I'm giving a fuck about those space eggs, hoes, these one-pup niggas, no why.
Some professions, like being an entertainer, being an athlete, you're almost accustomed.
You're expected to show your wealth.
This is what is hot, and this is what you need to be.
The way that you show success is by having a BMW and having a large house.
Celebrities go broke all the time.
You took all the money away from all the millionaires and gave it to all the people who were poor.
Most of those people who were poor will be back broke, busted, and disgusted again.
You have to show them that you want to know about your business.
The tax issues that some of these celebrities have faced, Bow Wow, Lauryn Hill, Wesley Snipes, it really honestly could happen to anybody.
Taxes, what's that?
The closest thing to taxes in they body is taxis.
Taxis!
When you take a group of people that have been shut out for hundreds of years, it will tend to feed their appetite to overindulge.
I'm not trying to say money is everything, but...
We have a culture that worships luxury, worships excess.
We feel like it represents us.
Nobody was ever taught.
We have a culture that worships financial literacy.
So somebody hands you $100,000, you spend $100,000.
How long are you going to be broke?
How long are you going to be low income?
How long are you not going to harness your finances?!! !
Indy Face Radio, it's your boy Terrible T.
Man, let me tell you about it.
called in right on time.
Aka Laka.
And then the next one was MC Breed and Erotic D, Cosmos.
Then you know they had that Mogatum trailer when the checks stopped coming in.
Y'all need to pick that up, man.
We got a caller on the line, man.
They've been holding for a hot second.
Indie Face Radio, this your boy Terrible T.
Who is this on the line?
This your boy Face out of Texas, man.
What up, Face?
What up, Face, man?
What's happening?
Oh, man, just out here working, man.
Out here working, baby.
I see, man.
You doing your thing for real, for real, man.
Oh, man, we trying, man.
It's hard work.
But you know what I'm saying?
Hustle me hard work.
You know what, man?
I love the fact that you stayed on me.
You say, look, man, I got some stuff I need to slide to you.
I say, hey, man, slide it to me.
If it's hot?
You know, if it's hot, I'm going to tell you the truth, man.
You know, if it's not, I'm going to tell you the truth also.
You slid something to me?
We're going to be playing that towards the end of the show, man.
And tell all the people that's listening right now who you are, name your company, and y'all whole movement and what that's all about.
Oh, man, my name is Antonio Face 1.
We out of the D-Town, man.
Now, now, now.
Hold on, hold on.
Hold on.
Because, you know, because when Slap called in, he said, you know, hey, you know, so D, that could be Detroit.
It could be, come on, man.
You say D, too.
Okay, okay.
All right, all right.
We call it the trip of D over this way.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You know, man, it's just good music, man.
Are y'all going to do it against Green Bay this weekend, though?
Hey, man, hey, the boys going to do their thing.
Okay, all right.
All right, so you out of D-Town, and what's the name of your company again?
Stage One Entertainment.
Stage One Entertainment, man.
Yeah, you know, we just, we trying to bring that flavor back, man.
You know, we kind of got off course, you know what I'm saying?
The music kind of got off course.
We just trying to bring it back, man, where we can put that track in the deck and then just get with it, you know, listen to it all day, every day.
How many artists you got over there in the stable?
How many artists over there, man, that's representing the D?
Man, we have one in the stable.
We got one in the shoot.
We got a gospel artist in the shoot.
Gospel, okay.
We looking at, yeah.
Make sure you hit me with that one, because we trying to be diverse around here, man.
Hit me with that gospel, man.
Yeah, we got a couple more things we looking at, but right now we just taking it one step at a time, man.
Okay.
Are you looking for other artists outside of the Dallas region?
Because I say that because, you know, when people start entertainment companies and things of that nature, they want to stay within their own little region, their own little sound and stuff like that.
They're not open to.
You know, other regions and the other sounds and other artists.
Do they have to be from Texas to be signed with you guys?
What?
