I need you to understand. I need you to understand. I need you to understand. When you want something new, When you want something new, All the flowers shall return a-brown All the flowers All the flowers All the flowers shall return a-brown Brown flowers preaching Mahut, Mahdina That was by the band Supreme Cuts. Divine Ecstasy is the name of that record. It's a solid record out on Dovecoat label. Next up, some rare disco nuggets courtesy of the archaeologists over at Ubiquity Records. Hocus Pocus. Can't Wait for Love is the name of the tune. Can't Wait for Love is the name of the tune. You know I love you You know I love you Won't you love me too? Can't wait for love There's so many things I'd like to do with you I know it's late But I can't wait for love Can't wait for love Can't wait for love If you don't love me too much If you don't love me too much When can I say goodbye? When can I say goodbye? Give it for love Give it for love guitar solo Heaven and earth pass before my eyes Time flips away and I realize I know it's late but I can't wait For love When it falls on Que buen volar Que buen volar Que buen volar Que buen volar Que buen volar Hocus Pocus, that's spelled H-O-K-I-S-P-O-K-I-S. Can't wait for love. The album's called The Magic of Hocus Pocus, and it comes to us by way of Love & Hate Records and Ubiquity Records. Love & Hate from the Bay Area, meaning hate straight. They do, as I mentioned earlier, it's sort of an archaeologist. They find this great old music. It needs a little bit of a second look. Before that, we heard Supreme Cuts, Brown Flowers from the Divine Ecstasy record. A couple weeks ago, I believe, on the Dovecoat record label. And before that, we heard Sylvia Striplin, and started off a little background music from Odyssey. Behind me, here. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Well, you won't hear much of Sharon Jones on this tune. Dap Kings is an incredible band without even Sharon Jones getting there, but it was featured in a little flute by Kotamia Gastelum. He sits in a lot with the band. I believe Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are coming to L.A. at the end of the month. March 31st, maybe? March 31st, maybe? March 31st, maybe? March 31st, maybe? March 31st, maybe? You know what else is coming up? Record Store Day, April 19th. Record Store Day is basically a day devoted to keeping the record stores alive, keeping that organic form of music, media, alive. So go out and buy some records. Shops are not ubiquitous like they are anymore, like they used to be rather, but you can still find them almost every day. Lately, I've been favoring... I've been favoring... Art Forum Studio Records. Record shop over here in downtown, pretty much on the corner of 3rd and Alameda. Art Forum Studio. They are in the front of the shop. It's a vinyl record store. In the back, they got a hair salon. So there's always a hair salon chatter going on. It's pretty fun. And some good treasure hunting there. They know what they're doing. Well, they should know what they're doing. They're run by Adrian Young. Not the drummer from No Doubt, but Adrian Young, spelled Y-O-U-N-G-E. He's a musician, composer. He's done a couple movie soundtracks, and he owns a shop there. Art Forum Studio at 701 East 3rd Street, Los Angeles, California, 90013. Like I mentioned, it's on the corner of 3rd and Alameda. Art Forum Studio. You can check them out. You can check more of them out at the Art Forum Studio website. Theartforumstudio.com. Want to hear some more tunes? I figured you would. Let's see. I'm going to start you out with Anger by Marvin Gaye. One of my favorite tunes. And I'll follow it up with Jamie Lidell. Electronic artist, but a lot of soul. After that, we're going to hear Black Milk, a little bit of hip hop, and Toki Monster. We'll follow that up. So, hope you enjoy. I know I will. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You hear Los Angeles is on the lines. Giving up food for jaw. It's a great accompaniment for this brand new springtime weather. Spring is here. Birds are chirping. Squirrels are chasing each other around. Possums are humping. New life. Invigorating. I'm ready. You ready? Hey, check out neighborhood-love.com right now. So you can check out brand new content. There's a Robert Old H.C. dude. Famous photographer. Famous underground photographer, I guess. If that's not too much of a contradiction. Well-known underground photographer. He was asked to come along with the Angel City Brigade, which is the LA Galaxy support. Not quite. I wouldn't