You just heard Frank LaPope. Yeah, yeah. You're sleeping, man. Wake up. So anyways, I went downstairs because... Why? Yeah, please explain. See what happens? I don't know what happens. But anyways, I'm really surrounded by really great artists here. Off the air, we were talking with Santoros a little bit. They're on a mission to go to South by Southwest, maybe. And also we have Peachy King, right? Am I saying it right? Yep, you got it. All right. I'm from Scotland, so I have an accent. We also have two photographers here. Can you shout out your name? What's your name? Daniel Fierro. Daniel Fierro. Daniel Fierro. That's the new photographer. Fiaturus, actually. Sweet, you guys have your own photographer? He's wearing a cool shirt. LA Ink. I can see your nipples from here, though. What's going on? It's actually really warm in here. I don't know why that's going on. No, it is warm. It gets warm, you know. Two people here, four, five, six bodies in here. And if it were hot, it's even hotter. You know. Well, I want to thank you guys for coming down to Piña Tower. So we're going to play some of your music. Do we have their music, Sonia? Sonia? Sonia is like... Do we have their music ready? So why don't we play first? Let's go with Pichikini and then we're going to ask him a couple questions. I'm sorry, say Pichikini again, right? It's Keen. Yeah, it's Keen. Okay. So we're going to play some of their music right now. What's the name of the first song right here? I think it's Violet. All right, so we're going to go ahead and play Violet and we'll come back. Violet and Violet Violet and Violet Where do I start? I begin when you broke my heart I don't have to lie This is something I cannot hide You see right through me I'll be what you want You see Just don't let go Don't say no And it's simply hard To love you And I don't want to fall apart And I Don't want to fall apart Don't want to fall apart Don't fall apart guitar solo guitar solo How long have you been working on this song? D That song? Yeah Oh, that song took a few months to kind of sort through And the last thing I added was probably like the lyrics Right And the melody, yeah What do you write about your songs? What inspires you to write your songs? Well, usually I write a lot about I guess love and relationships Love and relationships? Yeah, and lately I feel like I've been writing a lot about like LA And what it's like living there and stuff Those ones aren't happy LA music scene is not happy Were you in a relationship or? Yeah, I'm in a relationship now with a keyboardist Oh Of my band Oh, cool Yeah You like brunettes, right? Yes, definitely Did you see that on our website or something? Yes, I did Oh, okay, yes I saw it on Wikipedia Everything for brunettes Yes And light eyes Nice Which she has, yeah And the bass line of that song is probably my favorite To play live Our bassist is amazing She's only 20, but she's super talented All of you guys look really, really young Yeah, she's 20, she's the youngest Everybody's in their 20s Yep I'm 26, so Oh, you're too old for that But I have a baby face, so I still look really young Yeah, I was going to give you 22, maybe Yeah, I get 19 a lot, too That gets annoying I'm 13 He gets 10 and 13, apparently Yeah, please don't take your glasses off Okay Looks even younger But that's good, though, right? Yeah Yeah Are you guys been playing a lot, LA? Have you been getting asked to play a lot of gigs and stuff? Yeah It's getting to the point where I don't really have to reach out to anyone People kind of come to us and want us to play at venues And other bands want us to play on the bill with them, which is really awesome You know what is really interesting about LA? There's a lot of scenes Me doing this show A lot of what? Different scenes Oh, yeah, scenes, yeah Different groups, I guess, or communities Where I get to see a lot of music and a lot of bands Totally, yeah Yeah Not everyone's cool, but it's awesome when you run into a band that respects you And likes your music and you get along and stuff So how long have you guys been together? The five of us that we have now have been together exactly a year You said now There's been members in and out Right I don't know if you guys have ever had dramas Well, you guys are family, so She's referring to Santoro No, we have like They're all brothers, I think, right? Cousins and brothers We're all brothers and sisters and everything Have you seen them? No, not yet Do you think they're all related? Yeah They all got the long hair It's the Mexican blood Yeah Seriously My sister's in my band and we don't look related Oh, she's your sister? She sings backup vocals Oh, okay Yeah But yeah, we've been together a year But we've been playing a lot of music Playing with PG Keen probably like five years now You were telling me that you play at the Satellite How was that? Yeah, that was a lot of fun They literally asked us two days before the show We can't do too much promotion with that There's something I've noticed lately about the Satellite It's that they run out of bands Or bands are flaking Yeah, last minute Yeah, it's like Flakes LA is flaky Yeah, well Well, you know, that wasn't happening when it was It's the name, dude No, that wasn't happening when it used to be a Spaceland You wouldn't see that Maybe you will see it That's normal You know, on the booking business I'm sure he knows That can happen But at the time I remember Spaceland That wouldn't happen It was also harder to play at Spaceland They wouldn't even respond to our emails Yeah, I guess Spaceland they were more They like They had a pipeline of That it's already been fixed In a way that Certain labels are gonna be like that They're gonna go through Not big labels I'm talking about like really Indie labels Yeah, yeah That, you know They would just go Especially You had to know someone to play there Booking agents that they have A pretty cool roster, I guess And then, you know, like They want a band From LA But anyways They have really good sound there Yeah Sound system, I'm not gonna lie Is like one of my favorites now Super cool How was the sound guy there? Was he nice? Yeah He was nice He actually