And the beat goes on, yeah, let me see that tootsie roll, I feel a whoop coming on! Oh, hot shots, LA, second day of summer, summer vacation still kicking, this past week the OJ Simpson, made me feel old, the OJ Simpson chase, June 17th, 1994, 20 years ago, 20 years ago I just graduated from high school that summer, I remember vividly drinking, watching the NBA finals, Houston, New York, and they just cut me off. I got to this chase, now, it was a different time, even though 1994, a guy like me doesn't think it's that long ago, it's a different world, 20 years ago was a completely different world, no idea, I'd never seen anything like the helicopter chase that we saw with OJ, because out here, since moving to California, you realize that the helicopter chase with vehicles that were just going rogue, that are running from the cops, that's a fairly common thing, they show that shit on the news, K-California. K-Cal 9, feels like once a week, well, growing up in Massachusetts, you had no fucking idea that that stuff was even possible, back then, following the white Bronco, through the streets of, threw up the 5, and the 405, it's really an introduction to reality TV, because nobody at the time knew, everyone thought OJ was going to freaking blow his brains out on the back of the Bronco, the way they made it seem the whole time, it's a trip. It's a trip that a guy like Don L. Dockett can go out and tweet that OJ was freed, he was, he was freed, ridiculous that freaking trial was, I remember watching that trial in college, and a fool like me, who knows nothing about the law, could realize that you don't have OJ put on that freaking old, weathered, shrunken leather glove, that had been sitting in evidence for years, anybody realize that leather shrinks after it gets wet, and after a period of time, where it's probably putting a fricking, who knows where the fuck they put it, but the shit shrinks, and when OJ put that glove on, and looked at the jurors, like, huh, huh, look, and he had a latex glove underneath, any fool could make that look like it didn't fit him, amazing, and that's the one piece of evidence that seemed to get him, get away with everything, even though the DNA evidence was overwhelming, that OJ did do it, it's amazing, a guy like Don L. Dockett tweeting out, oh, OJ, lost half his money, I can't blame him, it's an old Chris Rock joke, fine, but you just can't put that out to the world, I'm sure Agadir will say something about it, as it goes on, 20 years ago, shit, I'd love to have a Ford Bronco like that, by the way, I was reading an article how that Ford Bronco just disappeared, some porn collector, or some porn mogul, I love anybody who makes porn as a porn king, or a porn mogul, ended up buying it, I guess he was outcounted, but he ended up buying it, and who knows where, they don't know where it is right now, piece of Americana, piece of history, 20 fucking years ago, this week, speaking of this week, segues just keep coming, fucking, soccer, I can't watch it, I can't do the World Cup, as much as, as much as I feel like an ugly American for having no patience for this, and I know I'm uncultured, I don't know, I don't drink, I don't drink fine beer. I don't have an appreciation for the finer things like soccer. Oh, it's miserable. You can't watch this shit. Evidently, the U.S. just tied. Something I have no interest in. Tied 2-2 in the pool of death or whatever the hell they're in. All I know is that downtown L.A., they're serving free beer at the Nike, whatever it is, Nike Complex serving free beer to anybody who comes down and watches these games. I swear, it's just about fandom. It's about tribalism. It's about supporting these teams and getting drunk. I mentioned many times before, I hang out at a British pub, and these guys, that's all they fucking do. They just get drunk and peer up at the games once in a while. You know what bad soccer is? It's like golf. Trying to put it on as background noise while you're doing something else. At least with other sports, you get kind of a play-by-play and kind of follow on what's going on, although hockey happens too quick. But at least you can have as background noise. Soccer just crowd mumbles. Same thing with golf. Michelle Wee. I don't even know why I'm giving any time to golf, but Michelle Wee ended up winning the U.S. Open. I thought she fell off the face of the earth. I think an 11-year-old Asian girl playing in the U.S. Open. That's why I refuse to admit that golf is a sport. I think it's just more of an activity like throwing darts or playing pool or throwing horseshoes. It's a skill. Fuck, I don't even care. I'm freaking middle-aged. I could still go out and beat any 11-year-old Asian girl. Any athletic freaking endeavor. Maybe not running the mile, but I don't know. Most 11-year-old girls don't run that fast a mile. They could give me a little bit of training period, but I could never beat her in golf. It's like I probably couldn't outplay her in the piano. To me, it's the same thing. It's just a skill. I can't outthrow people at darts. Guys who are really good at darts are some of the most unathletic people I know. It's a coordination factor, no doubt. It's a coordination factor playing the piano, playing any instrument as well. It's the same type of thing. It's muscle memory and training. It's not like there are other people running at you, counteracting what you do. Enough of that. I'm not here to bash on golf. We're here to talk football, damn it, and not football. Can't have both names. Oh, such a hater. What am I going to do going through? Speaking of haters, Redskins' name thing is getting out of control. I can't stand it. It's now Champ Bailey's even come out and said that Daniel Snyder should go out and do it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. Terry Bradshaw, I'm going to get Terry Bradshaw in a minute. He really freaking rubs me raw. Getting stainless and that guy, but you're forced to listen to him. Those Redskins things is getting out of control. The U.S. Patent Office just dropped the legal trademarks. Washington doesn't have the legal trademark anymore on the name Redskins. So why the name? If you actually watched my