📄 Transcript [show]

I want to ask you about the Anti-Defamation League, which this week called on you to publicly condemn unequivocally the racism of former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, who recently said that voting against you at this point would be treason to your heritage. Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election? Well, just so you understand, I don't know anything about David Duke, okay? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don't know. I mean, I don't know. Did he endorse me or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about. But I guess the question from the Anti-Defamation League is even if you don't know about their endorsement, there are these groups and individuals endorsing you. Would you just say? Unequivocally, you condemn them and you don't want their support. Well I have to look at the group. I mean, I don't know what group you're talking about. You wouldn't want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I'd have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them and certainly I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong. But you may have groups in there that are totally fine and it would be very unfair. So give me a list of the groups and I'll let you know. Okay. I mean, I'm just talking about David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan here, but... I don't know. I don't know David Duke. I don't believe I've ever met him. I'm pretty sure I didn't meet him and I just don't know anything about him. Well, you all been hunting black folks for so long. We just want to see what it felt like to hunt white folks. I'm DNA. And people have to be alerted to the fact that we are getting some really bad characters coming into this country. Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! Fuck that puto! All right, it's time for some real music. It's showtime. We have seen imitators. We've also seen duplicators. But now, it's time for the originators. Los Angeles and the rest of the horrified, shocked world. Super Tuesday here in the United States. You're listening to the very manic and somewhat depressed Jimmy Cab Show. I am your host, Jimmy Cabs, broadcasting live from beautiful downtown gentrified Los Angeles. Where do we begin, folks? Okay, let's just get into it here. Janet Foster, the very lovely and beautiful Janet Foster. How are you? Thank you for joining us here. Thank you for having me. Let me first apologize for all the vulgar language that you just heard in that opening segment there. But we keep it real underground and subversive. But what's going on? What's happening here? Super Tuesday. I'm horrified. I've been listening to somewhat of what's been going on. The Greg Stilson campaign, a.k.a. Donald Trump, is... People were laughing at him a couple months ago. Yes, and he is proving that he wants that nomination and people want him to have it. And I think for the Republicans, definitely the establishment. They need to look at what they've done. Help me understand this, okay? Because... Don't worry, Scott. We'll get to you in a minute. By the way, Scott from Cryptic Slaughter is here. And he used to play in Cryptic Slaughter. Okay. Enjoy your beverage. Janet Foster hosts the Janet Foster Show here on We Play Radio. It's a political show. You're a political commentator, writer, reporter. Yes. Help me, and please, talk to me like a child. Help me understand how is this possible? Not just from the Republican's stand. I mean, what's going on with the Democrats, too? I mean, someone of my demographic who normally has voted Democratic, I find myself horrified with these choices that I'm being forced to choose between the lesser of both evils. Let's start with Trump. You know, you are not alone in that feeling. Where's everybody else? Why isn't anybody else yelling out of the fucking window? What's going on here? Well, in terms of these two parties, you sort of... We're sort of where we are, where we are as a result of voter absenteeism. That's the first thing, you know, particularly on the Democratic side. You had, after 2008, voters just didn't show up in midterm elections. And they did show up in 2012, but they didn't show up in 2014. So when you start thinking about people in the wings or being groomed or being ready, it's... When you have an unpredictable... Unacceptable kind of, you know, constituency, you know, things like this happen. And then with the Republicans, they've got... Oh, there's Bedlam over there. The Democrats are bad, but the Republicans are worse. It's Bedlam. They are in a situation where they could actually make themselves extinct. Because what they did was... With the Tea Party movement, the Tea Party movement was the worst thing to happen to Republicans because these basic... Renegades. And I term them as people who live paycheck to paycheck, who vote aspirationally. Because... And it's part of the whole Karl Rove theory and his whole super PAC mindset, where they wanted to bring in individuals that basically are willing to vote against their own interests. So that's how you got the Tea Party members. And Tea Partiers, they feel like... You know, these are people who are either working class, lower working, lower middle class workers who feel like something's being stolen from them, whether it's people on public assistance or immigrants coming in, taking their jobs. That's that demographic. So you've got Republicans for the last three election cycles. They've given a faux, I guess, faux purpose for those individuals. And then... And then it just morphed into Tea Partyism. And then now, and within the Republicans, they are bringing out... They've gone past the dog whistle politics of... Chester, Chester, do you have any cannabis back there? Because... Yeah, man, I'll hook you up. You want to smoke a bunch of weed and forget about all this shit? Yeah, Janet, this is why... First of all, by the way, you are listening to Very Manic Jimmy Capsule. We'll be getting a couple of minutes back to shit jokes and Satan shit. But... This is why, ladies and gentlemen, you really want to pay attention to what's going on right now because it does affect us all. Primaries are closed? The polls are closed? For most states... Give me the rundown, please. In the Republican race, we've got... I'm not kidding. Someone rolled me a joint. Yeah. In the Republican race, only one poll that's still open, and that's Alaska. Great. You know, they're even... They're even an hour behind. They're even an hour behind. They're even an hour behind California. So... Fantastic. Actually, in the next 40 minutes, that poll will close. But pretty much everything else is closed. And Trump carried every state. There were a total... There are a total of 11 states. And Trump carried... Out of the 11 so far, Trump has carried nine. Okay. Did he carry them with a high percentage of the vote? Yeah. In terms of delegates, that's what's up to stake in these primaries. He got the majority of the delegates. Let me interrupt you there and ask you this very interesting and stupid question at the same time. Because for me, just to say stupid people are voting for Trump, that's incorrect. No. He has a message that has touched the silent majority here in the United States. The message is, hey, all these people are coming into this country and taking what's yours. We're weak. The whole world is laughing at us. Okay. We need to put a wall and... This specific demographic of people need to go back to their countries. And people are eating that up. Why are people not listening or realizing that this is a guy who makes his billions off the middle class? Off the middle class and immigrants. Who sells their future. His business is to undermine the middle class, to pay shitty wages. So he makes more. He makes more profit. Exactly. How are people voting for this guy? These are... He outsources jobs. He doesn't bring jobs in. They vote... How's he going to create jobs? They vote aspirationally. You know, when you... The first thing that you do is you get people to think that something's being taken away from them. And that this person's going to fix it. They don't really understand that. But what's interesting is there are two sets of Republicans. You know, the quote unquote silent majority, which... I kind of wonder who that is, really. Those individuals. But also there's what I always call the cocktail set, the country club set. That they're... Trump is wealthy like them, but he's an outsider to them. Oh, he is now. More definitely. He always has been. Without a doubt, no. He wasn't born and raised on Park Avenue. He was born... Trump was born in Queens. And, you know, you've got the Koch brothers. He runs the whole Park Avenue set. And they are livid. And, you know, it's going to be interesting to see what happens with the establishment. Because Rubio was touted as the establishment person. But he's not doing very well tonight. Well, this is another thing I want to interject. By the way, if anybody wants to call in and voice their opinion on this. I can't be the only one. Scott, is your dad voting for Trump? Oh, no, no. My pops is definitely not voting for Trump. Let me ask. That's a demographic. I've been noticing within the last 48 hours that I believe it was Rubio who has lowered his bar. And he was coming out with that Trump sort of political agenda. Playing the schoolyard game and dropping names and, you know, trying to take for tat with the insults. What's going on here? Well, the thing about this is Rubio's got some other issues. He's got a lot of issues. Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not... Let's not forget about the Zodiac killer over there, too. The other one. Well, we'll get to Cruz in a minute. But... This is a fucking nightmare. Rubio, he actually has some financial issues. People in the state of Florida know about that. And, you know, a lot of Floridians like to say, you don't know Rubio like the way we know him. The state Republican Party actually had one of their executives go to jail. They had a lot of people go to jail over credit card gate that Rubio was a part of. Rubio was using the corporate card, paying for work done in his house. He's not the only one. They all do that. He got caught, though. Well, he was protected, but the other guy went to jail. And that's one thing. And then his ties to the prison industrial complex, that's a sore spot with a lot of voters. And, you know, in Florida, people are very... They're very upset about Rubio even running. And his base of support, his only base of support is obviously the Cuban community. Cubans are supporting Rubio more than Ted Cruz because Ted Cruz, he doesn't identify... I'd say his Latino heritage, it appears to be something of a convenient thing for him. He's, you know... Whenever he can get over, but he's tried to assimilate too much. He's the political Leo DiCaprio. Leo DiCaprio... He'll play a role. Leo DiCaprio came out and said that he was from East LA. He wasn't from East LA. He's not from East LA. Trust me. There's an article in the LA Weekly that talks about where he's from. But let's switch gears here and go with... Well, before we do that, it's safe to say that, as of right now, Trump really is leading the pack, correct? Yeah, he is. My question for you is this. Is it possible... Is it possible for the Republicans, if he does win that nominee, to abandon him? They can. And what will happen... Because it kind of looks like it's going that way. It does. There's talk of that. And both parties could actually have that happen. But the Republicans look like that they could gear into that. And how you're able to see it is... It depends on who's left in the race. I think all five candidates will be hanging around until the end of this month. But definitely by the end of this month... Or even, I'd say, after next week, the 15th... After March 15th, we should have a good idea of who's going to get that nomination. Because the gap will be extremely wide. But they can... What they can do is they can go to try to flip delegates. Because what happens is, based on registered... Each state has something called... Whether they're open or closed. And they can vote in the polls. And they can vote in the polls. And they can vote in the polls. And they can vote in the polls. Like here in California, we're open primary. Which means any registered voter can go and vote. Vote in the polls for either party. And a lot of these states that went today, they were closed primary. Which means you can only vote for the party that you are registered in. So independents can't show up. And then I think a couple of them do have... You can change your registration for that day. But a lot of things that's happening in the Republican Party is that on the floor, they could actually go to start flipping delegates. Although, you know, this has happened. And that's actually the way it used to happen way back in the day. That that would happen. And it could happen. And I think if you remember when Trump was starting in late fall, when Trump kept saying he wouldn't sign a... And he kept bringing up the words, if I'm being treated fairly. Correct. And that was kind of code words because of the cocktail set within the Republicans. Yeah, that's right. He is an outsider to them. And they don't care for him. They, you know, it's a whole... The Koch brothers have this whole plan along with Sheldon Adeson, you know, in terms of how they make their money, what they want to make their money. And how they want to change America. And there's a lot of mention of ties to the John Birch Society. And just all kinds of nonsense. But it could happen. They could overturn it. For those of you that are wondering why we're discussing this with Janet Foster, it's because, as I mentioned, it does affect you. You may think that you're securing your job. You may think that, you know, you're exempt from being homeless. Listen. At any moment, your job could be probably shipped out overseas. There are individuals that go to college and they gather this massive debt and they're working at Costco. You know? And listen, the Democrats are not the light either. Quickly, let me ask you this, Janet, because obviously it looks like Hillary Clinton is going to be leading that pack there. Why is it that Bernie Sanders... And I'm not a big Bernie guy either. But his agenda really does touch me where he's basically saying, look, enough's enough. Let's take back this country. Let's take back what's ours. Right. And it just seems that it's not falling on deaf ears. People are hearing it. With the exception of the youth. Yeah. People are hearing it. But at the same time, Bernie Sanders has got one major problem. And that's the fact that he's been an independent. He hasn't been independent. He's a Democrat. And so when you get... You have a loyal basis like the African-American community and the Latino community, they don't know who he is. They don't know. He's a regional guy. And, you know, for today and South Carolina, that was the test for him in terms of the South or in areas that have minorities, African-Americans and Latinos. And he's not doing well. A lot of it is... No one knows about him. In the African-American community, you know, the big card that's been played mostly for older African-American voters are, okay, Bernie says he was in the civil rights movement. And that was kind of a big back and forth about that. But at the same time, yes, as a young man, he did things. But no one's seen him involved now. And that's kind of hard for a lot of people. And it is kind of odd in the sense that, although as a senator, he caucused with the Democrats, but he's an independent. But you can't speak out and say things either about how things are run when you're basically borrowing the platform. Yeah, you can't talk shit about big money when you're soliciting it. And also, you know, you can't talk about super PACs when although Democrats have super PACs too, they don't have as many as the Republicans. But they have them. And a lot of them are tied here in Los Angeles to Hollywood, you know. And it's a kind of a hard, it's a hard way to go with that. And then you have Bernie who hasn't really been involved with organized labor for the majority of his career as a senator. And, you know, the two largest minority groups that are the loyal base to the Democratic Party, they just don't know him. And that's going to be interesting because, um, today, um, he, Bernie pulled Oklahoma. And, um, they think he's going to do well in, um, in Minnesota. They're still counting. And it was obvious he was going to take Vermont since that's his home state. But one thing that's