years to record the album. So, yeah. You mentioned that you're writing new material and you're going to be recording sometime soon, correct? Yeah. Will it follow in the same vein as the prior releases? Subject matter wise. No, I mean, I write about a bunch of different shit. So, you know, this stuff right here, I'm trying to think outside of the box. But as for the music, yeah, the music's fucking brutal, dude. It's heavy. It's a really mix of a lot of stuff. You know, like that's what we, when we write stuff, that's what we try to do. We try to mix it up so it's not just the same tempo through the whole fucking song. You know what I mean? But, yeah. Like a fusion of different. Yeah, it's a bunch of crazy shit that we just fuse together and to make songs, you know. But, yeah, the lyrics are going to be very, because I write the lyrics and I put the lyrics after, you know, we write the music. Like, so a lot of artists, they like to, you know, get the riffs and then write the lyrics and then put the lyrics. And then they're like, oh, yeah, we're going to put the music to the lyrics, you know, to make it kind of different, which is kind of cool, too. You can do that, too, which makes it different from, you know, other sources of writing. But we always try to just write the music first and then put the lyrics to the music. You know what I mean? Being that you play in so many different projects, or you have, how do you separate each project when you're writing material for them? It's just, I've been playing for so long, I can remember certain things. How quickly? Yeah, even Iron Maiden songs. I mean, I still know them from when I was a kid, so it's kind of weird. It's just, that's what happens when you play music. You know, you remember certain songs, how they're played, you know. When it comes to the Coffin Tex band, do you see yourself playing another 20 years? I hope. I don't know. I mean, you know, it's pretty demanding. So, you know, we just try to, like I said, we take our time and as, you know, we put out what we put out and that's pretty much it. You know, I'm not going to start, you know, being a fucking music Nazi on everyone and start, you know, slave driving everybody to put out an album this year like I did with Tomb of Infinite Ritual because every time I try to slave drive that shit, something happened. The energy. We lost the album fucking like four times digitally. We recorded the album and then, oh, I get a call. Oh, dude, the fucking drive died. Oh, really? Oh, okay. Let's record it again. We record it again. Oh, dude, we lost this. Oh, wow. Really? That's your bad luck. Wow. And then we said, fuck it. One more time. We record it. Oh, dude. Hey, are you, are you parked? Oh, man. You want to sit back real quick, real quick before I tell you this? So, yeah, we lost the album. Like three times, like four times. So I actually thought, yeah, we were fucking cursed, dude. And a lot of the things I think too, sometimes there's a content that I wrote about. But, you know, I think that goes with a lot of the energy with a lot of albums when you start writing about shit that, you know, it's pretty deep, you know, a lot of spiritual shit in there that I write about. I don't, I don't just, you know, write about fucking stupid shit. Like somebody died, got ran over by a fucking truck or some shit down the street, you know. That's, I'm way beyond all that shit. No, I would say I've, I've, I've gone into the lyrical content. You really do research very well. Coffin Tex is going to be playing August 12th. This is Friday, August 12th at the Regal Inn. That's, that's what we're booked for at the moment. What's interesting about a band like Coffin Tex is, as you mentioned very eloquently, you guys get together when you want. And it's a no commitment thing in regards to being forced to play. So this is why these shows are so exclusive, I would say. Yeah, yeah, they are. They're not to be missed. Well, I mean, once the Possessed stuff starts up again, which will probably be, I don't know, maybe late this year or starting next year. I mean, this year is pretty much, you know, we're going to try to dedicate as much, you know, much time as possible to Coffin Tex. So, you know, if we do play in your city or anywhere around, where you guys live, try to come out. This is interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Coffin Tex never left the United States, correct? No. Yeah, we've never left. Do you see it possible, maybe touring? Or maybe not touring, but a couple of dates out in Europe? We've got offered to go to Europe, but we won't go because it's just not financially feasible for us. We, you know, we're trying to keep it realistic. So, you know, we do appreciate, you know, roadmastery. Roadmastery, booking for, you know, keeping an eye out for us. We're hoping to work with them later on and, you know, maybe next year or something. But right now it's just not looking feasible. So we, you know. How does it make you feel, though, that