like We were Our stuff was too complicated But I mean, all we have is like keyboards You know, guitar, bass But He acted like we were taking too long to set up Which I highly doubt We were taking that long But Yeah, he was really nice And the sound I could actually hear my vocals In the monitors Which is really rare When you can hear yourself singing and stuff Yeah, that matters I mean, you're a writer So You wanna hear everything Yeah And I like to Sing, you know We have a lot of harmonies And if I can't hear The other singers Then I can't hear them Yeah I feel like I'm just yelling You do Solo acts Or you wanna be in a band? No, yeah You do acoustics and solos? We do acoustic shows But Definitely I don't wanna be a solo artist For sure I love being in a band Yeah Okay It's Why? I don't want it to be like The Danielle show Like the D D Clement Project I don't want that You don't wanna be like Adele? I'm definitely not a diva like Adele Yeah, I can't sing like that Yeah But No, I love I love Glenn He like He made our EP He produced it Who? Glenn, right here Mr. 13 No way What's up, dude? He's been so quiet all this time He's the quiet one, yeah I listen He listens a lot But yeah, he made it And it's like my favorite EP That we have so far And we did it ourselves So it was a lot of fun Who's from Mission Viejo? I was Yeah I'm from there Oh, you're the only one? My sister still lives there With my parents And I I live in San Juan Nice Silver Lake You guys own a golf course over there? There are lots of golf courses And country clubs No I was born in like Santa Ana And then we moved to Mission Viejo But I live in Silver Lake And I love Silver Lake so much It's more like my scene Mission Viejo is so boring And so Such a Yeah, if you're If you're doing music Maybe once you like Play so well You can move back to Mission Viejo Right? Yeah, go back to the OC once I Build your own studio in there Seriously But like Ladera Ranch All those like Real Housewives Whatever That BS is all over there Yeah Don't like Fucker Moms and all that Plenty of those Yeah He still lives in the OC But in Westminster Oh, Westminster He does Yep Private community Sure Not really Not really? No Would you call it private community? It's not I live in Specifically Garden Grove Or Garbage Grove You call it that Yeah Garbage Grove Oh, man Anyways Silver Lake is very nice Yeah Very nice town Right, guys? Well, they're like Go back to your country I'm like, what? What? All right All right But anyways So we have another song from you, right? We got like a couple songs We got Honey Pie Yeah, that one's totally different It's lovey-dovey And it's kind of cute And my sister sings on that one You what? I'm just a little frustrated On how your life turned out What a shame, what a pity I'm drowning in this city I can't figure it out No I was hoping You could tell me What I'm doing here I am falling Through this city's cracks And I don't know if I can find my way back I'm drowning in this city It's so cold and lonely I feel like I'm the only one Who feels so lost What am I supposed to do now? I can't afford to follow the crowd Can't cover the cost No I was hoping You could tell me What I'm doing here I am falling Through this city's cracks And I don't know if I can find my way back I can't cover the cost I was hoping You could tell me What I'm doing here I am falling Through this city's cracks And I don't know if I can find my way back But I found my way, found my way, found my way. Found my way, found my way, found my way. I was hoping you could tell me what I'm doing here. I'm falling. And I don't know. And I don't know. And I don't know if I can find my way back. I'm falling. And we're back here at Pina Tower. That was Peachy Cane. We played three songs in a row. Yeah, that was awesome. So we played, uh, Honey Pie. And then we played... Violet. Cut Me a Break. Mm-hmm, and Violet. And Violet. Yeah, that was the first song. And Jaded. Yeah. Yeah, that was pretty cool. I'm sure you got a lot of songs to play. Yeah. to play. This is the four songs you like the most? This is from our newest EP When We Collide. Nice. So these are like probably the first four songs on the EP. Right. So we just picked them and played them for you guys. Probably the best ones too. What are you guys' plans for the band? What are you guys looking at to do later? Probably record. I'm trying to figure out we're demoing new songs right now. So after we're done with that we're going to record. You just want to release all this independently, right? Yeah. I mean that's what we've been doing. Everything is like do-it-yourself nowadays. Yeah. Even our t-shirts we've tried screen printing ourselves and like my sister designs everything so she sketches everything out. Well you know what? If you want success you got to do it yourself. Yeah, seriously. I mean most of those other you know the big companies whatever you know that's how they all started. Yeah, yeah. If you want to be like in charge in command and if you're like one of those freaks that you want everything to go like your way Yeah. You know you just got to do it. Yeah, seriously. Yeah. True. If you want things to go the way we want it to go we got to do it ourselves. All of you guys have regular jobs? Yeah. No one's got a 9 to 5 in this band. No? That's for sure, yeah. I definitely that's not for me. I've been a barista for like 4 years. Oh, okay. I make coffee and I work at a cafe. I work at Guitar Center in Orange. Discount. All right. So I can show up My bassist works at Sam Ash too. Can I show up there and get the employee discounts at you know? Yeah. A couple drums and stuff. I see what I can do. Look at this guy. I see what I can do. Talk to Glenn he'll get you something half off. Yeah. And then our keyboardist Kim Ward she's a piano teacher. She's just her own boss and she does that for a living. It's pretty awesome. Oh. That's good. I'm not good enough as a guitarist to like give lessons to kids and take their money. I would feel bad. You don't feel like teaching? No. No way. I'm not good. Yeah, I like to teach people. Yeah? Yeah. What would you teach? I can say it on the air. I teach really dark matter. Dark. Beach. I'm a Chico Chino. Yeah. How about you? Don't tell those white holes. So I want to thank you for coming down. I know you guys having a show tonight. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What does the bar with, you see this picture everywhere, taking pictures. Yes, the jail. The mug shot. The mug shot, exactly. The mug shot, there you go. That's very popular, man. I got many of those. Yeah, every time it was like, I'll bait you. We want to look into those pictures. They're like, what are the quitos? I got to find out. I took one. People thought I was in jail. What? Everybody wants to look like they're in jail. It's awesome. Everyone's looking bad. I'm going to take a piñata and just hang there. You should do it, man. You should. Should I do it, guys? Yeah, let's do it tonight. Yeah. After the show. But it has to be a really silly piñata, like a princess, Disney princess. Like a sponge princess. Like Dora, Dora the Explorer. Yeah, right? I'll put a dildo in there in between. You just took it to the next level, man. She told me to make it crazy. That's how I think. Dildo. All right, so we're going to play San Francisco, and I want to thank you guys for coming down tonight. Wish you a lot of success. Then you got my blessings, and I approve this message. Thank you. Thank you. Santora's getting... What are you guys doing here? Whiskey and Coke. You're drinking Coca-Cola. Okay, right. Coca-Cola. Quiero cena, gasolina. What is this? Oh, it's Coke. Oh, shit. Coke and jet fuel. Petrolio, man. Coke and jet fuel. Oh, Petrolio. Damn, it says 76 gas station here. Hardcore. Don't smoke. 79. 79, huh? AMPM. Cheaper. Cheaper gas. If you drive a Honda or Toyota, that's the perfect, you know, AMPM. You know that? There's some cheap gas out there, really. Where, man? You tell me. You tell me. Fuck. It's a steady job, but he wants to be a paperback writer. Paperback writer. Paperback writer. It's a thousand pages, can you take a few? I'll be writing more in a week or two. I could make it longer if you like the style. I could change it round and I want to be a paperback writer. Paperback writer. If you really like it, you can have the rights. I could make a million for you overnight. If you must return it, you can send it here. But I need a break and I want to be a paperback writer. Paperback writer. Paperback writer. Paperback writer. Hey, look right back, right in front. Now the moment you've all been waiting for. It's a world famous Jack Rabbit Slims twist contest. Alex made our first contestants here this evening. Young lady, what is your name? Mrs. Mia Wallace. And how about your fella here? Lose it, Lose it, Lose it. All right, let's see what you can do. Take it away. It was a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well. You could see that Pierre did truly love the mademoiselle. And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. They furnished off an apartment with a two-room Roebuck sale. The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale. But when Pierre found work, the little money coming worked out well. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. They had a high-five phone, oh boy, did they let it blast. Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz. But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. They bought a souped-up Chitney, was a cherry red 53. Drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary. It was there where Pierre was wedded to the lovely mademoiselle. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. They had a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well. They had a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well. You could see that Pierre did truly love the mademoiselle. And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell. C'est la vie, c'est la vie. The old folks, it goes to show you never can tell. And we're back here at Piñata Hour. Yeah! It's Piñata Hour here, time. You know why? Who just dropped by here into the studios here at SkidRoadStudios.com. We got Charlene. Hey, Charlene. She's just saying hi. Hola. Hey. Hola, Clara. You guys like the skirt? She's wearing a pretty cool skirt. Look at it. Yeah. Are you guys tripping on that or what? Whenever you want to talk about STDs, if anyone has questions, over here at Condoms. We have a show about it. We have a show about it. We have a show about STDs, right? It's called The Love Boy. They're always talking about sex and vaginas. Vaginas, fisting, whatnot. Okay. A lot of people- It's a good conversation. Wear condoms. I know you're in a band. I wear five condoms every night. I do all the time. Eight. I'm wearing one right now. What? You never know, huh? I'm always ready, man. You might trip and fall into one. Yeah, you could tell that. Hey, I just want to say that- Yeah. I got a message here. Your friend, Natalie Bonilla. Yeah. Is she a big fan of you guys? Good friend of us. Yeah? Yeah. Any of you guys born her? No. No. No? No. She's a great person. I love her. That's what they say. Professional. Professional. That's what they say. She's a really nice girl. She's really nice. Beautiful. Gentleman doesn't have a- Summertime comes. Memory. Memory. And it's, you know, woman is the best thing that we can, men can have, you know? Women? Yeah. Can live with them, can live without them. Professional. Professional. Professional. So we have, everybody, we have the whole band here. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Because I also, you know, I invite bands to come down here and maybe two or three show up because the other ones are whatever. But you guys, all of you guys show up. That's pretty cool. We got the drummer here. Yeah. Michael. Michael. All right. Pretty cool drummer. We have Adolfo, Joseph, Carlos, Diego, Gio, Tony. Yeah. Everybody's here. Seven of us. Seven of us. So we also have a few callers trying to call the show, but I just want to let you know that go ahead and call. The number is 1-800-893-9562. That's my mom, dude. That's your mom? That's my mom. Yeah. Probably. And my aunt's from Mexico. So I just wanted you to know, you can go ahead and call right now if you're listening to the show right now, Pina Tower. So we're back here with Santoros. Did you guys like the Frank Le Paul set that we just played? We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. We loved it. Yeah, it was amazing. Yeah. We've known that guy since, like, 2007. My brother was 16. Yeah, yeah, that's what you guys were saying. Mm-hmm. I used to have my fake ID and go to his events, dude. Yeah, I think I was, like, 16 or, like, almost 17 when I used to go to his club and use, like, listen to his music and dance like a crazy motherfucker. Right. No house parties, just clubs, huh? Right. And when you were 16, we missed that part. You were 15, Carlos. Yeah, I was 15. We were 15. Yeah, I was 15. You were 15, Carlos. Yeah, I was 15. We were 15. Hey, how did you all, how did you all, what do you guys met? I think most of us, we met in high school. Like, I met Carlos, the guitar player, Diego, the keyboard player, Joseph, the keyboard, I mean, the singer, my brother Tony, since I was born, and then Adolfo in high school, and Michael, through his brother. And yeah, we all met. He was in high school, his brother Michael. Yeah. Okay. Listen, guys, we have a caller coming in right now. All right. This is Natalie. Yo, what's up? What's up? Natalie. Yo, what's up, brother? Thanks, Natalie. We love you, honey. We love you, too, man. LA loves you, man. Oh, thanks, Natalie. Natalie, thanks for always supporting our shows and doing everything for us. Join us later. They're the coolest Mexican band ever. I know. Yeah, dude. Yeah. You guys are awesome, man. Like, just let me know where I can get my hands on one of those EPs, man. I totally want one. Yeah, you know what? We're going to put their music pretty soon, but go ahead. Go ahead, Tony. Well, we're going to release the album next month, and we're really happy to, you know, like, put it out. We're really excited about it because we have a lot of people working on it. Like, you know, Orlando Torres, he's the one that produced it and recorded everything. And then we also have Megan Boy doing the art for the album, so. We're so fucking happy about it. But next month, for sure, March, we don't want to tell you guys, but we're going to do it. We're going to do it. We're going to surprise the date because it's going to be a surprise and it's going to be a big, big party. We're going to have a really, one of our really good close friends. Are you going to release it before the year 2013? No. It's been taking forever, right? No, we're just waiting for the right moment. That's what it is. For the right moment and also, you know, for the right people, you know, to be there and, you know. And it seems right, next month or this month. For sure. We don't know, but Natalie, you're going to have one of the copies before we release it because you always, you're always being there. I mean, dude, you know, I just want to let you guys know that, like, I really appreciate, you know, the way you guys, like, you know, treat all your fans and, like, the people around that come out and support your shows. Like, that's very uncommon in, like, a lot of bands that are, like, doing, you know, big things now because they think they've made it and stuff. But people remember, you know, people know, like, you know, You know when people are going to find out they made it? When they play here, they come here to the piñata. Yeah. Whoa! Woo! Right, my fucker! Right! We're trying to put on a trend for a nicer band, you know? You guys are doing great and I fully support you guys all the way. I have your back over here in Orange County for sure. So, you know. There you go, homegirl. Yeah. If we're in trouble over there in the OC. What? Oh, yeah. There's a story about you guys about playing at the, you know what? I played at the club before. What place was this? What's it called? What was it? Second Street or something? Don't be afraid. Come on. I don't even want to say the name of it. Okay, what happened? I don't even want to say the name because it's like fucking like advertising for them, you know? You said it. You're very lucky. I know it's the proof bar. Yeah, dude. Fucking okay. I don't know. Like, I love fucking, you know, I love America. We're not from here. We're from Mexico and every place that we go with, like people always show love and they always like support, you know, our band and the thing is like going there and, you know, like the way that they treat, like, you know, like us because it's not just one or two people. It's everybody. All of you guys are from Mexico? No, no. Most of them. Except for Joseph. Because you look so from the Philippines. That's Joseph, dude. Actually, Joseph and Carlos, they're from this country, dude, but their family is from Ensenada, Mexico. No le hace. Yeah, no, dude. Yeah, but I'm... Oh, Chile. But most of us, like, we're from Mexico City and, yeah, like, we just came to this country, you know, to look for a better opportunity and we all made it on high school and... We just came down here to party. That's all you do. Oh, yeah. A little bit, a little bit. Poco. Yeah, but, yeah, I mean, that OC, we love it. We love everybody there. You know, we don't love... Yeah, a lot of great bands. We don't love exactly... Well, I mean, there's a weird thing about, like, you know, Orange County. They seem to be a little bit, like, strict, you know? And I heard this story, like, the homie Peter, you know, told me this story. He's like, yeah, when we played, we were trying to play a show and, like, they didn't let, like, the Santosos in Matricula. And I was like, dude, that's totally, like, you know, that sucks, but it does kind of get... Dude, if you have Matricula, you can get anywhere. Anywhere. You can get insurance. You can get your SR-22s. No, the thing is, like, it's... I was 20 by that time, dude. No, but the thing is, it's just fucking ridiculous here, you know? Like, it doesn't matter where you come from. Like, you know, like, if you're one or two people, like, everyone in this country come here for a fucking dream. You know, like, for us to go to OC and, like, you know, treat all of our members, that way, it's kind