What's up with that?
Right now, we taking it one step at a time.
Right.
We're, you know, real small, independent, you know, labels.
But, you know, things going to come around.
We got some stuff going on that we're going to be able to open up the market.
So maybe that outside source.
But right now we're trying to keep it in.
So we can build a strong foundation.
Okay.
We can be here for the long haul.
I can respect that.
Now, face.
Let me ask you this, though.
You got any visuals on any any artists, man?
Any any videos you can because, you know, we play those two, man.
Well, we work.
We got one that we work on, but we're going to come back and redo it because I want to have to with the video.
Okay.
You know, the way it was shot.
So we're going to come back and redo it.
Well, you did the right thing.
Better.
Look, let me tell you something.
As a head of a company.
The best advice I can give you is when you're sitting on all this product and you see the end result of whatever it is, whether it's you got through mix and mastered and the video has been done as you know, everything is in it and you and you think it's ready to go out, but you don't feel that it's ready.
Don't let it leave that building.
Don't do it.
If you don't feel that.
You.
Might have to just eat it.
I don't care what the cost is.
If you don't feel like it's ready for the public to get it, just eat it.
That's right.
That's the best advice I can give you.
I remember advice that was given to me a long time ago.
Your first impression is your last impression.
I'm talking about.
Well, hey, man, we got a hot one for you that we can be playing a little bit later, man.
I'm glad you got a chance to call in.
We got to schedule for an official official interview in the future.
But.
Okay.
The one we got, man, is a wink wink.
Oh, man.
Back back on it.
And I love to do, man.
You know, man.
But you know what?
I just want to get shut out of all the artists on the line up, man.
Okay.
Keep grinding.
And man, don't give up, man.
You know what I'm talking about?
Hip hop, man.
It never stops.
Man, keep pushing.
Yeah.
Keep pushing, baby.
Yeah.
I'm talking about a shout out.
Hey, man, look, you keep doing your thing.
Keep watching.
Keep being a fan of the show.

Don't talk about it right now.
But I want to.
Hey, Cohen, tell me.
Don't don't tell everything.
You know, because I'll be in meetings.
When I get out of meetings, I'll be like, I want to tell.
Cohen said, no, man.
Tease, folks, man.
I've been riding with you for a long time.
Yeah, yeah, man.
I've known you, bro.
And I'm behind you 100 percent.
And whatever Sage want entertainment got to do in the Triple D, man.
Let us know, man.
We're going to ride this thing out.

I'm going to be back in the summer.

I'm telling you.

And he now has a bigger role over there at BET.
So I've been knowing Stephen Hill for a long time, even when he was at BH1.
So hey, man, shout out to you, man.

He gets a lot of flack sometimes for the programming on BET.
But Stephen Hill, man, he's he's been my brother.
I've known him from back in the day.

Are you guys actually viewing us At the same time?
Mm-hmm Okay Yeah There I go With that little shout out Okay, I had to get that in there Okay, all right then Yeah, yeah, yeah Okay, so you ladies on the line I tell you what Why don't you guys tell me about yourselves Tell me about your company And tell me, you know Just what you guys' whole movement Is all about Okay Well, I want to jump in here And start off first Okay Again, my name is Carrie Davis Thank you I am Miss Madison County Plus For 2015 Okay That is in Madison County, Alabama Okay And it is a plus size takeover tonight That's what we're doing That's why we're here Oh, okay All right then All right then That's what I'm talking about Represented for the curvy ladies Across the world Ain't nothing wrong with that Ain't nothing wrong with that at all And so So you are Miss You say Alabama Plus Miss Madison County Plus America 2015 Okay And it's part of the Miss Alabama pageant system Okay, all right then So I'm adelegant to the Miss Alabama pageant Which will be held in April of 2015 That will be held in April 2015 In what city?