you have not only a fan base here in the United States, but also in Europe and in South America? Yeah, you know, we're happy with it. For a band that doesn't really tour and, you know, the length of time in releasing records, releases and overall, I mean, I think that's, that's very, that's an incredible feat. Whereas bands that are touring every year and releasing every year. Well, I mean, you know, a lot of, you know, if you're going to tour, yeah, you better hope that, you know, people know about you. I mean, that's the whole purpose of touring. But, you know, we, yeah, we haven't, you know, we don't tour or anything. So we just. Do you think that's what's helped the legacy of the band and the appeal to the band? Well, I mean, I think that goes for a lot of bands in L.A., you know. They put out stuff and it just. It just carries and people like it and, you know, people want to put it out and they put it out. And yeah, word of mouth. Word of mouth to the next generation. Yeah, exactly. You know, even South America, you know, when we got brutalized records putting out, you know, Gods of Creation down there and it kind of, you know, it rippled effect, you know, so it kind of made a name for us in South America, which I'm happy about. You know, we don't have Tomb of Infinite Ritual out there, but, you know, it's cool. As far as you know, because the bootleg network, it's amazing. Yeah. Yeah. We're not worried about it. We're just, you know, we're happy with, you know, the stuff that we put out and we're happy with the fans that we have. And, you know, and we just do what we do. One of the things that I really respect and enjoy is when a band really is organically realistic and true to its music. I think you, aside from all your other projects, Robert, Bob, you really do display a very genuine attitude in regards to what you participate in. And what you contribute to in the realms of where you expect that to go. It's not 1980 fucking 384 where, like, back in the day, all these bands were trying to reach that epitome. Yeah. It seems what you're doing is you've dedicated your life to what you are true. And if you can make a living out of it, fucking fantastic. And you know where it goes. You're playing because it's from the heart. Yeah. And you got to always respect any person who does that. I mean, back in the early days, you know, in the 90s, we did. We did take things a lot more serious, you know, but, you know, we kind of grew up and, you know, realize that, yeah, I mean, there's a, there's life beyond, you know, metal. So, you know, we worked on other stuff, but yeah, you know, I've always stood playing metal, you know, in different bands, but, you know, my, my heart's always been with Coffin Tex. It's just the time factor and, you know, Richard, you know, which is lifestyle and, you know, what he has going on. And, you know, I don't want to, you know, deprive him of what his, his lifestyle is and take him away from what he loves. You know what I mean? We, you know, there's no point in doing that. We don't need to do that. You know what I mean? We take our time and, you know, we put out stuff when we feel like doing, and we got a great record label behind us. You know, we got Matt from Dark Descent behind us. So we're happy with that and horns up to Matt. Right on. May 6th here in Los Angeles, Echo in Mexico, El Sereno, Coffin Tex. Very exclusive, very rare performance. Along with Unholy Lust. Chester, you want to put up that flyer? There you go. Make sure you show up there and get your tickets. And it's also a gathering of friends to celebrate birthday festivities. Overall, great energy. Yeah, we got DJ Katen. Oh, that's right. Hey, Chester, can we try to get Katen on the line? You there, Chester? Yeah, let me, let me see what happens. I love DJ Katen when he's singing for Hyrax. I don't know. I don't know. I love him. Let's see if we get him on the line here. Hello, Katen, Katen. Answer the phone. Good morning, caller. How you doing there, Katen? Answer the phone. I think you can do it, Katen. Answer the phone. It's from a funny 213 number, but you can do it. Please leave your message for... Oh, God. Thank you, Hyrax. Thank you, this guy. All right, let's leave him a message there. Hey, Katen. Hey, Katen. Jimmy Caps from the Very Mad at Jimmy Caps show, along with Robert Cardenas of Coffee Text. What's up, dude? When are you going to answer the phone, dude? Now, you're going to be spinning this Friday. You're going to be spinning a lot of your hand metal jams. We wanted to chat with you so you could promote your appearance there, along with the many others. I love you, Katen. And I think it'd be best if you... We have a couple of minutes left. Maybe you could call in and just say hello. All right, take care. All right, with that, we're going to be playing... Let's play another Coffee Text tune. Chester, take it away. Chester, take it away. A redemption for you And your enemies What has to be From the souls To the gods Lord of