katie can you just tell me how you started uh in the adult industry where this kind of came from sure um i started actually through the music um through the music industry um i started doing a lot of touring i got into the suicide girls the uh more of the alternative um stuff and uh so when i was 17 i booked my first shoot with suicide girls with razor dolls um and uh shot my first nude photos uh and how did that go for you like how are you feeling when you got this when you got this opportunity um well i i'm not sure i'm not i uh i was really excited because i i had already done just regular modeling before i was 18 um because i used to be this tiny little thing um you still are very tiny yeah not not as tiny but tinier um but uh you know as a young kid of course you know you're tiny and everybody's tiny you know for well most people are tiny at 14 um or smaller than they are in their 20s but uh i did that sort of modeling and i just was so interested i thought you know these the these sets the themes the the uh just the the prettiness of the artistic nudes i just loved it okay um so that's what i wanted to do and um i called them up i emailed them when i was 17 um for my birthday on 11 11 so when i turned 18 i could shoot so three days after my 18th birthday i did two different photo shoots one for razor dolls and one for suicide girls and how did those go where were they like what what were you feeling really when you this is the first time you did a nude shoot right yes so how did you feel when you were taking your clothes off in front of these people was it a lot of people okay the very first actually both of them uh was basically just me and the photographer okay um so a little more intimate right um the razor dolls one was shot in hollywood in the freezing cold in november and um the other one was shot in la um in a warehouse for suicide girls um and so yeah there wasn't really many people watching um for my very first just photo shoots um but i did my first girl girl with stoia about a year after for razor dolls.com and that was a photo shoot or was that an actual sex it was a girl girl sexy okay um it was mine and i believe it was stoia's first scene as well it may have been her first or second this is before her digital playground contract how did you go from doing suicide girls and nude modeling to having sex on camera what was that transition like for you um i think i always wanted to do that um because i was very much of an exhibitionist but um i didn't necessarily want to make that full jump so that's why i just started off doing like solo and then i started doing like solo and then i started doing like solo and then i started doing girl girls i see now tell me before we go on a little bit further i kind of want to know where you came from because i spoke with you a little bit earlier and you said that you were you were raised in a christian family so now being raised in a christian family and a conservative family and moving forward into the porn industry how is that like for you how did you how did you get to that transition like what set you off to kind of stray away from your average or your normal beliefs right um or the family yeah exactly confines um i know in your last show you kind of talked about you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you were a Christian and you you are from a religious family as well so yeah not it i mean not so much religious it was more just conservative you know very very strict um i definitely was brought up Christian but not to the the point where they made me go to church i just had to go to bible camp like once a year um and the only reason i went was because i had the hot exactly and did you go to that one uh the pine crust you said camp cedar crust cedar no it was cedar pine i swear it was like pine crust but maybe it's similar christian school it was a christian bible camp and the only reason i got excited same one southern california bible camp that's really funny probably there's probably only one or two but i had the hots for the pastor's son and that's the only reason i got excited i'd fall asleep in church i get in trouble you know um so yeah like you know you're saying that you were brought up in this kind of family so just tell me a little bit more about your transition because i feel like i can relate to you a little bit um well i got really lucky i was adopted um when i was six weeks old and um my parents are uh christian four square christian um parents um they are really awesome awesome people uh they adopted four kids on top of the two they already had are you the oldest or are you i am in the middle there's um i have three older brothers an older sister and then a younger sister got it so quite a few kids and uh and yeah we were made to go to you know we had to go to sunday morning sometimes wednesday nights when we were kids depending on if my parents taught sunday school on sunday morning so then they didn't get together so we'd go wednesday night um and uh i always kind of didn't um wasn't really into it i never i never remember wanting to go or being interested in going um and uh luckily for me my parents i've had a very old open relationship with my parents um me and my mother you know my mother worked really hard to keep an open communication going with me because i was so rebellious i was so on the other side even with all the sexual stuff she was totally comfortable with that because that's very rare that's very yeah i mean they are not happy about it it's not what they would want or what they would choose but they still support you right they're not going to say well because you've chosen a path that we've chosen and i'm not going to say well because you've chosen a path that we've chosen and i'm not going to say well because you've chosen a path that we've chosen and we don't agree with then we're not going to you know uh be around you or talk to you i mean they're not i mean that's not you know the christian way the christian way i mean you know what god teaches is you know you love your neighbor as yourself um you know forgiveness and um you know to not judge not throw the first stone so so now saying this they seem like they're pretty welcoming and open with obviously with what you wanted to do so how did you bring that up how did you get started when you did your first stone so i think it's a really good question i think it's a really good question i think it's a really good question um i think i brought it up through just showing them um suicide girl sets and