In Birmingham, Alabama In Birmingham to be him That's what I'm talking about Yes Okay, and then Dion Tell me a little bit about you And your company And your whole movement And what you're trying to do Okay, my name is Dion Reese Grubbs again I am the CEO and founder of Full Figure Fierce Full Figure Fierce is an organization I started to inspire, empower And encourage my curvy ladies To love who they are Where they are And not let the media Tell them what they should look like Or who they should be Just be yourself and love yourself Where you are right now Okay, so this is for both you guys Where did you get your first What did your love and passion For plus size modeling and pageantry come from?
Well, I've been a plus size model Since 2009 And being in the industry I saw that there was a need for I mean, I see some of the most Some of them have stories That you wouldn't believe Like some are really hurting inside And I think that's where a lot of People say women are catty And can't get along And all of that stuff But we have We've built walls To protect ourselves And protect our hearts Because we've had so many people Tell us what we aren't But I felt there was a need To tell them exactly what they are You are beautiful You are powerful You are worthy I got you I got you Now, this is for both you guys too Do you find that Full figured models Now are being accepted More And are on an even playing field Like other models?
Well, personally This is Carrie Personally I don't think that it's an even playing field And why?
I think we still have ways to go Before plus size models Can you tell me why?
I don't think that's being accepted Well, just because The standard You know, the system Is created And when the system is created It's kind of hard to change the system And what it has been Since the dawn of time Has been, you know Thin, thin, thin, thin And it started You know, I think it was A European movement And that was typical For European body styles However, with more diversity now Getting into that industry It's almost where They just have to accept The fact that women do have curves And the curvier the better In my opinion I personally have been plus size Since birth I started out Nine pounds, two ounces And I kept going That's what I'm talking about That's what I am talking about So Tell me a little bit about Your backgrounds Have you always wanted to Be In the modeling industry?
Tell me a little bit about Your upbringing Where you was born And where do you see This industry going?
Well, this is Dionne I've been modeling Since I was 15 And I didn't start out I had curves But I was considered A standard size model Okay Here, I'm from Huntsville, Alabama Huntsville That's what I'm talking about Huntsville, Alabama That's what I'm talking about So And, you know I had a It wasn't a great upbringing I'll put it that way Not because of Certain tragedies in my family Okay And, you know There are certain Women in my family that You know They don't know how to Love themselves yet So they projected their Their foolishness onto Our younger generation And I just felt It was a need for me To break the cycle For my family And I just felt Right So, my daughter Actually, she's 6'4 And at 18 years old She's been that size Since she was 11 So, growing up 6'4 You know, I had Yeah Watch out for her On the college court That's what I'm talking about Hey, I got a contract She can sign right now But, as a child You know, she was Always taller than everybody else And people made fun of her And I had to I had to start Actually doing what I do With my family With my company now With her Because I had to reassure her That you're still beautiful You were made this way For a reason And now she sees it And she walks in it And she's reaching back To encourage little girls That look like her So, we have to break the cycle And she's doing that And I can't be prouder Of her right now I just, I'm just Yeah, I'm just goody That's what I'm talking about You sound like a proud mama That's what I'm talking about I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I am I will always be.
Okay, now let me ask you, this is for both of you guys again.
Would either of you consider doing some sort of reality TV, i.e., America's Top Model or a full-figured model in reality show?
Now, and keep in mind that when I say reality TV, a lot of people really don't know that when they say that they're going to film you pretty much all day, it's all day.
Okay?
Because when you sign on that dotted line, okay, and you agree to those cameras following you, there won't be a lot of times where you can say, okay, I can't have this film.
No, you agreed to do that.
So if the opportunity came to do something like that, would you guys be open to it?
I personally would have to think long and hard.
And this is who?
This is who talking?
This is Carrie, I'm sorry.
Okay, all right.
I would have to think long and hard about participating in something like that.
Right.
For several reasons.
I would want to give a good representation of the plus size community.
I represent the pageant.
I represent my own business brand.
I have a family to consider.
So there's a lot to take into consideration.