being very surprising is that Hillary so far is ahead in Massachusetts. And that's in the Northeast. That's in his backyard. And she's given him a run for his money. But, um, again, minorities are in those areas. And that's what, that's what's taking Bernie out. And it looks like two women are voting for Hillary three to one. So, um, you know, Bernie's got a hard job. We're going to move it along here. But let me ask you one final question. Right now, do you have projections as far as the African American and Latino, uh, communities or demographic of where right now they're, uh, projected to vote? Democratic wise? As of today? Yes. Um, as of today, they're looking at about 84%. Wow. It could be higher than that because, you know, as you get closer, you know, we've, um, because this is primary, the primary, um, a lot of times the entire available electorate is split between two camps. But of the, of the registered voters that have been in a lot of polls, it looks like Hillary's going to pull. It's going to pull more than 80% in terms of minorities. Okay. And largely it's because of the two people that are there, they know, they know who she is. The power of the power of Bill also. And yeah, it is Bill definitely in the African American community. People, um, you know, I have personal experience from working, um, advance, um, working on, um, you know, um, programs where Bill Clinton has gone to speak and just setting up working. Yeah. He's a rock star. People love him. People love him. They think he's part of the family. Before Obama, black people would say he's the first black president. Janet Foster has a show here on We Play Radio. Uh, it airs live every Tuesday from six to seven, correct? Yes. Pacific Standard Time. Yes. Thank you very much, uh, Janet for, uh, coming on here and, uh, depressing the fuck out of us. But also educating. Thank you very much for, uh, informing us on what's going on. Again, as I mentioned, I'm a big fan of the show. I love it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. your head out of your ass and figure out what's going on. All right, let's move it along. Janet, thank you so much for being here. Thank you for having me. Very, very lovely. As we mentioned, you're listening to the very manic Jimmy Cab Show. I'm here with Scott Peterson and Kurt Vicks Lauder. Scott, how are you doing after all that? My brain is going to explode. Do you follow this? Do you see the severity and the seriousness of where we're at? The whole world is just horrified. They're laughing at us. I don't follow it as well as I should, and I'll be honest about that. You're all like, who's Bertie? I know who's running it, and I'm aware, and I pay attention, but you're very passionate about it. You are also very passionate. I got to stop watching. She's well more educated in what's going on than you are, but you're getting there. I'm getting there. I am nervous. I don't want Trump in the White House. Bernie seems to have some good ideas. So does Hillary, but it's scary. I'll save myself from looking stupid and just say it's scary right now. It's scary. You know, over the weekend here in Los Angeles, the media has been going crazy over an incident that occurred in Anaheim, California, Orange County, where a group of KKK members decided to voice their constitutional right to their free amendment speech and voice their fucking backward thinking or what have you, which they're entitled to. Let me just say this right off the bat. Here in America, you're entitled. You're entitled to think and say whatever the fuck you want. This is why this country is so great. You don't agree with it, that's fine too. No one's shoving it down your throat. You know, if some guy wants to or a group of guys want to ramble about, you know, say racially charged, insulting, degrading stuff, so be it. They have the right to do it as long as it doesn't affect you. Unfortunately, a bunch of young kids who really should be registering to vote and combating the real white supremacists, and the real bigoted people. And when I say that, I don't mean that just on the color. The color of preference is green right now, okay? So, unfortunately, a bunch of kids with spikes. Did you see the footage on that? Yes, I did. Hey, Chester, I think we have a news clip. Why don't you play that news clip? Listen to this. This is amazing. I'm a Fox clan member. I'm a Fox clan member. I'm a Fox clan member. I'm a Fox clan member. I'm a Fox clan member. stabbed a counter-protester with the decorative end of a flagpole, setting off a vicious brawl where three people were stabbed, one critically, and two were assaulted during a rally in California for White Lives Matter. Anaheim police had notified the public about the planned KKK protest Friday at Pearson Park, about three miles from Disneyland, and said they would be monitoring the situation for any violations of law. The department also said that while the group's signs and flyers might be provocative, they are protected by the First Amendment. Twelve people were initially arrested, but five were released after investigators reviewed video of the confrontation. Those taken into custody were four Klansmen who were booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon and three counter-protesters on suspicion of stomping on an elderly Klan member. Now, for some reason, these kids thought it was cool to, I mean, if you wanted to protest against it, that's fine. I'm in full agreement with that. But as to lay your hands on someone, did you see the footage on that? Yes, I did. Chester, do we have Heather on the line? Yeah. Heather, how are you doing? Thank you for being on the very... I'm doing well, how are you? Thank you for being on the Very Manic Jimmy Cab Show. Now, you're a photographer, and you were out at this event, correct? Yes. Why don't you tell me what you witnessed? So, they were supposed to be there at 10 a.m., the KKK, and it was a peaceful beginning. You know, there were people there that, of course, didn't want them there and that were waiting for them. And then the, I guess, they call themselves punks, they ended up showing up, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, They were ready for a fight. And KKK showed up. And it was about six of them older. There was one woman. And then the males, they were older. And they got there about 1230. And right when they showed up, I heard, there they are. And I ran over, and it was just chaos. Now, I believe we have some of your footages. Chester, you want to put some of Heather's footages of the event there while we discuss this? Would you say that when you got there, the crowd that was in opposition to the KKK, did they look like they were more than willing looking for a confrontation? No, it didn't look like they were looking for a confrontation. So was it a small percentage of people from that group that got involved with this physical altercation? Yes. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. were taking your pictures what was the sentiment of the people that were witnessing this were they supporting these kids beating up the kkk were they trying to stop it where was that nobody give a fuck what was going on i think it was a little bit of all i mean i was just you know shooting the chaos so you know um from the footage that i've seen i mean i know a lot of i mean i know people don't want the kkk in anaheim i grew up in anaheim you know we don't have room for that type of hate in anaheim we don't want that in in the city so um i don't think anybody was planning to let them go ahead and say what they needed to say right right but you know this is interesting for me uh i i find it funny that there's this and by all means i'm not saying this is a good thing i'm not saying this is a good thing i'm not saying this is a towards you heather but i find it interesting scott that people are outraged that a bunch of older old hillbilly senior citizen white race johnny rebel guys and yet fucking janet all over the united states trump is dominating yes with a a clear-cut agenda i mean he has voiced such discriminatory comments towards the muslim demographic and again before i have a bunch of people email me this reminds me the the attacking of a certain group reminds me similar to similar to the 50s and 60s with the blacks with the african-americans and in the 