program, you would know I should be more of a Redskin than these Indians. They're much more brown. I'm much more red than them. They're taking my name. But these Redskins, it's unreal. It's Kevin Hart. You know, Kevin Hart, of all people, I cannot stand anything Kevin Hart puts down. I think he's annoying as all hell, but he actually had a good point this week because he was a guy named Lemon on CNN comparing the Redskins word to the N word. It's ridiculous. When's anybody ever really used the word Redskin to be, you know, really detrimental to someone? Get out of here, you Redskin. No one uses that word. Daniel Snyder's fighting it to the death. I don't know. Simple thing to me. Reparations. Fuck it. If it's that bad of a deal, I don't know why the, and I've said this before, I don't know why the National Congress of American Indians just doesn't say, yeah, you know, the name offends us, but if you gave us $3 million a year or some kind of ticket tax where every ticket that gets bought by someone going to a Redskin game, $2 goes to the American or National Congress of American Indians, $2 goes to the American or National Congress of American Indians, $2 goes to the American or National Congress of American Indians, throw money at the problem. Is it really that offensive? How many Native Americans wake up every morning and are offended by this name? Especially after the history of the team. It's been around forever. Now, all of a sudden, guys like Harry Reid are that offended. Now, oh, now I'm not going to go to any of the Redskins games because of the name. You kidding me? Just fucking throw a tax on it. Throw some money at them. Reparations. I was watching a guy the other day on Bill Ma. Not to sidetrack, but to sidetrack. Talk about bringing up reparations for black people, which would never go down. People would fight that tooth and nail. But it's true. Blacks were enslaved in this country for over 250 years. They've only been free, quote unquote, for 150. And of that 150, 95 of them were treated as second class, in some places third class citizens. But I guess you just can't throw money at the problem all the time. Still. It helps. And I guess that's why they went out and opened up the casinos. But that's only a few people actually make getting the money off that. Why can't they pinpoint? Why can't the Indian? Fucking hell, use the term Indian. Why can't the Indian community go ahead and say, okay, we need money in these particular areas. If you want to call yourself the Redskins, throw us this money so we can pay for these particular areas. Are they really that offended by it? It's just the. Political correctness of everybody, really. And I don't know why it's become a political issue. Why, you know, left and right. It's really not a left and right issue. It's intent. Are they really trying to belittle Native Americans? Braves on the warpath. Fight for old D.C. I was somewhat of a Redskin fan growing up. It was. You know. I kind of rekindled that fire this week with the NFL Network. I love what the NFL Network does. I'm not getting a lot of you. As much as I love to poke holes in the mothership. I love the NFL Network when they come up with the decade weeks. This particular week was the 80s week. Talk about nostalgia. Talk about really striking a nerve with a fellow like me. That 88 Super Bowl was awesome. I actually watched that 88 Super Bowl this afternoon over watching Portugal. And the USA go to a draw in a game that means nothing to me. I'd rather go back and watch the 88 Super Bowl and watch that. That was a game that really kind of opened your eyes to football. As a fan, as you watch something like that, you go back and watch that game. How Denver just came out and punched him in the face right in the first quarter. Up 10-0. Should have been up more. And that game just turned on the jump. And all of a sudden, the Redskins just flipped the switch and just dominated him. And Timmy Smith just busting the counter tray, which is a play. You don't see anybody running anymore. Which, even though I have some video here, I should probably show it, you know, draw it up. But I'm not going to for, you know, sense of saving time. But all it is, tight end side. Motion the receiver across. Have the receiver block the end. Down, down, down on the front side. Pull the backside guard. Pull the backside tackle. Little jab step by the running back. Lead with the fullback. Which is something a lot of teams don't do. Shit. Nobody runs a fucking play anymore. And they were gouging him. Gouging him. Play action pass. Hit Gary Clark over the top. Ricky Sanders as well. It's an amazing game. It was one of those games, especially early on watching football, that you realize, wow. You're really never out of a game if you have a game plan that you think you can now execute someone. If you can beat somebody up up front, which is what the Redskins did. Ended up taking a victory. Tony Lilly. The classic white boy. Freaking late 80s. I love the sleeves. I love the uniforms back then. You know, guys, you couldn't tell how big or small guys were. Their sleeves went down past their elbows. Couldn't tell how big a guy's arms were. They all kind of looked funny running around. They all looked undersized, even though some of them were giants. Guy, Tony, playing Tony Lilly, playing free safety for the Broncos with a mullet. White boy with a mullet from Florida. Never played a game after that game. Just got abused. Redskins ran, ran, ran. Play action. Threw deep over the top. Caught Denver in man-to-man. And it's amazing how bad the techniques are on some of those guys. Even back, you know, not, shit, I say not that long ago. Fuck, it's almost 30 years ago now. The DBs are standing straight up and down. No, getting no hands on receivers. Run right by them. Throw it deep. Because they're playing man-to-man. Amazing. I love watching those original broadcasts. And how Dan Deardorff and Frank Gifford are talking about the one of the years premiering after the Super Bowl. Frank Gifford talking about Kathy teared up at the end. The one of the years was a great show, though. Should be a network. A fucking 80s network. Enough freaking HDTVs. Enough home