the earth Save me Save me I Save me I Save me I God who steals our souls Save me I From the urans' corruption Save me I Lift the watchers' hatred Save me I From those in charge of darkness And from those Slay the Whom we first include As the war Among the language ones Abate And the! SAVE US! RA Geb recuerbet RA Geb recuerbet Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All right. That right there is the epitome of what I've been talking about. Some sick, real, brutal, extreme underground Los Angeles metal. Cough and text. Johnny, what track? What was the name of that track? The Sacred Eye. No, no, no. Oh. Oh. Correct us? Yep. Was it right? Are you sure it was Sacred Eye? You tell me. Counselor, you wrote this down. The Sacred Eye? I guess you're right. The Sacred Eye. Oh, all right. Well, now we got that over. Over that little hurdle. I was going to say, I never. It ain't fucking Kajagoogoo. I know. Writer's block. It's a B-side. No. I think it is. I think it is. Yeah. This is why we're the hosts. You spin me right round? I was going to say, I never get tired of listening to Emilio play drums. That guy is a fucking beast and a half. And I've been listening to him. I've been listening to him since the Brainstorm days. Oh, that's right. Yeah. You are a percussionist. He's fucking amazing. I love Emilio as a drummer. And as a person. He's a nice guy. You know what I heard the other day was coalition, LA death coalition. You guys remember that? Yeah. The compilation? Yeah. That was great. Yeah. Brainstorm was on that shit. Was it really? Yeah. Along with Fear Factory and Demolition and all that? Yeah. It was Brainstorm, Fear Factory, and shit. Who else was on there? That's a lot. That's a lot. It was always Resistant Militia. Wow. Wow. Tony, huh? All right. Let's mention, let's refresh our memory here with some great shows coming up. This Friday, Echo and Mejio, Coffin Text, as we've been mentioning with Unholy Lust. And then, mark your calendars, August 12th, Friday, Coffin Text at the Regal Inn. And possibly, maybe, down the line, a couple more shows, maybe? Yeah. We're working on it. How can people keep in touch with Coffin Text? Just check out the Facebook. You know, just take, you know, give us a call. We'll be right back. Shout out to Coffin Text for sending us some like or some shit, you know? And then, we'll post up stuff coming up. We're talking with some other people from up north, so we're hoping we get some stuff going on. Are the releases still available? Yes. Yes, they are. It depends. Some of them are on Apparition Music. If you go on our Facebook stuff, we got Apparition Music stuff. And then, if you want stuff from Dark Descent, they got stuff on Dark Descent, so ... Okay. So, people can still purchase that? Yes. Yes. All right. right here. So many bands from that epic era that we discussed that disbanded. The fact that Coffin Tex is still around now. These shows are indeed a must attend if you truly want to see the true, what I would say, character restrict of extreme LA metal. And the fact that you do it genuinely because, you know, it is what it is. You're not trying to make money off it. You're not trying to make a livelihood of it. You just enjoy it and when you want to play, you play. Final words. What do you see yourself doing not only with Coffin Tex but with all your other bands? What do you see yourself doing? Just playing. Just playing what I like doing. Does it satisfy you, man? Do you like it? Because you've been doing it for so long. Yeah, I mean. It's not an easy life. It's not. Yeah, it's not. People think it is but it's not. Well, you know, everybody thinks that, you know, it's all gravy. You know, like I'm driving around in a fucking Lamborghini or some shit which is not happening. You know, I mean, everybody's struggling here in Los Angeles with 18 million fucking people here. Come on, give me a break, dude. And everybody is trying to be a somebody. Everybody has that ego shit on their shoulder where they're like, yeah, I'm fucking somebody, motherfucker. Don't. You know what I mean? It's like, dude, just chill out. Just go smoke some weed. You know, go eat a brownie. Relax. It's so easy. Everybody's cool. Right. You know, no need to. You're not. You're not James Brown. Yeah, no need. No need to cop the attitude or pull the fucking ego bullshit because it's like, yeah, I've lived here my whole life and then I got people from like the fucking East Coast coming over here copying an attitude with me. It's like, dude, you know, it's like ego tripping on me. Like, you know, if you're going to come over here, just be cool. You know, you don't need to blend in like everyone else and pull the ego bullshit like everybody else does. You know, there's no, no point. You know, everyone's cool here. You know, the people I know that are cool. You know, but it's like, that's, you know, it's just the way it is, dude. You go to gigs and, you know, you got these rock stars that aren't really rock stars. Not only