40s when we uh lashed out against the japanese americans and interred the japanese i mean it's history repeat itself heather when you were taking these pictures did at any point did you notice how tight those leather pants of that punk rocker kid oh my gosh i have heard that because i got a lot of people that are like that because i got a lot of people that are like that because i got a lot of people that are like that i gotta tell you for being so violent they they really they really uh they trust for the occasion is what you're saying they really coordinate well they really coordinate well now let me ask you the kid that got the kid that got stabbed uh the diabetic looking kid was he bleeding was he bleeding profusely what did he when he got when he got stabbed did he cry out for his mother no but he was bleeding i mean that was it was i wasn't expecting you know to come out there with me and catch footage of that. That's not what I was expecting at all. You got some amazing footage, by the way. I got to tell you. Yes, and just everybody just loved my photos. I mean, I'm just amazed, you know. It was chaotic. It was crazy. I was not expecting to capture that. Now, was there a police presence there? They say that there were undercovers there, but I didn't see anything like that. But what about regular officers? Was there a presence there? So, in other words, they left these KKK protesters on their own? There was no police presence there beforehand? No. I mean, it was probably a good 10 minutes after everything happened that they showed up. Wow. Wow. This is interesting. Well, again, I want to thank you for taking these amazing footages and these amazing photos and covering this. For me, I've been getting a lot of shit because what I've been saying, Janet and Scott, I've been saying, hey, listen. Obviously, I come from a Mexican background. I'm not going to support the KKK. I support any group to say what they want to say. Under free speech, you can say whatever the fuck you want. Yeah, that's true. Again, I don't have to agree with it. And why am I voicing this? This is because what about if I say something? It's protocol here now. You know, you can't go out and just attack. This is America. You can't go out and just attack a bunch of white racists for being racist. You know, you can protest against them. But I would like to say this to the kids, and maybe you might want to agree with this and add on. Next time when you want to beat up on Grandpa fucking Johnny Rebel, calm the fuck down because you're going to get stabbed, number one. He's been around for a while. Those old men, they know how to fuck with you. Yeah. Number two, don't wear tight leather pants. Number three, just register to vote. Yes. Register to vote. Now there's like this fund me, go fund me campaign going for the kid that got stabbed. They're trying to raise $80,000 for his stupid ass. Listen, if you would have just registered to vote, I know it sounds silly, but I'm telling you, the power, the true rebellious power is in the voting. You know, register to vote. Don't go out there and beat up on an old fucking man. Heather, I want to thank you so much. Joining us on the Very Manic Jimmy Capp show. These images are great. Are you getting paid by the media? Because I've been seeing some of your images being used by the media. Are you getting paid for this? I have. Vice paid me for one of my photos. Good, good. Because, you know, we don't work for free here, you know? Fuck that. You know what I mean? For sure. But, you know, I feel like everybody needs to see what went on there. And so, you know. You know, Anaheim always gets a bad rap, man. It always gets a bad rap. You know, you got the ducks there. You got Disneyland. You got fucking. The angels. You know, and now you got old KKK people coming out and a bunch of Salvador and Guatemala and stabbed. Trying to fuck them up, getting stabbed. Heather, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having me. And giving me your prerogative. And thank you for these amazing shots. Let me just ask you one final question. After this melee, what was overall the sentiment of the crowd that did not get involved in the physical? All the cases where they shocked, where they discussed it, that they support the beating of these white people? I mean, what was the sentiment? All that. Really? All that? Yeah. This is why America's fucked. We're fucked. Jesus. I'm going to smoke marijuana now. Heather, thank you so much for joining us. Sounded very manic. Jimmy Caps, you darling. Okay. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. This is the problem here, man. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. Everybody's. I mean, the old people are coming out talking shit like it's the 50s. Bunch of punk rock kids all with their studs are, you know, not understanding the true laws and natures of this country. I'm sounding intelligent and with common sense. What's going on there, man? Armageddon, baby. Armageddon. It's the end of the world. All right. We got a great show for you today. Thank God we're going to start playing some music. Fucking depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. I'm depressed. is fucking horrible too. By the way, cunnilingus and toilet paper does not go hand in hand. Let me just, let me just share with you that little secret. The Shrine, a fantastic band from Venice, California. What an amazing band. Venice, California, before the gentrified invasion, has had such a rich history in rebellious, subversive culture, whether it's skateboarding. Scott, you were out there getting, when you were a kid, skateboarding around. The punk rock, the music, it's such an amazing, amazing subculture. And these young men with old souls have really captured that essence. 2016, they're really tearing up. Scott, how awesome are The Shrine? The Shrine are an incredible band, hardworking band, true musicians in the purest form, in my opinion. They played with great bands like Graveyard. I bet you they're not registered to vote either. They don't do that. I'm going to probably say they are. I'm going to, you know. They better write a song about Trump and Hillary. This is fucking crazy. No, they're a great band. And if you have not heard The Shrine, I highly recommend that if you're in the MC5, early social, not social, excuse me, suicidal, just good fucking metal and punk rock, The Shrine are a great band. Amazing band. And they're going to be here once they, where are they at? They're going to be here. They're here somewhere in downtown. They'll be here joining us. All right. Many have tried to imitate. Many have tried to replicate. Many have tried to be real, but there's only one true, real underground subversive show. You're listening to The Barry Manick, Jimmy Capshow. Chester, take it away. Would it surprise you to learn that you've come in contact with a potential killer more than once? Many of you, in fact, have been watched by a murderer. Someone very possibly sitting next to you or behind you has killed. Sometimes it's a stranger, but it could be a friend. Or the quiet guy that lives next door. Cheers. We'll be right back. All that news about fucking what's going on politically and all the madness in the world. I had to smoke a joint with Sexy Bobby, Shrine Sexy Bobby. How you doing there, Bob? I want to thank you for fucking completely sabotaging my show because I'm so fucking stoned right now. I feel like jumping off that fucking window. Why do you think I said no? I will later afterwards. Yeah. Take a hit, go home and go to sleep, man. You know, the only thing you got to remember, by the way. You're listening to the very manic and stoned Jimmy Cab show. You know, marijuana for me has always been fucking torture. Look at Bob right there. Beautiful hair. Are we getting him on camera? Hey, Bob, the shit that you guys are smoking out is no wonder you guys are attacking fucking senior citizen fucking Nazis and shit, man. I mean, this is... I don't... When I smoke weed, I like to get relaxed. I'm on fucking Mars, man. All right, let's get back to this here. Scott, what did we hear? We heard... We heard Church of Misery, a song called Confessions of the Embittered Soul. That's going to be off a new album that's coming out this Friday. And that's with Scott Carlson. That's right. Singing on it. Scott