improvement networks and shows out there. Enough alien shows. You just have a network that's just fucking. Oh, 80s shit all the time. The commercials should be 80s shit. You can go back to these companies that were around back in the 80s. Hey, let us show these retro commercials and give us some kind of money for it. Throw 80s sports, 80s commercials. You can do that for every decade, really. You know, I'm a pioneer in the television industry. Timmy Smith. That was it. That was the only game he ever had. Ran for over $2,000. He won a job. Should have been the MVP of that game. Although he could have had three MVPs of that game. Never did anything after that. How bad was Elway in that Super Bowl? How bad was Elway in both Super Bowls he played in until he got a second chance a few years later? He kicked us like Al-Hajji Sheikh. I would love to kick him back now, nowadays. I don't think he'd get away with it. I think it would be a PR nightmare if you had a guy named Al-Hajji Sheikh kicking field goals for you. Sounds like a bad WWE. WWE manager. Al-Hajji Sheikh. I'm in back and brain throwing. I love the Cotton the Draft series as well on the NFL Network. Cotton the Draft 1984. Amazing program. That 84 draft was so volatile because they thought the USFL was coming after them. And shit, the USFL was coming after them. They got three Heisman Trophy winners in a row. They got the 84, 85, 86 Heisman Trophy winners. To sign with the USFL. NFL was shitting bricks. I think guys in the USFL knew that they were eventually going to go back to the NFL. But still, it must have been shitting bricks at the time. Doug Flutie. Herschel Walker. Who else was it? Vinny Testaverde? Vinny Testaverde go back? I think he was 87. Steve Young. I don't think Steve Young was a Heisman Trophy winner. But Steve Young signed a $40 million guaranteed contract. With the USFL Nobody could match that back then That was good for the NFL Actually let them Open up their pocketbooks a little bit Irvin Frye ended up being the number one draft choice From the Patriots Not a solid career Patriots said but But that's a number one draft choice A receiver like that He was a tweener too He didn't even caught the ball in the brass He was just an athlete You know in today's day and age Just call him an athlete A guy like Tavon Austin Kind of tweener position Undersized Of course Irvin's awaiting trial For fraud with his mother Had some kind of bank fraud Where they were going Door to door to these different banks And I didn't even know the specifics of it But he's going to jail after a year After I wouldn't say great But a really solid NFL career Yeah I would say great NFL career The preacher for a few years And ended up You know Committing re-examination Of the state fraud with his mother The natural career progression Number one draft pick overall Of course in that 84 draft They love to focus on Boomer Esiason Boomer Esiason was the classic 80s athlete Feathered hair Feathered blonde hair Bad cheesy mustache Messed shirt Short shorts Gotta love Boomer for that And then Held him in that green room For what two rounds Cincinnati had two first round picks Before they even picked Boomer Esiason Back when Paul Brown was running it Running the show We had Ricky Hundley Who never even played a game for him Because they couldn't sign contracts Back then They love to talk about Free market I'm sure almost every NFL owner is a free marketeer Republican But when there's actually a free market involved They go nuts There's no free market involved with these Leagues You cannot talk about Taking risk When you have these types of protections That these owners have And then USFL actually Provided some competition To drive things up And they freaking had a shit fit They had a fit when When teams were actually outbidding them The guy like Boomer Esiason Ends up going to the second round Funny to watch Reggie White going to USFL All those guys Yeah Wilbur Marshall going to the Bears At pick 11 Because they were afraid To sign Wilbur Marshall Because they thought he was going to be He was going to get into a bidding war With the USFL They say Back then They say Wilbur Marshall was the best player In the 1984 draft Offensively Wilbur Marshall was a stud Should be in the Hall of Fame Not one member of that 1984 draft class Is actually in the Hall of Fame Which is something You got the number one pick Being Irvin Fryer From Nebraska And nobody else is going to be in the Hall of Fame The number two pick Being Dean Steinkuhler From Nebraska as well The 1940 draft was great You got Mel Kiper making his ESPN debut Looks like he's about 15 years old Back then everybody had no idea What to take of Mel Kiper Now he's like the Grand Poobah of everything They had Phil Simms And the New York Giants Watching the draft from a bar room Which is classic Never see something like that anymore They have a toast At one of the commercial breaks From the 1984 draft They have some floozy I'll say it Some ESPN floozy Interviewing And all the members of the Giants Have a give a toast in the bar It's great I love that innocence But not really The subversance I don't even know if that's a word I think I made that up Back at that time And wrapped up in a kind of Just a naivete Of just having no idea What was going on Not even giving a fuck Just getting hammered And watching the draft The Giants When they went out And got Kyle Banks That particular year As well In typical 80s fashion The third pick of the draft Was great Pete Rozelle Just kind of saunters up there And all these guys Are smoking butts Hanging out For the third pick Of the NFL draft You just hear some fool From the background yell Hakeem Olajuwon You just don't get that nowadays They did it all one day It took 18 hours To complete this draft 18 hours To just go through The whole thing I can kind of see why Now the way they break it up Over three days Shouldn't be that long though Because they had no time limit In between pick Just let it go Other big names Being thrown out in that draft Ronnie Rivera Analytical Ron Riverboat Gambler Ron From Cal Going to the Bears And giving the Bears That defense That would go on To win a Super Bowl And should