call them soccer hooligans, but definitely support. They're there every game, every match. And he was allowed to come along and shot a pretty good little photo essay on them. That's currently uploaded to neighborhood-love.com. Also on said neighborhood-love.com, homeless or hipster, a little game that founder Els came with. He compares photos of people, and you have to guess whether they're homeless or hipsters. There's an answer key too, so he's not going to leave you hanging. He's a good dude. I'm not just saying that because he's my boss. Also, if you like this program, please go and check out past programs also on neighborhood-love.com forward slash radio. If you got the old iTunes there, then check me out on the, you can do a podcast search for Neighborhood Love Radio. And don't be shy. If you like the show, if and only if you like the show, a little positive commentary on there, and that helps this show, as well as other independent content and broadcasting. Other independent content and broadcasting, much like, uh, the Dark Mark show here at Skid Row Studios, or the very manic Jimmy Cab show, which plays on Sundays for that good hardcore shit. Los Angeles, Nista. Pretty much go, there's pretty much a whole solid lineup here at the show. Blame it on gingers through the roof. Adulterous ginger. I got to, uh, deliver, the other day I got to listen to, uh, her speaking on the phone, give a, deliver a cautionary tale about putting aminibs in your butt and how it didn't work out very well for her. I imagine they were plain, not peanut, but I don't really know. I didn't, I didn't ask. She said they were peanut. Oh, really? Yeah. I guess that would be a little worse. I don't know. Hey, loved ones, coming up in the free, next I got Lee fields and the explorers. Lee fields wants to talk to you a little bit about, uh, he wants to talk to the fellows out there and deliver a little bit of a advisement. Rapping with Lee is the name of the tune and it's on the problems record out 2009 soul fire records. You should check out soul fire records and they got a great catalog. And after that, classic Harold Melvin and the blue nose. It's, you know how to make me feel so good, which is, uh, off the wake up every day album, 1973. And it's our fourth and final record with Mr. Teddy pedigree. After that, we're going to hear some, uh, some Monday with the message. I've been mispronouncing some Monday for a long time because I spell it C Y M a N D E, but no, it is pronounced some Monday. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Please enjoy this set of music assembled with love in downtown Los Angeles. Hey fellas, we're going to talk about women for a while. Yeah. We're going to talk about some women. Women comes in all colors, all sizes all over the world. And one thing for sure, a man, a woman is not complete until you find that right girl. You know what I'm trying to say? Ever since the beginning of time, man has been trying to understand what makes the woman think the way she thinks. But let me tell you something brother, you fooling yourself because a woman is a mind of his own. She has a mind of her own. She has a mind of her own. When you want something, Not to be understood completely by a man. Unless you got a little sugar in your tank. Listen. What I want to talk about is how to keep you, woman fellas. First of all, you got to keep her satisfied. 24-7. Yeah. And although you might not want to, but you got to listen to her sometimes. Yeah. And when you're in trouble, bring home some flowers. That'll make everything just fine. And fellas, never tell her that your mother cooks better. Even though it may be true. Because that'll make her angry every time. And that means no loving for you. And if she asks you whether that dress is too tight or whether she put on a few pounds, you say, no, baby. A man needs something to hold on to. You look just right. And fellas, if she's been talking for 10 minutes and you have no idea what she's talking about, she stops and asks you a question. Just nod your head. Say, yeah, baby, you right. And if your woman comes home with a bad hairdo and she asks you what you think, you say, yeah, baby, it looks good. It looks good on you. Remember fellas, you can't say nothing to your daughter. Now follow those instructions fellas, and you'll keep your woman. And remember fellas, follow those instructions, and you'll keep your woman. Some guys call it henpecked, but I call it being picked by the right hand. It's like that. It's like that. Hey Lee, what you talkin' about?