Carlson on vocals. Pick it up. Rides above records. After that, we heard The Heaviness of Yidra, a song called Reign of Terror off their Colt Abathur EP. And we ended the set with a band called Conan, a song called Thorn of Fire off the Revengeance album. Chester has some great news about Conan. Are you there, Chester? Fill us in. Yeah, so Conan's going to be here on the Very Manic Jimmy Cab Show March 20th. That's the day that they're playing at the Complex on their U.S. tour. That's right. The Complex. That's in Glendale. Conan, Yidra. Who else is on that bill? Chester, do you know? You caught me off guard, man. I don't know. Now, let me ask you this. You're also going to be feeding Conan, correct? Yeah. I asked... You know, I asked John from Conan what they were interested in eating, and he just wants burgers. Yeah, he doesn't want fish and chips. He wants burgers. American burgers, Scott. All right. I love them. So that's going to be March 20th, correct? Correct. All right. How can people subscribe to the Very Manic Jimmy Cab Show? So, if you... We're shooting for 4 p.m. Pacific time for the live broadcast of that show. We've got to be flexible for the band. Because they're playing that night. But after that, you can always just go to iTunes and search for the Very Manic Jimmy Cab Show. There, you want to subscribe to get every one of your shows. All right. Okay. Let me just, first of all, say Venice, California has had a long, rich history. As I mentioned earlier, Scott. Yes. Venice, California has a long, rich history of very... Ahead of its time, rebellious, subversive art. Whether it's music, whether it's writing, you know. You grew up in that part of town, didn't you? You know more than I do. I grew up on the south side of Santa Monica, off of Ocean Park. I was on Pier 23rd. And spent many, many days at Station 26. Went to Samohai. So, Samohai, I love now. Oop, oop. Okay. Makes three of us. I'll say, the three gentlemen across from me. Not you, Bobby. No? I'm going to Venice. Not me. Not me. Okay. So, we got, you know, we got three Samohai alumni. All right. Yeah, I know. And to be from Venice and Santa Monica, there's a vibe about living around the beach. I mean, look at the doors captured it. Suicidal captured it. And I honestly think the shrine have captured that as well. That's right. The shrine. These three... By the way, I hope you don't get insulted if I call you young men. Because I know we're living in a different age. Last time I used that, some guy's like, fuck you. But anyways. That was to me too when he was... These three young gentlemen have done not only what keeps rock and roll alive. They've also channeled and nurtured and are reproducing to their demographic and the younger kids what real rock and roll is. Young bodies, old souls. The shrine. Thank you for being here on the Barry Maddox Recap Show. Thank you. Thanks for having us. That is California. Shit.! You are literally the example of why bands like yourself become mentioned for decades. Look what's going on in your neighborhood right now. Gentrification. You see it firsthand. Yeah, it's insane. With your music though. Again, you're doing the same thing because everything is so corporate and predictable and packaged well. You guys are literally bringing back rebelliousness and rawness. Yes. How did that happen? Did you guys have older brothers? Did you guys find their albums? Talk to me about how you nurtured that organ. Hang out at the beach, the skate park and hear old guys complain about how much shit sucks. And take cues from their t-shirts and from old movies. Do you get that a lot though? Old skateboarding ads. When people approach you, do they say, man, you guys really capture that spirit. But you guys aren't doing that. You guys are just being you. Yeah, I mean, you know. I can't hide it. Me and Corp both went to Santa Monica High School. You know, a lot of our friends, my little brother's friends, just the community is a bunch of fucking skateboard maniacs. And weird, I don't know, interesting people that make very interesting choices with their lives and might screw them up. Or might do something good. But they're still like Microsoft maybe in Venice. But the suits are like still walking past like homeless mothers and weird shit. It's a really weird thing. It's a really weird time. Yeah, reality right in the face. It's a really weird time down there. I like the fact that you guys are hardworking. You guys really go out there and you do it the, I don't want to say the old school way, the real way. You tour. You play. You guys live, you guys live the real life. You tour and you play on stage. How do you do that? Because even though you are young men, that's a fucking very draining lifestyle. How do you keep that energy on stage every night? How do you do that? Fake it. Really? Really? You know, I asked another musician that. Another musician told me drugs. Everyone has their own. Well, yeah. I mean, there's really nothing else to do. I mean, this is what we do full time. Let's get you in the mic. I think all of our idols, music or otherwise. I like what you said. This is what you do. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, all of our music idols and also, you know, otherwise. I don't know, skateboarders, different people, surfers. Whatever it is, like Motorhead, Black Flag. They both worked their fucking asses off. To the end. Toured, toured, toured, put out albums. You know, like, it wasn't a, they weren't weekend warriors. It was like, you could tell that they woke up in the morning and practiced and worked their asses off. And I don't know, just being obsessed with their music and that world rubs off on you. Would you say that you're maybe focusing on the realness of the situation? Because you see it firsthand. You guys have worked very hard and now you are getting success. You guys are always playing amazing shows, great tours. You're traveling the world. Your audience has expanded outside of your backyard. But you're living the life. You're getting that experience, good and bad. Has that helped you? Definitely. Has that helped you with your writing? The bad shows are probably the better stories. Really good ones. When you say that we're playing a lot of really good shows. We played once in Buffalo, New York. Maybe two or three years ago with our friends, Dirty Fences. And there was literally one guy at the show. And it was a hippie with dreadlocks and a bad brain shirt. And he was frying on mushrooms. And he told us. And he got us right away. He was the only dude at the show in Buffalo. And we told him, you know, we don't know anybody here. You're the only person at this place. We need somewhere to crash. And he told us, he was like, yeah, come stay with me. We get there. Turns out he's just crashing on the couch at somebody else's house. So after like a terrible show, we show up somewhere and we have nowhere to stay. This guy's already staying on the couch at his friend's house. And a side note, he took us to Rick James' gravestone. Oh, wow. That's cool. We had to jump the fence a couple times. Yeah, we went inside. After we got back to his house, he was like, you guys want to go to Rick James' grave? We went over there, hopped the fence, went walking into the graveyard. He took us to the spot. He couldn't find it. And he was like, dude, I swear, this is where it was. You know what? People were doing so many drugs off it. Did they? They moved it. They do that all the time. They move graves around. And then our friend was like, it's right here. Yeah. We hung out there for a while. And then on our way out, one of our other buddies was like, oh, there it is. Yeah. Wow. That's those whole experiences that you're going through. How has it affected your music? Or has it affected your music? Yeah, probably. Because I've seen the growth from album to album. I've seen you grow. But what I've always liked. What I've always liked about it, what I've always liked of what you've achieved, is that you've grown and you're evolving, but yet you still keep the core ethics. You know, you're still Coke. You're not new Coke. You know, you're Coke. You're not, you know, you get what I'm saying? Yeah, I know. Yeah. No, because you guys are the only three original members of the band. There's been no other. Yeah, exactly. That's another remarkable