of, like, unfair, but at the same time, just make me see, like, you know, like... Another side, right? You know? Makes you look at it different, right? Different way. But at the same time, like, I never... Like, I love America and I love this country and I love fucking L.A. and I love any city, you know, and I love the people, but at the same time, it's just people that have those rules or those laws or whatever, it's just bullshit and it's, like, it's... Yeah. Frustrate people. It's just frustrating. You know what I mean? I know they get, like, unhappy and mad about, like, you know, when immigrants come to this country and be more successful than actually the people that was born in here and been here for fucking more than fucking 80 years, but at the same time, it's like there's nothing to be ashamed of or there's nothing to be, like, you know, like, unhappy about it. It's just be fucking proud of where you come from and who you are, you know? Yeah. And I think Santoro says, like, you know, like, one of the bands in L.A. that is, like, we're all Mexican, we're proud to be from there. It doesn't matter how you came to this country or it doesn't matter how you are legally or not legally right now, but at the same time, it's just to be successful. And I think most of the people that I had met in my school and even right now, they've been more successful than the people that was born here or the people that was being here for more than fucking 200 years. Yeah. And that's a big burn, you know? But, I mean, whatever, you know? But this is all about music and rock and roll and, you know, being happy. I encourage you guys to, like, give it another shot. I mean, there's a right scene out here. There's a lot of bands that, you know, are being, like, are doing successful things out here. You know, there's, like, labels out here and there's, you know, like, you know, bands that are touring, you know, like, we should give it another shot. Like, I know you guys are, you know, conquering L.A. right now and everything, but eventually, like, both scenes are gonna, like, come together and I think it should be, like, I think you guys should give it another shot and, like, come and, like, do your thing here and, like, show people, like, you know, because no one got to see Santos in Orange County, like, and I think it'd be, like, a big show. You know, I think it'd be, like, a big success. No, definitely. Like, we've been, one of our best friends, Samuel from Topec and the Flea, we've been, like, hanging out and talking a lot and, you know, our plan is just going to the O.C. maybe for, like, after we release the album, like, next month we're gonna go to O.C. and, you know, play a few shows there then go to San Diego. And then... Well, I mean, I can help you out too, dude. I mean, like, my friend Lucas, he has a warehouse and they're doing, like, a show, like, on the 24th, Friday. Hey, Natalie, I'm sorry to cut you off, but we're getting more callers. Maybe you and him can meet up at Starbucks somewhere? Talk about business. What's the name of your website you have? Chocibana or Chocolate Chips? Yeah, Chocibana. It's, uh, yeah, Chocibana. It's C-H-O-C and then space I-V-A-N-A. I just wanted to note that we love you out here in Piñata. There you go. Hey, we love you. We're doing great things. She should come down, man. Yeah, you should come down. Yeah. I will, dude. Love you guys. By the way, dude, Peter, that's my friend from the Hauling Bones and, like, we really love that motherfucker. Like, I think he's Santoro number eight, dude, from this band. Like, he's always with us. He's always playing with us. He's always at our shows, dude. So, I think, like, Peter, dude, is an amazing person from the Hauling Bones. Damn Hauling Bones. Where you go? Blues. Yeah, the blues, man. Fuck a blues, man. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You gotta take that bigger tone. Blues. Hey, you know what? Talking about blues, why don't we play some of your guys' music here? Yeah. Yeah, man. Go ahead. What do we got here? We got My Buddy Jim. What is this song about? My Buddy Jim. My Buddy Jim. It's about, um... Your only white friend? No, no. Actually, like, Jim is a really common name, but I don't know nobody Jim or... Jim Beam? Maybe Jaime, you know, which I guess translates to... We just made a Jim Beam. Yeah. Jimmy Ha. Yeah, yeah. This guy introduced me to Jim Beam. He's one of my good friends. I never remember after I have Jim Beam, but... Sounds like a rape. It could be anything, dude. Slim Jim. You never do it. Every time that you bring that shit, we always get 86 from any club. Yeah. So, go ahead. No, but My Buddy Jim's about, um... You know, a guy who has everything, but, you know, it's about... It's My Buddy Jim, but it's about a girl that he has that he can't live without her, but he can't live with her, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. He has everything. Yeah, he has... You know, he could satisfy himself. You know, it says he has a love machine to relax, you know, because everybody needs to relax, you know? You know. Manuelita. Yeah, but, um... That song, I think it was, like, the second song we actually did. Second song. Yeah, and it was just, like, an improv. All right, so for all our million listeners right now, why don't we just put your music on right now? So, yeah, yeah, so they know what's up with these guys, you know? If it's worth it to listen to Piñata Hour. All right, so this is My Buddy Jim here at Piñata Hour. One, two, one, two, three, four! My Buddy Jim got a little bit pain in his head as well. In his head got a little machine in his eyes got a woman in his eyes got a little machine in his eyes got a little machine in his eyes got a woman in his eyes got a little machine in his eyes got a little machine Got a love machine to be lost Got a woman in your kitchen Say my pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty Got a love machine to be lost Got a woman in your kitchen Say my pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty My pretty, my pretty, my pretty Fuck yeah. Straight up. Yeah. Right? Dude, I wanna do drugs now. Have you seen their videos of