have won Multiple Super Bowls They really underachieved Underachieved Super Bowl was Just Just You know I don't know Jeff Hostetler 59th overall Keith Millard Who Pete Wiesel Called Keith Millard Oh Billy Cannon Jr. Billy's dad of course Billy Canyon Billy Cannon Rather Number one pick overall In the 1960 draft Billy Jr. Cowboys first round draft pick Isn't that guy They never even Brain up At Texas A&M Hurt himself At a preseason game Or like One of the first games In the NBA Heard his back Never played again Spinal injury Was it Done Never played Football again Could walk Thankfully Ended up walking it off I wonder what those guys How much money they What happens to guys like that You know they talk about All this collective bargaining And whatnot What happens to a guy Like Billy Cannon Jr. Who would have been a player Nothing Probably walks away Never gets anything Never gets anything Probably spittance From back then Those are the types of guys That need to be compensated Jay Schrader 1980 quarterback Picked in 1984 Because he played in the Blue Jays organization Jay Schrader actually had A halfway decent career A pro bowler Was a pro bowler The year before The aforementioned Redskins team I just talked about He was a pro bowler The year before And Doug Williams Ended up going in Because Schrader got hurt That year Doug Williams was even that great I think Joe Gibbs Was that good of a coach I think Richie Pettibone Offensive line coach I think they were that well orchestrated And nobody runs those plays anymore For some reason They think those plays got Identified Now you can't run them anymore Michael Carter from SMU Silver How about this year 1984 Silver medal in the Olympics In Shotport Super Bowl champion In 1984 as well I think they were that well orchestrated I think they were that well orchestrated You just don't see that stuff Happening anymore Of course they had a supplemental draft too And it's how laid back it was Pete Rosell Yeah we're going to have A supplemental draft I don't know I think it's going to be around June And what they did was They were smart They went out And they drafted all the guys That were already in the USFL That would never fly nowadays Too many lawyers would Be in the way They went out and drafted All these guys in the USFL So of course Who had the number one pick Because they kept screwing things up In the 80s Tampa Bay Took Steve Young Houston took Mike Rozier Number two Here's one you never really hear about Gary Zimmerman The offensive lineman Substantial career With the Broncos Was taken number three By the Giants Let Reggie White Just slip by Imagine that Reggie White And Lawrence Taylor On the same defense Two of the most Dominating players In the NFL history And two of the most Polar opposite personalities I wonder if Lawrence Would have came to Jesus Or if Lawrence Would have corrupted Reggie White Love it Love watching that 80s stuff Love watching all that NFL Network stuff While I'm not working NFL Network and Netflix There's only two things I watch anymore I ended up watching The Enron documentary Finally And the Elliot Spitzer Client 9 documentary I digress But they're both Worth watching Three sets of teammates To go number one and two overall First ones ever to do it Bubba Smith Michigan State Number one 1967 Second pick Clinton Jones Number two Second time to happen The aforementioned 84 draft Irvin Fryer Number one Dean Steinkuhler Number two Third time it happened The Nittany Lions Courtney Brown Number one Levi Arrington Number two And the Enron documentary Same type of thing We almost thought We were going to have it A few years back With the USC With Reggie Bush And Matt Lynette But obviously That didn't go down And who was taking Number one that year? Mario Williams Number three Vince Young Just retired Shit I knew I was trying To get to a segue somehow Vince Young Retired Officially Hunt him up this week Vince Young feels like a boss But fuck he was a two time Pro bowler Shit what else Do you want from the guy? You know there's a lot of guys That get drafted Who are never playing The pro ball Vince Young was just Never used correctly He wasn't used like The icon Michael Vick Michael Vick would just Shut his mouth at this point And just keep playing ball He's a grown fucking man Who spent time in jail Does it really need to be out there Saying that he's the prototype? That he was the quarterback For a new era? Even though I disagree I would think If he really wanted to You know he didn't want to go back far enough He could say Fran Takaton But he could definitely say Randall Cunningham Guy could run as well as throw But Vick He can have it all he wants Vick a Hall of Famer? I don't know 2,500 yards 25,000 yards Total offense 5,000 yards Russian as a quarterback Most in the history of the NFL Kill Johnny Manziel Goes ahead and breaks it Can't be a day Go by without some kind of Johnny Manziel news On Instagram the other day Rocking the freaking money phone Good for him Of course Joe Hayden teammates said Look It's a fair idea Good idea You should just have somebody Saying Johnny Can't put this stuff on the internet You can do it all you want None of his friends Don't let him film it Just have some Big freaking Or a couple Multiple people Just walking around Protecting Johnny from himself A la John Belushi John Belushi hired a bodyguard Smokey something I don't know his name Smokey whatever He hired a bodyguard Just to make sure That nobody would give him drugs The same type of thing When Johnny Manziel Just hired a bodyguard Make sure nobody films him Anywhere he goes Just keep eyes out At least phone Film you know If you want to Go in the back of a Bushes and film him That's one thing But you should just have somebody At all times Just saying Pulling people out Snatching them by the ears Jameis Winston needs that too Although his old man Just came out and said He's going to play Two more years of football And one more year Of college baseball Because that was the plan The stupid fucking plan You really think Jameis Winston At this point in his life Is going to end up Going to work Being a guidance counselor He's going to end up Going to work You know Selling