thing. Yeah, so they've been through the good and the bad together and grown through all that shit. Don't forget Bobby. Bobby's the fucking unsung hero. He's the fourth member there. He's the fourth Beatle. Yeah. He didn't say you were a Ringo. He just said fourth Beatle. That's all you know. But yeah, have you done that naturally or are you conscious of that to, you know, keep the core there, but also, you know, let yourself jam and free and write whatever you want to do? Yeah, I mean, you know, you just kind of try and, you know, you just kind of try and, you know, you just kind of try and, you know, on one day I might play 20 different riffs and make up 20 different things. And you kind of just pick out from it what you like the most. I mean, all you're trying to do is make some music that you would want to hear or see. And so, you know, you kind of like unconsciously come up with stuff, but then you consciously choose it when you like recognize that it's something you actually like. Because, you know, you can play a lot of different shit. You know, we have a lot of different influences and it seeps in and there's no hiding it or denying it. And one day you're like listening to Hendrix. And it's like, shit, this riff sounds way too much. Just like a Hendrix rip off or something or then Lazy or whatever. And then like later you end up like it ends up unconsciously mixing in with something else. And you come up with something that you actually like and you think is worth it enough to take out of your living room. Would it be safe to say that if it feels good, it is good? Yeah. Right? If it feels good, do it. Yeah, right on. The Rare Breed, that's their latest, the Shrine's latest release. Yes. You guys have been touring everywhere. I'm assuming you guys are in a down period right now. Getting ready to leave again? Yeah. The festival season is right around the corner. We're off until April and we're doing some shows with Ghost on the East Coast. Oh, nice. Nice. And then we go back to Europe in May and we do a bunch of festivals featuring Black Sabbath and Maiden. Wow. Alice Cooper. It's great. It's really great to see how much you guys have grown. You guys have grown on so many levels, man. Thanks. So much shit we're going to talk to. Let's get back into some music. Let's listen to some Shrine. Chester, take it away. Take a look at that sign up there. It says, cash for your home. You know what that is? It's a billboard. What are y'all, Amos and Andy? Are you stepping and he's fetching? I'm talking about the message, what it stands for. It's called gentrification. It's what happens when the property, value of a certain area is brought down. Huh? You listening? Yeah. They bring the property value down. They can buy the land at a lower price. Then they move all the people out, raise the property value and sell it at a profit. Build your fantasy, claim your dream. Rule your world, don't piss at my screen. Love your life and live your hell. The edge of life now lies perfectly still. Drink your poison and dig your grave. The holy king will die like a slave. Keep your nose clean and watch your back. There's always a drug around to take a crack. I've got enough problems that I'm a whole living thing. Your interference won't make answers for me. I'm a fool. I'm a fool. Cheers. Dev to invaders Dev to invaders SYMMETRY We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. We'll be right back. like kind of a softer song called dusted and busted that i'd written on an acoustic guitar that we didn't even know if we'd make it on the album and and i kind of like we work with the producer and he wasn't sure about it at first because like what it initially attracted him to the band was stuff like acid drop and rare breed like really riffing stuff and uh he was kind of like like initially very dismissive like nah that shit's not going i'm going i want the the the like chromatic blah blah blah and uh how do you how do you take that you don't get offended when like a professional who's supposed to tell you what's up but still like no not that too man oh i i when that hits you in the balls well yeah because you know we we uh you know really like uh dug a lot of the same music as him and you know he's been through a lot so you know it kind of like i i took it like uh sure you can say that now i'm gonna like i'm not gonna give up on that i'm gonna prove you wrong and then like send him a recording i did playing acoustic guitar because we hadn't like figured it out exactly yet you know because it's you know you've got a basic idea to a song when we jam it it could go 20 different ways you know um you know how you how long you wait for the drums to come in how fast you play it there's different shit and you know as you're figuring it out sometimes it's like oh is this a disco song oh is this a country song oh this is you know and so uh you know you're of have an idea when you make something up where it should land and it's not maybe obvious to everybody else yet or something right so you have to try and like uh not only play a play a song but you gotta try and like especially when we work with a producer like try and explain it and then everybody's like using words to explain it you can't do that anyways it's like such you get into such stupid rhetoric of like well it's a little like this but it's a little like this and it's like tomorrow it's like completely different wow i i don't know how you guys do it man one of the things that uh scott you could relate to this because you're a musician and you know about the band you know cryptic slaughter when you put out something like when you first came out with your demo and then uh the follow-up you became known as that but did you did that ever head you guys you're like oh i'm known as a loud rock band which is great but what if one of these days i'm going to spice it up and change it you get what i'm saying because there's some bands that can't survive that label once they get that label now they feel pressure like oh i gotta keep repeating myself with every release i don't know if we've ever worried about that specifically i mean really good it's uh whether i mean really simple enough it's if we think it's cool or not i mean you know just that simple keep it simple right if we're if we're excited about it we know it and if we're not then we just you know well also if you listen to all their records the one thing that i think is really important is that if you listen to all their records then you know in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in they capture that on every record. It's just who the Shrine is, their attitude, and the great songwriting, in my opinion. Right on. Thank you, man. That's an epic compliment. What's going on with you guys? As you mentioned, you're going to be playing pretty soon, right? Yeah, I mean, it all starts back up in April. Yeah, we're actually, we're going to do a party here. That's the only thing we're doing until then. We're doing a party here in Hollywood for Obey, Shepard Fairey's company, and Huff, the skateboard company. Nice. They're doing a party together, and it's going to be on March 9th at Molly Malone's, and it's going to be like a free party at a tiny little place. Fairfax skate party. It should be real good. Why don't you give that out again so people can hear that? Yeah, March 9th at Molly Malone's. I think we're announcing it before those companies did, but they'll probably be a flyer floating around or something in the next few days. It's, you know, we've played a lot of different places. We kind of, at this point, choose to play stuff that's like as involved with as many of our different friends as we can, whether it's like a skateboard company or make sure... Is that because of the freedom that you have now, the flexibility to do that now? I mean, we try to do that always, even from the beginning. You know, we would always, you know, you know... Yeah, I've seen you guys play with so many diverse, not only bands, but even genres of music, man. And the one... You know what? I know you probably... I don't want to say I don't want to say I don't want to assume that I know what you're thinking, but you probably get this a lot, that you capture that 70s sound, that 70s vibe, which there's nothing wrong with that. But what I always liked is the different scenes that I would see you play. You guys always kept it, as we've discussed before, simple. It was loud, raw, and every show was fucking rocking. Thanks, man. Thank you. Let's listen to some more Shrine. Chester, wake up over there. Hit it! I need a drink. We're keeping you away from the weed. Where's Chester at? Hey, Chester, wake up. Shit. Listen to the music. All right, Scott. Maybe you better go over there and turn on the... You want me to hum? Yeah, go wake up. In the old days, it was nice because at that time, we just didn't care about anything about what was happening. We just didn't look at the future. No, just for now. No. Everything now and then for tomorrow. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It's back in the sky You think you got me You put me down We're on the run I think you got me I think you're safe We're back down We're free The boys are back again The city comes in front of you It's real and kind of what will you do? The pain in your eyes It's back in the sky Our day has come The battle will be won My pulse is rising My face is bleeding Your mouth is genuine I'm here with my king I think you got me I think you're safe The boys are back again We're free The boys are back again The boys are back again The pain in your eyes It's back in the sky Our day has come The battle will be won I think you got me I think you're safe The boys are back again You're the best You hear the cries And here we stand The boys are back again It was so fucking good. All right. Fuck, that was a long song. Scott, what did we hear? I don't know. I lost count after that whole long suicidal. What did we hear there? We started off again with The Almighty Shrine off their new album, Rare Breed, a song called Sausage Skulls and Nomads. We went on to The Almighty BOC that we were talking about while it was playing, a song called Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, and we ended with Suicidal, Look Up, The Boys Are Back in Town. You mentioned you guys got a couple of shows coming up, right? Yeah. Here and locally. You guys got some impressive fucking tours you're going to be on and festival bills. How do you feel about playing with some of these artists? Out of our fucking minds. So many. You're playing with some of them are legends. How do you feel about that? My favorite bands ever that are somehow still alive. Right? Oh, dude, this is a year of death, too, so you better fucking... We're taking notes. Excited about playing with any specific artists that comes to mind? I mean, you've already played with some amazing... Dude, from Lee Ving to Nick Turner. Yeah, we've got a... You know, like, we're playing with a lot, a lot of legends. We always take the opportunity to mention our buddies bands that we really like. We just... Right before we got here, we went to Pizza Nista and got some pizza. And our friend Jed, who plays in the band in LA, Zig Zags, was there, and they're a fucking great band. Wow. They're maybe, like, the closest vibe to us band, I think. Really? That exists. That's at least going on here in LA. At the moment, that's, like, we jammed a bunch of shows with them. Not in a little while, but, yeah, they're awesome. And really good friends, Dirty Fences. Like, just as excited as we are to play these crazy festivals, our friends bands get us psyched. When you play these shows, do you ever think about, like, who you're playing with, who you're opening for, or who you're sharing the bill with? Because I notice when you're on stage, aside from you guys just doing your thing and enjoying what you're doing, let me elaborate that, because there's so many bands that it becomes a job, dude. Like, you could even count, like, how they're just, that headbanging is just so fucking, it's not even real. It's, like, fucking part of a ritual, so to speak. You know? Do you, talk to me about that. Do you even think about who you're sharing the stage with, or you just go up there and do your thing and tune out? Yeah, we definitely do. We definitely, like, makes you think we were on that motorboat, with Motorhead and Slayer. Like, it's not intimidating seeing maybe Kerry King checking you out in the corner? You know what I mean? He was looking at Bobby. He's jealous. He's going, he's looking at Bobby going, wow, that used to be my hair, that fucker. Look at him. Kerry King never had that fucking hair, dude. Kerry King was thinning from the get-go, dude. Bobby. Boy, that just fucking derailed that question. I'll give him some champagne. Most of the time when we're on tour, too, to get back to that question, we're usually become, like, real good friends with every band we've ever been on tour with. So, you know, no matter who we're playing with. Every band? You haven't run into someone that you thought you were going to get along with and it turned out to be dicks? No, I mean, probably the opposite. We probably thought maybe we wouldn't get along with some people and then ended up getting, you know, whatever. But every tour that we've done, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, we've, you know, always got along with the bands really well, always looked up to them and been grateful for being, to be able to be on tour. I love that, too, man. You guys are fans. You guys are music fans. Once the tour ends and you don't see those people anymore, it's like you kind of lose touch, you know? It's almost like an old friend or family member that you, you're like, yeah, we're going to hang out sometimes, but they live across the world and, you know, you never know when you're going to get back there again. Yeah, and then you end up being in their country where they're on tour. They come here when you guys are on tour. Right, exactly. I could have imagined, especially with you guys' touring schedule. We kind of get in touch and it's like we've made friends, have been friends for years now. It's pretty cool. Yeah, we've been lucky with that. One of the things that I've always liked about the Shrine and your essence, you. It's on sale. No, seriously. Check this out, man. Go to Donald Trump's webpage. There was, I mean, I'm at the tail end of that era of rock and roll, right? So I remember how fans, fans worshipped fucking Jimmy Page and Morrison. Like they were gods. And dude, like, I think that's probably why I hate that genre of music. It was so embedded. Like you have to worship Robert Planton. You're like, dude, this guy ripped off fucking like real R&B soul artists. But the point is, is you guys are just, you're music fans, right? I bet you when you're not playing music, you're listening to music, you're thinking about music, you're talking about music, right? We were just talking about Jimmy Page today about how he was one of the most creative guitar players ever, but ever since 1980, he hasn't really done anything. The firm fucking just sucked the creativity out of him. Right. New music, you guys write any new music? Yeah, all the time. Talk to me about that. Because you seem to record and release consecutively as well. We were playing some new songs earlier in this album, just came out a month ago, the way music gets released, it's still the old, well, for us, I mean, like, you know, we do a lot of our own shit, but at the moment, you know, we've got a normal record label, one of the traditional blah, blah, blah. You know, some people record a song on their phone and put it up on the internet that day. We're like, you know, recorded on an old tape machine, takes a while with the producer, got it mastered, putting it out. This is the first time we stepped up to this big label that's under Sony now. You know, it took almost a year from the time we recorded it to the time we released it. And it's already, you know, it just came out in January. We were playing new songs today at practice, you know, and always, you can't turn it off, you know. No matter what you do, you go walk down the street and you hear some homeless guy say something crazy and it makes you laugh and then you write it down and you're later, you're like, that has to, that's gonna work its way into a song and, you know. Yeah, yeah. You guys are just soaking up everything, right? You always gotta be about 11 steps ahead because you never know when you're going to, you know, do it again or when you're gonna be able to record again or when you're gonna be