these dudes here? They're Santoros. They're new. They're new too. They're all happening. They're all people. Yeah, yeah. Having a good time when they listen to Santoros. Awesome. Okay, so we have, let's do a little bit of an intro here. So here to my left, I have Uriel Jimenez. Yes, sir. We got Tony Jimenez. Adolfo Canales. Adolfo what? Adolfo Canales. All right. Marco Rocha. Marco Rocha. Marco Rocha's a drummer. It's a pretty tight drum, by the way. Joseph Virgen. Are you? Are you? Diego Prieto. You're welcome. Carlos Persichi. All right. Who's the one that writes the songs the most? Carlos. You are? Well, there's three people right here. Yeah, I mean, it's a collaboration about everybody, but, you know, it's basically you bring something and then everybody adds to it, you know? I wanna ask you guys, are you guys always on time to your gigs? No. Are you guys on time when it comes to practice? I have to say that shit. It's like... You know why? Because there's so many of you guys. It's like one, two, three, four. Every time. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, sixteen, twenty-eight. No, it's like, we never, we never, we never play on time, but the time I was late, I was like, oh, yeah, we always play late, right? And they're like, oh, they're barely setting up. No, they already finished, done, you know? So it's, it's, you never know, but you have to always be on time. It's always hard, man. Like, dealing with my friends is like, I know Diego for like nine years, my brother for my whole life. Carlos is my brother's best buddy since high school. I know everybody and like everybody's different like you know every time that I say you know what we're gonna be there at 6.30 like today I say 6.30 dude they showed up at a fucking 8 and they showed up at like 7 or 7.30 but you know what the thing that I like about this band in my first band is that like everyone is like themselves you know like everybody like I don't care like you know if they're drunk or like high or whatever they are I really don't care they're just happy and people love that shit like every time that we play like I'm sober I'm doing fine I can see I'm sober too I'm sober I can tell in your eyes that you just lied but you know the thing is like with Santoro it's like it's about rock and roll and it's about like having a good time having a good time there's no rules even every song that you know like it's been written like Carlos is like he comes he's like I have this song right now like what do you guys think and then my brother Adolfo Diego Michael Joseph everybody adds to it and it's like it's just about like you know like life experiences that we have with lovers or partners that we have before or like you know just even having a good time like the way that we started the band like you know like it was like about the son and sisters and it's like part of like an animal and it's it's just talk about our essence that it's just like don't give a fuck about anything and just being ourselves and just being real you know like even before we came here I was like fuck should I ask like what questions they're gonna ask or should I say something but then I'm like you know what fuck it fuck it just go with it you know what the name of the show it's a piñata I mean you look at it from the outside it's like it looks pretty good it looks decent right colorful weird we don't know we have to beat the shit out of it to see what's going on inside Santeros is colorful man it's like there's like white brown Asian costeño chilango you know what for the listeners who don't know Santeros okay and maybe some of you guys know but he's talking about the Asian boy right here he's not Asian he's the you're the singer right the milkman was Asian actually I think he was Korean or something no no it wasn't the milkman it was the guy that delivered the Los Angeles time oh yeah or the clasificados don't you recall or the one that goes by the neighborhood collecting all the metal it's like you know every Friday it's like collecting metal if you have any old it's the old man old man yeah there we go and by the way you know what he was the last member in the band but we all think that he was a really right successful man in music great addition to the band you know he was the last part but the best part and like for so many months I ask myself I'm like what about this guy you know what about this guy he has a long hair no dude it's not just like long hair it's just like I have an issue with his fucking hair but the thing he loves it too much no he loves it too much but the thing is that he's fucking amazing and people ask me like what about this guy and every time that I see him he's in his own world like I'm like Joseph what's up we have a meeting and Joseph is like walking around like facing out and I'm like I love this guy you know because he's just he's just crazy you know and he's I don't know crazy is good I don't know it depends what kind of crazy I'm crazy well we're all people you know what the thing is in LA people they all think that we're crazy and maybe we are but in a good way and I think people like that shit and people like that we perform yeah you're weird if you're normal yeah exactly exactly what's going on you know what you guys played for one of my shows here at La Cita La Cita and after you guys played and everything the night was done I was like these guys are fucking weird yeah you know what because everyone expected about Mexicans you know where they had the tequila like tell me okay I do it you know why is there a Mexicana is he just a musician at all no no no you know what most of the musicians that I think of rocker rocker with long hair you know everyone in LA not in LA in the states they think about the Mexicana the tequila they had I'm gonna sit down next to the cactus and you know what maybe you know it's like it's like it's like Speedy Gonzalez thing and the thing is you know it's like Stereotype. Stereotype. And the thing is, like, if you're going to be the kind of guys that fuck you, you know, like, we're here to make music and be different than anybody else. And that's what Santoro says. That is like, you