mortgages Working in mutual funds Fuck that One more year And go out And get paid Be the one Top five pick Get your money You need to go back to college You can go back to college Especially in this day and age With online shit You can do that anytime Why would you go back to Why would you just be a sitting duck And play all these teams But the big All you can do At this point Is really go downhill After the next season You know why I don't even know The thought process Of people like that Mike Patton Big news this week In the NFL We're in that dead period We're in that down zone Even though The sun Is kind of appropriate The sun's at its highest When we're finally in summer We should be A little bit down In sports Stuff we have to sit in And watch We don't have to But we choose to Mike Patton Coach of the Browns Former defensive coordinator For the Jets Says Bill Belichick Got a copy of the Jets playbook From Nick Saban I don't know Why he's going to Throw those names out there Shit I could go on Fucking Google And find a copy Of the Jets Defensive playbook And I could go In about 15 minutes I don't know why That's even a big story Of course Belichick Oh I'm insulted Rah Rah Rah Yeah I guess it was Tom Brady was Mouthing off to One of the Jets Assistant coaches It was at Wes Welker's Wedding that they had A copy of their playbook Like that really matters When the shit's hitting the fan And like it really matters When Especially if you play a team After week one And you see what they're doing Nobody's doing that much Different shit in the NFL Anyways And you're not It's all Relatively the same shit Especially defensively Now These certain Key words And key phrases I guess that you could Pick up on And know what's happening But I'm sure With the paranoia Of these NFL coaches They'll say thoroughness But the paranoia Of these NFL coaches I'm sure They change up words All the time It's not that hard to do It's word association But that was a big story This week And I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure Well I guess they need news stories But the bottom line there In the NFL network Talking about how Norv Turner is going to go ahead and let Adrian Peterson loose in the passing game We got to get him the ball in space That's such coach talk No kidding they got to get him the ball in space They got to keep him on the field And get him the football Not that fucking hard to do But this is big news Norv Turner Interesting to see what Norv does I think Norv is a decent Offensive coach but Got to find ways to get Adrian Peterson the ball Just give him a fullback A la Toby God Who they had Who's now in Jacksonville Who can do things Split back formations Do certain things out of that But Why would you do that Why would you do things that worked in the past And oh man I can't even watch these games They all do the same thing There's no offensive Innovation San Francisco is probably the best team At swapping up formations And different looks But still running the football Nobody else is doing it And look what San Francisco's done The last few years Of course they haven't won any championships But they're relevant And that's all we ask right Relevance is all we ask Speaking of relevance Bon Jovi Meeting Roger Goodell For two hours Having a luncheon meeting Taking notes And how he can get this franchise No fucking way You can't sell this shit to Jon Bon Jovi He's not a real man He's not a Well he is Quote unquote He's a hair fucking band rocker But I want my hair band rockers To be in the arena football league Like Vince Neal Vince Neal just bought a team In Las Vegas LA Oh no Las Vegas Outlaws rather Perfect rivals for the LA Kiss I love it Have a freaking rock off Motley Crue versus Kiss On the 50 yard line at halftime Man I don't even know what I would take Iconic fact I have to take Kiss Pure music kick ass I'm taking Motley Crue But Live in LA I'm taking the Kiss Going to the game next weekend by the way I know I've been talking about it all fucking year But I'm finally going Couldn't face myself to buy season tickets It's just not worth it Especially after watching some of these games On KCAL 9 They are tough to watch And I don't like the uniforms either I try to give them a chance But I don't like the uniforms either But I'm going next week I have a full report on them That Speaking of Adrian Peterson He loves to flap his gums too And how he's the best player in the world Essentially I don't want to bash on him too much Ah forget it Enough of him I don't even want to deal with him anymore I don't want to deal with the Redskins anymore Or Johnny Manziel At least for this week Jimmy Graham's Twitter account Is biting him in the ass He's going to He's staying to lose Several Million dollars Because And this is the founding evidence against him Not found You know It's the best evidence against him Is that on his own Twitter account He said Called himself a tight end So the lawyers for the NFL Or the lawyers for the Saints rather Saying Oh look he is a tight end And I've talked about this before And if you listen to the show You know what I'm talking about Because of the Franchise rule If he gets franchised in As a wide receiver He makes a lot more money Than as a tight end So he's been claiming He's a wide receiver Which he is Because A vast majority of the snaps He plays at wide receiver But His Twitter account says Tight end So He's a tight end And he's going to lose Like five Six million bucks Out of this Just because of the semantics of it Amazing Amazing how that stuff goes The whole contract thing in the NFL Matthias Kiwanuka actually had a good point He had to take a pay cut Because people love to say Oh But now he's only getting boo hoo He's going to be a tight end Going from four million to one million But it's not a contract That was his point It's not a contract And the contract Major League Baseball has right And the NBA has right You're going to pay a guy For a year You can't just opt out of it At any fucking time They could just release these guys It's so convoluted I try to read articles on the Salary cap I can't follow them I'm fucking college educated I'm fucking college educated Shit I'm