able to put an album out again. So you have to be in that position all the time. Yeah, I think that's also the death of most bands. They stop writing once they get signed. They go, we have a record, we can just play these songs and the real bands that stick around and last, they keep writing and writing no matter what. Yeah, I mean, to me, we could be writing songs in the garage in Mar Vista for the next 10 years and that'd be fine with me. All the touring and everything else is like the cherry on top. Wow, wow. You know, it's interesting because I find it, one of the things, you know, you know, it's interesting because I find it, one of the things that I really, really admire by all three of you is the hard work that you've put into touring. And Bobby. And Bobby. You know, again, Bobby. And hair product for Bobby. No, but seriously, I really admire that work ethic. It's full of Pert Plus. Scott, you can attest to this because, I mean, Cryptic Slaughter didn't do tours throughout the United States. These guys are constantly touring, constantly. No, we did small potatoes compared to what these guys do. Oh, these guys are hard workers. My question to you is, is do your family support this? Not now where the success is coming in and you're globally flying everywhere. In the beginning, did your family support you guys? Did they say, yeah, go ahead, rock out, do your thing. To give it a hundred percent. Yeah. Really? All three of our families had unwavering support. Then I think that's another factor. Especially in the beginning. I mean, Josh's family has always been there because, you know, we've been around them most because they are where we are. But all of our family, you know, we've been around them most because they are where we are. But all of our family has had unwavering support. I mean, Josh's family has always been real supportive. I mean, we tour around, you know, the United States and, you know, those are some of the best parts of the tours when we get to go see Quartz family or my family. Wow. You know, they're always there. That's great. Yeah, they're all rock fans. They're all. Yeah, I mean, these are the people who got us into to a certain degree. Maybe not, you know, everything. My dad wasn't listening to, you know. But I also say probably all my parents were. My dad's a stoner guitar player. Yeah. The ultimate. Went to Fairfax High. He's been playing guitar since he's seven. Yeah. But he never pushed music on me like he was always. If I wanted to like get an amp or get something, I'd probably eventually get it after I bugged him enough. But then he wouldn't like, you know, we'd go home with it and he'd like force me to learn some song or something. He actually would never show me anything. I think he put that away when he had kids. And like, he really only played his own songs. Mostly like on acoustic guitar. And like until I was 20 years old, maybe 19, I couldn't tell you the difference between the Stones or the Beatles because I only listened to like hardcore punk and SSD stuff. And like he never pushed anything else on me. It wasn't like, well, now that you're trying to record, you need to hear you need to hear Hendrix. You're playing guitar. Sit down and listen to Hendrix album with me. Never happened until I was like 20 years old and like found it on my own. And then he'd come in and be like, I know how to play this song. And I'd be like, you never. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What about you with Solo on the next record? Yeah. He doesn't want... No, he's got good ideas. He's got... I don't know. He knows a lot. It's sick. It's really cool. I bet you, though, I bet you they're probably tripping on the fact that you guys not only... By the way, it didn't happen fucking overnight. No. I'm making it sound like it happened overnight. Two nights. You fucking... You guys really did it old school way, man. And you did it the only way. You guys played and played and played. But I like how this whole current river that goes globally of opening music to new people, you guys got sucked up with that, man. You guys are fucking all over the place. So far, where do you guys, out of all the places in the world that you've gone to, where did they accept the Shrine the most? The vibe, the energy, the music? Japan. Really? Yeah. Japan's fucking crazy. Yeah. They've always been that way, man. They love that rock and roll, man. They love California. They know they're as big of nerds about old American shit and music and motorcycles and skateboarding as we are any sort of kind of Americana. You guys don't take your girlfriends or wives to Japan when you tour, do you? Sometimes. My girlfriend has been a photographer and works on a lot of projects that we do with some different companies that have backed us pretty hard, some skateboarding companies that have, you know, the record labels haven't really been there for us, but a lot of friends, skateboard companies have, and so we get tangled up in these projects, you know, doing photo zines or different stuff, and my girlfriend shoots a lot of the photos and brings a lot of her friends in, whether it's like, you know, just to be part of graphics or to be, you know, there for the vibe. There just seems to be so much positive energy around you guys, not only from the way you guys all get along to when you get together and write as a group, you know, and you're like, you know, I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. But even, like, your friends and your family, I mean, that's cool. There's just a lot of energy there, man, a lot of positive energy. That's awesome. Yeah, it's really cool. I mean, we had the record release party, you know, at a friend of ours' warehouse, and in the beginning, you know, we used to see a lot of the same people at our shows because they were our friends, and all those people, you know, now years later came to the record release party, and it was just like a conglomerate of everybody that's been a part of it. Right on, man. Yeah, I think, and kind of what you're saying about violence violence violence violence violence violence violence violence violence violence our community and having a bit of positivity. The world is miserable in a lot of ways. And a lot of our friends don't really see it getting better from the things that are out of our hand, the wars, the drug problems, the, I don't know, poverty. Yeah, socially, internationally. We're in like a bubble here, kind of in Los Angeles. There's a lot of ugly, fucked up shit. But, you know, the people that are around us, are able to take that with like a bit of humor and just be happy to live and happy to go crazy and appreciate the fucking rad shit that's going on. So I don't know, yeah. Enjoy every minute of life. Yeah. While you can. Right? While you can. Jesus. Thank God I spoke that joint. All right. The Shrine is going to be touring, because you guys are always touring, but you're going to be playing some big festivals. We mentioned that you're going to be going to Europe, correct? We mentioned you're going to be touring with Ghost. Did we talk about that? Yeah. Yeah, we're doing a couple shows with them in April and around New York. We're going to Europe for the summer. We're playing the Download Festival in London, and we're playing the Download France Festival in Paris. We're playing Hellfest also in France. Then all the lineups are mind-blowing. It's like our friends bands are playing, and Iron Maiden and Sabbath are playing a bunch of these things. It's un-fucking-believable. Where can people go to find out specifically where you're going to be? Where can people go to check out what's up with the Shrine? Shrineband.com or on, you know, it's like there's, I don't even know, whatever the... Social media sites. There's a lot of listings. I'm not even able to follow all of them, but there's a lot of bands in town, whatever. There's shit on there. If you search us, it's pretty easy to find. Okay, and where can people get the band's new album? On our store, Eliminator Store, elmntr.com. Nice. All right, let's play some more Shrine. Again, as we mentioned, the Shrine is a live band, so they will be coming to your town or your country very soon. Make sure you go and check them out. Amazing fucking band. Chester, take it away. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