know, we're here to make rock and roll music, make people have fun, you know, like, get drunk, do some drugs, and then go home, fuck your girlfriend, and then, you know, fuck it. Rock and roll, man. It's like, he does it on a Monday. This show is like Univision on THC. You know, it's like some of our people, they're like, hey, how come you guys are Mexicans and you don't sing any songs in Spanish? You do, right? You guys do. We're working on some songs right now. Yeah, we're working on some. But it's whatever comes out naturally, you know. You can't be like, oh, since we're all Mexicans, we all have to sing in Spanish, you know. But if it doesn't come out naturally, it's just going to sound funky, you know. You know, the funny part is, like, there's a few people that want to work with us and make a few videos. And they work with Mexican bands. And then they're like, Tony, like, Diego, like, how can you guys not save, like, you know, Mexican rock or Spanish rock and roll? But at the same time, it's like, you know, Santoro's is just what it is. Like, we never, when we formed the band. I mean, just because you're Latino or Mexican doesn't mean you have to fucking sing in Spanish. Yeah. Or because you have an accent. The thing is, like, you know, like, when we formed, when we made this band, we never said, like, oh, we're going to sound like this, or we're going to make this sound. We just went with it. Yeah. Like, we never said, like, okay, we're going to. We're going to try to be, like, the fucking psycho. So we're going to be, like, the Rolling Stones or, like, how people call us in LA, like, the Mexican Strokes. Like, we never say anything like that. We just say, you know what? We're going in the studio, make music, and fuck it, you know? Fuck it. Everybody's going to have an opinion about you regardless, you know? We're going to play a little bit more of Santoro's. Yeah. How about that? Yeah. What about that? Let's talk about Speak With Animals. We're going to play Katarini. Yeah? Yeah. She's Mexican, too, by the way. Oh, yeah? Yeah. I think we're all Mexican now, dude. Yeah. Yeah. LA is 95.9 Mexican. I don't know about the guy in the middle. But, yeah. I think he's from Guadalajara. All right. All right. So let's play Speak With Animals. And right after that, we're going to play If You Want To Be My Girl. Woo! Yeah. If You Want To Be My Girl. All right. So this is Santoro's here at Piñata, our exclusive. Y menes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Sometimes I wish that I wouldn't think about her pretty face, but I do. Yes, I do. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. Sometimes I walk down the street by myself and I think about her pretty eyes and her pretty, pretty head, too. Yes, I do. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. I don't know why I still love you. And it makes me really, really mad. But I guess I still love you. I gotta still love her, so. And I do. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't love me anymore. But I do. That was insane. That was really nice. Thank you. So are you guys going to release this on digital download CDs or? Yeah, everything's on record. Everything. I mean, we've been talking about it, the whole band. And I think we're going to do like, you know, some vinyls for, you know, for the fans that we always see there. And then we're going to make some CDs. And of course, we're going to put it on the Internet. But, you know, like. However you could get it. Yeah, however you can get it, you know, for free, whatever, however. Yeah. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. It's for you. The thing is, you know, the reason why we make music is for the people that come to our shows. You know, we want to see them happy. And, you know, like Carlos, you know, he's the man right here. Yeah, we just want to get the music out, you know. It's not about how you get it. It's just listen to it. And, you know, it just tells what you think. That's one of the most important things. Because, you know, on shows, like, oh, you guys sound really good. Or this song I really like. And we try to play all the songs, you know. But we have so many. So many. We're going to fucking release this album next month. And then we're going to. We're going to go back to the studio. Back to the studio right away. Record the tracks. And then from there we're going to, like. Because the thing is, like, before Santoro's came out, we had, like, we made so many songs. That, you know, they're all fucking good. Yeah. We're just waiting for the right moment to, like, you know, bring them to the crowd. And the only song that they hear at the shows is only the beginning of Santoro's, like. You were just fucking ready for it. And, you know, whatever we made or whatever we're making right now is for you guys. Because the people that come to our shows, like, every single person is beautiful, man. Feel good now. Feel good. We really appreciate it. You know, it's like you say, you know, like, when you really care about the crowd and the people who came to your shows. Yeah. That's the most amazing thing that you can do. Because when you play in a band and then you become a little bit bigger and then you always forget about, like. People, dude, I don't think it's a good thing, you know? It's not a good thing. It's not nice. I think it's a best thing when you just keep playing music and be like, you know what? We're still the same people. I didn't forget about you guys. Just so you know. We didn't forget about you guys. No, we're seven. So whenever somebody gets, like, big, be like, hey, man. Shut the fuck up. Yeah, shut the fuck up and stop being a dick, you know? I remember you telling me about, I don't know if it was your brother here with the suspenders on. But about Santoro's. What? The meaning? It was a son. No, the thing, the meaning of the whole band is like. Oh, you know? Diego is the one who played the name of the band. Diego is the one behind his name. Yeah, Diego. All right, go ahead, man. Do your thing, man. Don't get shy, Diego. I know your girlfriend listens to you, but don't get shy, dude. Yeah, say it in Korean. You can say it in Korean. Spanish? Spanish, yeah, yeah, man. Santoro's. It's a combination of the negative with the positive. The aggression with the pacific. It's like saying the yin and the yang, you know? No, it's this. Santo is an example that is an angel. Toro is someone for me like something strong, aggressive. In a few words, it's like saying if you're good with us, we're good with you. But if you're a dick, we can be aggressive. I put my finger in. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Translation. Te coge el toro, wey. Exactly, yeah. Don't be a matador. No, I just know people say, hey, like any people, like any person, you know, came to us. And they're like, hey, what does Santoro's mean? And I'm like, okay, I just want to say it this way, you know. Santoro's is like a part of two different things. It's like sand, like sand, Toro's. Like bulls. So we pull that name together because it's like we can become a good guy. I get it. And also we can become an asshole. So it's like if someone are cool with us, we're cool with that people. But if someone try to be an asshole with us, we just like, you know what? It's just like the Woon Tong Clan. Yeah. You know, but the thing is that we've been in LA for like eight years. There's like seven of them, right? Also, there's seven of them. If you mess with them, they're going to throw you some kung fu, you know, some kung fu. Kung fu rap battles. No, no. Actually, there's six now. Old Dirty Bastard died. Oh, yeah. He died. He's rest in peace. He died on the... Yeah, it's been some years. He was pregnant or something like that. He's a crazy fool, man. Cashing his welfare checks, going with the limo. Yeah. Driving with the limo. Otra vez, mira, mira. He's drinking my leg. I got you in camera, right? Your leg. Oh, shit, man. I'm sorry about that, dude. But yeah, you know, that's what it is. Like Santoro's. Santoro's people, like, you know, a lot of people love us in LA. A lot of people hate us. Yeah, yeah. But you know what? It's about music. It's about being respectful and make people happy. Love and hate. Love and hate. It's the same. Yeah, it's the same. And any kind of feeling that we get is welcome. It's like, come over here. We love you guys. Like Daniel Fierro. Daniel Fierro. No, Daniel Fierro, dude. Dude, he's a fucking amazing photographer, man. We'll see when we see it. No, no, dude. We'll see when we see it. Okay, but I'm going to tell you this. We saw it. All of us, we cried with the pictures. We're like, oh, man. This fucking guy. This guy. Do you know which side I can look at it right now? I want to cry, too. No, dude. Danny, he took some pictures for us at the art walk. And we're like, you know what? This guy is amazing. He is going to be the personal photographer for Santoro's. You know what? Just Google your name and see if you want. In memory of Daniel. Exactly. You're going to get drunk tonight. You're getting down tonight. Hey, listen. I want to think. Thank you guys for coming down here to the Pinata. Thank you, man. You know, coming down here. That was super cool. Where did Tony go? Take a leak? Okay, that's cool. I was going to the bathroom. No, go ahead, dude. Do your thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't. You don't need permission. The album is coming out next month. If you guys want to know more about the band, you guys can go to facebook.com dash Santoro's Echo Park. We love you. We're always drunk. You guys know us. Fuck it. Fuck it. You know? Whatever. We don't care what people say, but you know what? We love you, and I hope to see you guys in the 25th with Blue Jungle, Black Bender, Legos, Legos, Moondog, Moondog Orchestra, and the purely bands that we love. We love you guys. I'm sorry. That's my brother. You know, he's always fucked up, and like, you never... No, I understand. I remember shit, but I love my brother, you know? I know. I know what you mean. If it's not him, it's someone else. My dad is crazy, too. Well, my dad is not crazy. My dad is an amazing guy, you know? My dad used to be crazy, but now he became... Crazy Mexican dads. No, you know, my dad became... At age 15, they wanted to say, here, take a tequila. You know what? When Tony was born, my dad was 15, and my mom was 14. No way. Really? Yeah, yeah. And then now my dad... That was the early version of... And my mom became a Christian family, and they're amazing, and I love Tony, but I love more my dad. Do all of you guys look healthy? No, dude. We're not healthy. You know, if we were healthy, I'm saying you guys look healthy. I'm 22 right now. I'm going to be 23 next... I mean, this month. And I look like fucking 28. I know how you feel. I know how you feel, man. I'm 25. And you look fucking 35, you know? Yeah, yeah. It's like, we're on the same page, we're on the same page, you know? And it's just like, I don't care if people... I'm 28. You're 28. 25. Don't lie, dude. You're 28. Why are you lying? 25. You say 45? Listen, I want to thank you guys for coming down to Piña Tower. We got a few minutes left, and we're going to have Frank Lopo playing a little DJ set. He's going to be tonight at the Echoes. Yeah, with Mucho Musica. And also, we have Las Cafeteras playing there. They were here not too long ago. It was a great band. And I just want to say thanks to my family who's listening to us online right now. My family, like Moreno Jimenez and Jimenez Flores. And I want to say... Casa Jimenez. Casa Jimenez. hi to my mom, Mercedes, and to my dad. He's from Mexico right now. And... and thanks for everybody. Woo! Yeah, thank you guys. I want to thank... I want to thank Eric Estrada for being in the movie Ships. I want to thank Daniel Fierro for all the pictures that he's been taking us. He's drunk. He's amazing, dude. That guy's amazing, dude. I want to thank Cholo Carwash for coming down and putting up the screen. Yeah. Almost. Y mi elvita. All right, so this is... Ah! His girlfriend, dude. Like, fuck, Diego. Canalla. All right, so... You know what? Before you play your mix, why don't we have him play a little bit of a song? All right. Acoustic. You want to go to the gym? No, let's play Evil Woman. Whatever. Evil Woman.