a master's degree Even though that doesn't mean anything But I still can't follow What the hell's going on All I know is The more lawyers you get involved The more The cards get stacked in favor Of the rich guys And the really rich guys Are the owners And of course you have people Who say all the time Oh they're the ones taking the risk Bullshit There's no risk involved in the NFL It's not real freaking capitalism It's Territory protected Salary protected There's all types of protection In place for the owners I honestly think the union Should just argue Alright look Everybody signs a two year contract Guaranteed money Fuck the sign in bonus And the player option And the team option Rasta bonus And all that bullshit So they're saying If a guy gets hurt He could be faking it That's what That's what the You know Conservatives If you will The whole situation Say oh he's just gonna sign The contract and do nothing That's not the way These guys are doing it That's not the way These guys are wired And if they are wired that way After two years They'd be done They could never make more money What a guy like Matthias Kiwanuka was saying They should sign one year deals Might be a little bit extreme Two year deals Guaranteed money Hasn't hurt the Hasn't hurt Major League Baseball Hasn't hurt NBA Of course it gets to the issue of Somewhat tied into the same issue That they're fighting right now With the Ed O'Bannon trial And the NCAA Mark Emmerich talking about What you're gonna have is The NCAA is gonna turn into A minor league organization And nobody cares about The minor league organizations So a minor league baseball team In Cleveland One of the teams that's affiliated with It's affiliated with the Cleveland Indians Had a Mark Emmerich night Or Emmett Mark Emmett night They're gonna have Mark Emmett appreciation night At the single A team I gotta love minor league baseball Talk about creating a team Creative guys Creative marketing teams I gotta get people sitting in those stands If you sign up for the Program You can move seats But you have to wait an inning You know Play on the whole NCAA Waiting a year thing Which is ridiculous If a guy signs for a scholarship As we all know If you sign up for a scholarship For a team And you decide to transfer You have to wait another fucking year You have to sit out a full year And in the sit out year That sit out time You still practice And you still have the risk of injury If you transfer It is extremely risky to you To do so So it's a type of indentured servitude I have no idea why They don't let just guys just Go out and transfer I do know why Because it's a Like I said It's an indentured servitude And people say Oh they're getting We've talked about that ad nauseum They're trying to make money Once again But I don't know I don't know I don't even know This is freaking This blew my mind I just read this the other day SMU Southern Methodist University Selling beer this year I didn't know That a bunch of teams Already sold beer University of Houston I thought it was Completely banned by NCAA Not the case University of Houston Sells beer at games Louisville sells beer at games Memphis Tulane West Virginia They all sold beer at games Now SMU is the latest One to Go ahead and do it I guess what they say is All these teams That are doing it Are located in major cities SMU in Dallas Houston obvious Louisville obvious Memphis obvious Tulane New Orleans West Virginia There is no major city So Charleston Flips the bill Minnesota ended up Selling They sold beer last year At games University of Minnesota Which I believe is They play in Minneapolis But I couldn't Be incorrect They reported that In all their games They had $181,000 In profit Bullshit There's no way They made only $181,000 In profit Selling beer At a University of Minnesota Game for all the games They go at five games $118,000 So they're only making $20,000 in profit Fuck Those beers cost what 10, 12 bucks to get And how much are those beers Cost to them coming in 50 cents A buck The way they watered down Those beers 180,000 bucks I don't believe it It's a ridiculously stupid idea It's just like amateurism It's How these Academics pick and choose When they're gonna be High and mighty Oh no We don't sell beer at games So we'd rather have People sit out in the Parking lot And get fucking Bamboozled Before they come Stumbling in the game Instead of having Two, three beers in the game And that's something With this whole Powdered alcohol And that's something That just came up As you've seen On the internet Powdered alcohol Has just been FDA approved So if somebody wants To get sloshed in the game Just walk in with That powdered alcohol Go to the sink Pour a little bit in From the sink And they'll get hammered Might as well let them Make money off it It's ridiculous After you have a few beers Outside in the parking lot And then you go to The game And You know You got no beers in there And Ugh I don't know Simple things I don't know Why these people Why does it take someone Like me to be able To point this out to them Urban Mayak Running his mouth As always Come on It says that His 2008 Florida team Was the best team To ever play College football Lie I can name Four teams Off the top of my Well No That's top of my head now I obviously Wrote it down But Miami The 2000 Miami team 2001 Miami team The 99 Florida state team Any team Nebraska team With Tommy Tommy Tommy Frazier Rather That quarterback Any of those teams That are in that Florida team They weren't even Defeated You can't make a claim Being the best team Of all time And not even being Undefeated And of course Urban Anytime he gets a Microphone on his face He's got something Dramatic That says he's Going to base his team On the Spurs On the San Antonio Spurs That if you Don't have the culture Of the team The team first Then you're out Which is Wicked easy to do If you have 10 people Not so easy to do If you have 120 guys On your team And You lose those Once those scholarships Are used up You can't go back It's easy to say Very difficult to do Old Urban though Telling you He does have it figured out There's no way There's no way Ohio State's not going to be On the run for a