i'd be like look is and this is at like 16 17 years old i can only imagine my poor father um at 16 17 i'm sitting there going hey look look at this photo shoot isn't this so cool i can't wait till i can do this so i think they had an idea of where i was headed i see okay so that made a little bit easier on them right so now um tell me a little bit about your first scene i i'm very interested how are the camera people was everyone uh you know uh welcoming to you was it stressful was intimidating how did you feel when you were on camera okay so since um i guess we're skipping just a little bit just to fill in everybody else who doesn't know um between the age of 19 and then till i did my first boy girl scene um i worked behind the scenes um i worked for um for eddie powell behind the scenes and new sensations and did um and jack the zipper and what did you do exactly doing um like production assistant work production management um and getting your feet wet in the industry a little bit right um just kind of behind the scenes doing all the booking um location scouting things like that and i was able to start um you know making different connections and relationships in the adult industry and um i really enjoyed it and i knew that once i went in um luckily by being behind the scenes by being good friends with these directors um who are really great you know kind caring directors who care about their talent um i learned you know uh what steps to take in order to make my time in the industry the best it could be and so that's why i've kind of waited so long so my first scene i just did in november um for a website called getshotgirls.com was that was in november so i i guess all my stuff is in november i'm a big it's a good month for you yeah november's a big month for me that's when i got married it's my birthday so yeah it's a big month for me i guess it's when i did my first boy girl scene that's when i did my first photo shoots i don't think it's when i did my first girl girl scene though so now what what were your feelings exactly when you were shooting um um um um um um um um To be honest, I was a little nervous, even though I'd been around it so much and so much behind the scenes. And it wasn't like, I mean, it's definitely not the same when you're the performer and you're the one on camera. And I did it with, yeah, GetShotGirls.com and with the owner of the website, JP Hunter. And it was a lot of fun. And it was more so just, it was actually in the backyard of the place that I was living at at the time for like a month. And we did it in the friend's backyard and it ended up turning out kind of fun. It just was a quick, fun, easy sort of scene. It wasn't anything for a big feature or anything like that. This is more of a, you know, kind of raw more. So when you were performing, were you nervous? Because I mean, I've done stuff with past boyfriends, for example, on camera. And as soon as the camera gets on me, my entire sexual chemistry just changes. I get super nervous and I don't know what to do with it. So now when someone puts the camera on you like that, like how did you feel when you were actually having sex with someone else and people were watching? But before we take a break, I kind of just want to, you know, if, for example, if I want to know how to get into the porn industry and do my very first, like, film, what kind of direction would you extend? Do other women that are interested in the industry? I would definitely say there's a few different places you can go. There's pornstarlifecoach.com, which is a good one. But I would say you want to look into the industry first. Look at your favorite performers. Try and contact them on Twitter. I would contact an agent. Ask them, you know, what sort of things they're looking for, what openings they have, what you're interested in doing, what you're okay to do. Because right now in the industry, it's not easy. It's not easy to be a performer. You can't be a pretty girl, hop on in, and make a bunch of money these days. You cannot do that. Even if you are a stunningly gorgeous girl. The money's just not the same. Yeah, it's not there. The pirating, everything else, same with the music industry. It's not there. It's not there. It's not there. It's not there. It's not there. That's another thing that a lot of people don't necessarily understand or know when they hop into the adult industry is they think, oh, well, I'll just do it a little bit or I'll just do it here or there. And now with the internet age, there is no just a little bit. A little bit could easily turn into a whole bunch. It could turn into 10 years of your life. Even if you only shop for three months. So I would definitely think ahead. Know that you can't take it back. Know that it will be out there for everybody to see no matter what, no matter if you want it there or not. So I would take your time. So you've obviously come to terms with that. Right. And I would take your time. Know that you're going to be judged. People will call you names. People will, you know, look different. They'll look down on you. And you have to be comfortable enough with yourself, too, to be able to take the name calling, to take the negative attention and not internalize it and know and be confident in yourself that this is what you want to do and you're happy with yourself. I know that you're a writer for the film industry. You were nominated last year for Lost and Found at the AVNs. Tell me a little bit about how you got started and how you got into the whole writing. Okay, so I was writing in college, doing standard college kind of short fiction type stuff. And I met my now lovely wife, Katy Kens, at a camp we both go to every summer. And she had mentioned that her ex-boyfriend, Eddie Powell, was looking for writers to do screenplays for this, what's called the New Sensations Romance Series. Okay. The New Sensations Romance Series. Did I say that? Yes. Yes, you did. It's a mouthful. It is, it is. Okay, so, and these are basically getting back to the kind of storyline, narrative type of adult films like they had in the 70s when you'd go to a theater and you'd actually watch a movie all the way through. And have a plot line and all that. So, adult films kind of went toward the morgonzo, just kind of sex scenes without any kind of context, just people having sex. Pure. I see. Pure meat market kind of stuff. Okay. But lately with the way that you can just like download adult films on the internet and the business model has been migrating more toward selling stuff