that. I've never seen you on an album before, but for some reason this person thinks that, you know. Not only that, my thing. They're Instagram rock stars. My favorite thing is certain rehearsal studios where these guys are fucking, they never leave the city of Vernon, but yet they think they've conquered the world. Oh, yeah. Burn, right? You know. You know what I mean? That's, that's sometimes people are on their fucking, you know, delirious, you know, you know, you know, if you, if you're big in the 562 area code, chances are you're not very big outside of that 562 area code. Final question. Hey, that's the area code I live in. Come on. Final question, and this is really going to take, I want to give you a couple seconds to think about it. Trump or Hillary? We're at that age now where we have to pay attention. Trump or Hillary? Come on, really? No, you vote for him. Are you getting the, I vote for him. Yeah, see, I vote for that shit right there. Vote for Eddie. Vote for Eddie. I vote for Satan. How's that? There you go. Close enough. Confidence. I'm running this time around. Hey, wait, wait, I got one question to ask. I wanted to ask, you know, Jimmy, when was the first time he ever spoke on the radio? Does he remember? Actually, I do. That's a good question. We were talking about this earlier. Actually, there's three answers to that. All right, let's hear it. The very first time I spoke on the radio, okay, the very, very first time I spoke on the radio, it really wasn't a radio. It was in my room. I was pretending. Oh, okay. I was getting like a radio thing, you know, and then recording and then mixing and pretending that I was on that. So how old were you? I'd say I was like maybe 16, 17. Is that when you had the Rob Halford leather hat on and you were confused about your sexuality? I want to bring this up. There are, the first time that I spoke on the radio where people were listening was when I joined you for a KDC Manic Metal interview. That's right. That's right. With Mosh and John. With Mosh and John, dude. Now, let me ask you this because I swear to God, I don't remember how this happened. You went for the interview. Yeah, I needed a ride and you gave me the ride. Okay, but how did, how did I transition into hosting that show? No, because we were sitting there and John was talking about, about, well, he wasn't really talking about leaving yet, but we were all talking and we started talking about shows and you were just like, you were a natural, dude. You kicked ass and he was like, wow. And then he started talking about that he was leaving and then after when we turned the radio off, you know, you guys talked about you taking over that spot and yeah, it just worked. You were a natural. You kicked ass. How is it that you've been smoking cannabis for over 25 years and yet I can't remember anything that happened yesterday? Whoops. I got the worst fucking memory. Because I smoke a lot of it, that's why. You know what? That's right though. I went with you to that interview and then I guess somehow the transition happened where I took over that show and then Johnny, you came on board and then we dealt. And now you're here. That's the first time I spoke on the radio. So then, we should technically thank you, Robert Cardenas. Yeah, man. You're welcome. But then, who do we bitch about? With all the bullshit that we dealt with over there. All the egos. With the exception of Crazy Craig. With all the egos. Yeah, dude. We have some stories. You gotta blame Masha and John for that. No, Masha and John are great guys. Final words here. You know, Los Angeles, there are so many artists, musicians that come here and they try or think that they've created something and they haven't done shit. Time erodes it all. And then, there are a few that capture the integrity, the true heart, the true being of what they're trying to create and it lasts a lifetime. Thank you for being here on the Very Manic Jimmy Cash Show, Robert Cardenas. You're welcome. Thank you for having me. We're gonna end it with one final Coffin Track song. May 6th, this Friday, make sure you go see Coffin Text play, performs, again, what we've been discussing, true, true, extreme, brutal death metal at its finest. Thank you all for listening. See ya. Chester, take it away. What? I forgot about that, man. Yeah. Ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha! Closer and closer You'll be reborn into their world The body, the core, the soul The entities of the never-worn Raging from the hidden tombs The devil is bred with death The revenge for fear Is the time to take you under This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding This land is recuerding Red fusion, merciless dream Operate vision, isolation Ingrate, desolate and provide Disappear Take the complete time Slowly, the glory In this world Tribulation Come my fears with me I must make my death Judge myself Through my linear defection Is my dream come Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me