national Championship again this year Obviously The Big Ten being what it is In the Urban My Era Ohio State will be playing For the Big Ten title Every year No doubt about it Going back a little bit further Because I haven't talked to you In a few weeks Chuck Knoll Legendary Pittsburgh Steeler coach Died 82 82 years old Went on and won Four Super Bowls With the Steelers Over six years From 74 to 79 Interesting tidbit Chuck Knoll was hired on To be the coach of the Steelers After Joe Paterno turned it down That's two Premier jobs That Joe Paterno turned down One Pittsburgh Steelers of that era And two The New England Patriots That era They would have given him Full control Although that would have been A shit show Under the Sullivan family But under the Rooney family Who knows what Joe Paterno Would have done Although he had a remarkable Career We all know how it ended And not well But Chuck Knoll Went in 13 His first year As head coach Of the Steelers Goes on to win Four Super Bowl titles In six years If that happened nowadays If he went one in 13 His first year He'd probably be fired Terry Bradshaw Who I promised I would come on And bash later Refused to show Well I should say refused Didn't show up To Chuck Knoll's funeral How absurd is that Because he's out Doing a one man show A one man play Who the fuck would pay To be the coach To go see Terry Bradshaw Do a one man show First of all But he said he was Too busy doing his One man show Which was like in New Jersey At the time Which was like an hour And a half drive He really I mean you're gonna Really disrespect The Knoll family Disrespect the Steelers franchise By just not showing up How hard it would have been For him to show up To a wake Or a funeral Or something Well it took him Two minutes Not two minutes A couple hours Out of his Busy schedule But he goes and Bashes Pages And he's like I don't know With this one man show Which I actually like But why is he even Freaking going out there Saying anything about Peyton Manning I love those quarterbacks Or those guys That love to say How oh oh You're only judged by Championships It's a fucking team sport Like the Spurs Beating the Heat this week It's obvious LeBron James Is the best player In the world But the Spurs Were a better team Take that And multiply it Times five With the NFL Yeah guys like Doug Williams The outfielder The outfielder Doug Williams Winning the Super Bowl Not even a good Beer sales Buffalo sit Buffalo bills Changing it to 11 o'clock Instead of noon Nothing wrong with that Same type of thing Get guys in the Building early So you can make $180 $181,000 In a year Freaking lie Jacksonville Jaguars Looking for any Excuse not to Play in Jacksonville Gonna have a game With the Daytona Speedway this year Daytona That's Bob Jacksonville And she likes to fish too Man I always It seems like The advertisers Have you figured out It seems like Every show I watch Is always Always ends up with that Farmersonly.com Or some kind of Internet dating Advertisements Thrown at me The shows I watch That lame That they think That I'm some kind of I guess they wouldn't Be that far off I guess you like The fish too Big fan of that Commercial I've been fishing I've been fishing In the last few weeks And don't catch anything The only thing that catches Is sunburn Hey now What else we got Notre Dame receiver Being the fine Catholic boys That they are Will Mahone Wide receiver Arrested on five charges Tried to punch In headbutt vehicles There's a potty He just went out And started smashing His head off vehicles Punching out Windshields When the Police came The police stunned him He spit at the police Charged with disorderly conduct Resistant arrest And vandalism Good for him Good Catholic boys With their murderous Head coach It's a tough statement You don't hear Many people Call the Coach of Notre Dame Murderous But I digress Speaking of murderers Dante Starworth Speaking at the Rookie Symposium Which is this week For those who don't know the story Dante Starworth Was found driving Under the influence I guess He claims It was one of those things Where he woke up the next morning Which I can see I've had that happen before He ended up killing someone Ended up killing someone But he got a month in jail for it And a one year NFL suspension Until he got But This is a fascinating point They ended up revoking His license for life I never even heard of that Someone unfortunately Revoked his license for life I think once a guy Gets in the NFL They should revoke All their licenses for life And force them to take cabs And have people Drive them around For the first few years That's what they should have In the Rookie Symposium As soon as they show up For their Rookie Symposium They snatch their driver license And their keys And they assign Each one of the Each one of the players Just have them Have drivers Drive them around It would save a lot In the Rookie Symposium They have all types of Things they're saying They're gonna End up Telling Players about How to live life They have it in Arroyo, Ohio Out in the middle of nowhere So they're probably gonna be Drag racing each other They're gonna talk about NFL history Total wellness Workplace conduct Talk about player health And safety Decision making Mental health And substance abuse Like any of these guys Haven't heard this before Scott Pioli Is gonna be one of the Keynote speakers Like Scott Pioli Big white boy With a big white shirt Going to central Connecticut Big Bruce Springsteen fan Can have any idea On how to really relate To these kids Going into this Rookie Symposium Which is a new thing Supposedly they're going to Show these guys away In four years Be funny how many of these guys Are hamming every night And Doing whatever it is These people do Mark Davis Owner of the Raiders Came out Saying there was No progressive talks In the stadium Deal for Oakland Raiders Setting up the stage For them to come to LA Prince Valium From Spaceballs Mark Davis Coming out And just Clearing the path I think it's happening folks I'm reading the tea leaves I think the Raiders Are gonna come back to LA Which would be fantastic More than one way XXFL That's a mouthful Developmental League Which we've