that people want to buy and have. So these, the romance series films, they come in really nice cases. They're really nice illustrators. It's like a thing you can buy and collect. Okay. So these are, what I've been writing basically is kind of like romantic comedies with the sex scenes. Okay. So in your typical Hollywood romantic comedy, they'll have the lead up to the sex scene and then kind of cut away. And these just stay there and show the people actually having sex. And it's all very much couple centric. Okay. You don't have, you know, anonymous people. Okay. You don't have people randomly getting together. These are couples that are in committed relationships, boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, and wives often. And it's more meant for couples to enjoy as they're, you know, gonna have sex and all that. Now, these videos that we have here, Katie, is showing on the camera. What, or she's showing her beautiful breasts. I'm not sure which one. Indeed. As far as those films are, are those the ones that you've worked on and that you've done or? Yes. Oh, these are not mine. Well, they're mine, but they're not mine. I'm not in them. This is one from the new sensations romance series that Mona Sunoi was talking about. This is With This Ring. There's also Lost and Found. Let me go into- Still one of the top selling ones with my little Boston Terrier boss. Let me talk about With This Ring because that's a good example for what these movies are about. Go ahead. I would love to hear about it. Wicked Pictures, Summer Lovin' that he wrote with Aza Akira. You know what? That's actually really good. That is with Aza Akira. She is in a lot of the programs that we do at my work. Aza Akira, I apologize. Aza, of course, everyone does the Aza Akira. It's okay. Oh my goodness. I apologize. It's okay. So Mona, go ahead and tell me a little bit more about the other film. Okay. So With This Ring is kind of a prototypical of what we see in this kind of series where we have the movie's about three couples who all live in one house together and none of them are married. The girls were kind of starting to get antsy about getting married. The guy is like, I'm gonna get married. I'm gonna get married. I'm gonna get married. I'm gonna get married. And the guys are kind of like, you know, if we just like band together and just stay girlfriend, boyfriend, like as soon as one of us gets married, all the other couples are gonna have to get married. So one day, one of the girls just kind of like, you know, going through the linen cabinet or whatever, finds a ring that obviously someone is waiting to propose with. And so all three girls who are living in the house all think that, of course, it's my boyfriend who's got this ring. So they've all, so they kind of band together and try to prompt the guys to propose to them. And the guy is being like, meanwhile, they're thinking like, these girls are crazy. Like, you know, we've got to like stick together. So there's this, yeah, like a kind of a comedic storyline with sex things along the way. Yeah. It's like rom-coms, but with a little bit of sex involved. Now, you write these storylines. Do you ever go on set and do any directing with them? No directing. I have, I wasn't extra in a couple of them, I believe. Yeah, with this ring and- With this ring, we were both, we're extras in kind of like a bar scene. Yeah. Yeah. And we were just hanging out with Xander Corvus, who's the star of that one. Mm-hmm. He's the star of Lost and Found as well. Yeah. So he was, he was a lot, he was a lot of fun. Xander's a great, great performer. Really, really intuitive performer as, when it pertains to reading a script and figuring out the character that he's supposed to play. Okay. And we are going to do a giveaway actually. Yeah. Now, Katie, I want to just kind of go over a little bit more with you as far as, since you just got into the adult industry, you did your first film in November. I kind of actually want to know, Mona, how do you feel about seeing your wife on film? Oh, that's a good question. I don't, I don't see her. I don't see her actually. I've told her, you know, we have a kind of an open relationship and I, you know, I want to know what she's doing, but I don't really need details. And so we kind of leave it at that. So do you ever watch like what she's doing or you don't want to watch either? I'm not, I don't, I'm not really interested in watching really. He's not a big boy or no. Yeah. But I do got to say, I got to give you a lot of props because you don't find a lot of men who are open with that and are okay with that. And I do, since we were like pretty early on in relationship we were dating, she wanted to do adult. And so, you know, that's just something I accepted about her and I, you know, I'm happy if she's happy. Right. And I think also. I don't need to see it. That's the only thing. I don't need to see it. Now, Katie, what are your goals now? You did your first film in November. What are, what are your future goals? What is it that you hope to accomplish? Well, for me in the adult industry, I mean, I think, oh, it'd be so awesome to get an AVN. And I think everybody kind of goes, oh, well, I'm not here to get an AVN. I want an AVN. Okay. I mean, I don't, I mean, I don't think I'll necessarily get one and or be, ever be nominated for one, but I like one. What do you think it takes? Because performers work hard. It takes a lot. I mean, first of all, what I need to do is, I need an agent. So if there are any agents in the adult industry that would like to represent me, that would be great. I've, I've looked at agencies and, you know, I'm, I'm doing it on my own just cause I know so many people so far, but maybe get an agent. And then I'm working on my website, katiekens.com. And, I don't know. There's just, there's just so much to do in the adult industry. And, I love interacting on Twitter, at katiekens9, and talking to fans, booking webcam shows, things like that. And, and yeah, I guess I just, I mean, I don't, I don't have necessarily a goal for myself. Your goal is to get an AVN, sweetheart. I mean, I guess that's, I guess that's, you know, the ultimate, you know, reward for your performing, your performances. And, I think, I think that's, you know, you're a good thing for your performances or your work all year round. And I can tell you most girls that get those AVNs are all very deserving or anybody that are getting them are mostly deserving. It's a lot harder than people think it is. It's a lot more demanding.