been talking about On this radio show On this very program For about a year now Shit we're almost at a year By the way Time flies by Anyhow FXFL The Fall Experimental Football League It's gonna have six teams Of 40 man rosters Gonna start in October Which is the dumbest Fucking month of the year To start With the NFL in full bloom And NCAA football In full bloom Might as well throw in Some more competition in there About 1500 people To go to these games Team Team's gonna be in New York The Boston area Which is Fairly Fairly expansive Austin Portland Omaha Started by Tommy Harris Or rather Tommy Harris Owner of the Austin team Says it's gonna be A minor league team For the NFL Which We've Pushed But really How's this minor league team Gonna work They're gonna play on Wednesday fucking nights But they can say They're gonna play on Friday nights In the Northeast Because High school football Isn't A big of a deal In the New York Boston area That's fine But real football fans If you're really into football And you wanna go to a game On Friday night You're gonna go support Your local fucking High school football team You're not gonna go to these What are gonna be considered Semi-pros Which is a very Broad term Semi-pros But who's gonna go Watch these games On a Wednesday night I probably would Cause I'm a sick fuck But I have to Go coach my own High school team So I don't even know They don't even have a team Out in LA I don't know why They don't put teams If they're gonna do this shit Wasn't anybody thinking out Okay Let's do it The week after the Super Bowl A la the XFL Without the F Why don't we put it In warm weather Communities California Florida Arizona Texas If you want those Same six teams You can find teams Where it's warmer South Carolina Put in one in Columbus And play for the From February to March The downtime Won't work Any way you cut it Seems like it never works Any of that stuff Canadian Football League Doesn't have any Freaking clout When you got Chad Johnson Out as formerly known As Ocho Cinco Playing for Montreal Alouettes Played last night Ended up one catch For 13 yards Just falling off He's really not even that old By those standards Especially You see Guys like him Like Tim Duncan At 38 Running up and down On the fucking court You got Troy Smith Throwing a Chad Johnson In the Montreal Alouettes He can't play At this point In Canada Ah fuck it Let the guy play All he wants Speaking of playing All they want Aaron Nandez Shitty segue Has no Has nothing to do with Playing anything Anyhow Aaron Nandez Moving out of Bristol County Massachusetts He's not even He needs to be closer To Boston for some reason Since he fears For his life In Bristol County Which is where The Fall River Providence North Attleboro area From which he's did His alleged Crimes Pro Writers Football Association Is the last thing Almost I got a couple more things Pro Football's Writers Association Came up with their awards Their good guy awards Good guy player award Good guy coach award Russell Wilson Pete Carroll Russell Wilson 24 years old Going through a divorce Just saying Not saying he's a bad guy Because he's going Through a divorce But at least There's somebody out there Who hates his guts Pete Carroll The 9-11 Conspiracy theorist Good guy award as well They know how to bullshit Ah Darrell Rivas Saying In the In the New England fans Of Boston Globe And whatnot Have a field day with He's just got nothing to prove At this point In minicamp Just getting out of the minicamps By the way Probably a point I should have brought up earlier Three four day minicamps Rivas says I got I got nothing to prove Which is true He does have nothing to prove And I tell you what The more I watch His past defense I think they're finally Finally at the place They've wanted to be at Trying to get The Raiders of course Trying to get Khalil Mack At a place he wants to be at It's another Really insightful NFL Bottom line Khalil Mack Head is Head is spinning Raiders playbook I don't know why They take a guy like that And confuse him Now I know It's relatively early But there's no reason To confuse a guy like that Like I've talked to My boy Sean Spence A defensive line coach At Penn State Name dropping Told me Said what's the best I asked him What's the best Pete to be Some coaching advice You gave someone He said go get him dog And that's what it is You got a guy like Khalil Mack Go fucking get him Why should he be thinking You're thinking You're stinking Why are you putting that guy Out there in those Head spinning Shouldn't even be like that In this day and age Should make it as simple As possible Keep it simple stupid Isn't that a fundamental Principle But you got these coaches That just Like to outthink themselves Because they have all this time And they're sitting around And they think that they can innovate Innovations overrated Fundamentals in philosophy A key philosophy From the top down That's how they win That's why you see teams like The Patriots And now you see the Niners And the Seahawks These guys aren't afraid To lose their jobs It's not this Continuous campaign That a lot of these head coaches have Like politicians They continuously campaign So they just make it They just make it They just make promises And they do things That'll temporarily Stop the bleeding They'll stick the finger In the dike And they'll stop the bleeding For a little bit But there's no long term vision It's the same thing That's happening in this country All the laws that pass And everything in Congress Is just stop the bleeding And blame somebody else So you can get To the next election cycle And maintain popularity But the long term vision Long term plan Is non-existent Guys like Chuck Noll If they was around today They'd be fired After a while I'm one in 13 But they have a long term vision And plan And look what happens After a certain amount of time Do I really feel like Getting anything else in? No, I don't Alright I got one more episode Coming up next week Follow us on Twitter At Hyde Yards LA On iTunes And on the Skid Row Studio Website Skidrowstudios.com I got my business cards And I'm just dropping them everywhere Dropping this show I'm out Later Outro Music