And considering the fact that reality TV right now does not have the best rap, you know, it would be really hard.
Because let's just be honest.
Doing a reality TV show is great.
But they are going to want some drama.
Yes.
Yeah, you're going to have to have some drama.
Okay.
I don't care if it's manufactured or if it's real, whatever.
But you're going to have to have something for it to be successful.
Created or they created.
Right.
Editing is great.
Right, right.
So that's why.
But, you know, a lot of people will jump to the fact of being on TV.
That's why I thought, you know, now, now, aside for something like that.
What about.
Okay, that's what that's that's if they were to do one about full figure models and you guys.
But what if they wanted to incorporate you guys into the whole America's top model system?
Would you be open to something like that?
Well, they already have because the car was.
Yeah, yeah.
I was thinking about that.
That's the reason why.
Yeah, yeah.
I was thinking about that.
But again, with the way they edit things and I just don't think that I would me personally, I would want to put my family in that position because because everybody's not equipped to deal with that kind of in your face 24 seven.
I'm going to go ahead and say no.
Yeah, because if it's if your name is on the show, you're not going to have any editorial control.
Right, right.
I got you.
I got you.
So I just do my own show.
So, so, Carrie, this is for you.
What advice would you give a young lady listening right now?
This full figured and thinking about modeling and think that they think that this is not a career option for them?
Well, personally, I've just recently and I mean, very recently, you know, I've been in the modeling community for a long time.
I mean, very recently, within a matter of the last couple of months, got into the modeling aspect of the community.
And it took a while for me personally to embrace my size, even though, like I said, I've been like this, you know, pretty much all of my life.
I've always been the tallest one in class.
I've always been a little bit more curvier than a lot of the other girls my age.
But but now with.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
I think the opportunities that are more prevalent now these days, I would definitely encourage anyone that has that kind of an interest.
The first thing, first of all, they have to embrace the curves themselves.
Right.
Not try to get into the modeling world and be a standard size model because your body type is not that long as you're healthy, which is also very important that you are healthy, which I am a healthy plus size woman.
As long as you're healthy and taking care of yourself, there's no reason why they cannot break into this industry and just take it by storm.
There are so many curvy women who are supermodels.
You know, Lyric Cross was on Good Morning America today.
Amen.
She is a model for Ashley Stewart and gorgeous woman and so down to earth.
So, you know, the opportunities are out there.
They just need the role models and and they need to get with a good mentor.
Dion is my mentor.
We haven't mentioned that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
OK.
Dion is actually my mentor as far as modeling is concerned.
So I'm super excited to be on here tonight with her.
OK.
And Dion, I got a question for you.
Well, not a question, but a comment.
I was told that you have a day named after you in Huntsville, Alabama.
Tell me about that.
You got a day named after you?
I have a whole day.
It's full figure for your stay in the city of Huntsville, Alabama.
Can I run through there and get a and run a couple of red lights or whatever?
I mean, just throw your name out there.
I mean, I mean, what's up?
I mean, you know, you got your day.
I mean, come on.
I want to get a ticket.
That's just throw Dion name out there.
No, no, no, no.
Just want to run a couple of red lights.
That's all.
No, but as a gift for my second anniversary last year.
Right.
One of my friends, she's a big fan of mine.
She's a big fan of mine.
She's a big fan of mine.
She's a big fan of mine.
She's a big fan of mine.
So one of my big sisters went to the mayor and told him my story and told him about the organization and you know, why I'm so passionate about, you know, inspiring other people and helping other people.
It's a legacy for my dad, rest in peace, daddy, who his legacy that he left for me was you help people when they need help.
It doesn't matter what you have to do about it.
Just help them.
Right.
Make it happen.
So that's when he passed away, that was that was very that stuck with me along with his music.
But that stuck with me.
So when I started Full Figure Theater, she was one of my the girl who actually did it was one of my first, I guess, mentees, I guess is the way to say it.
And she went to the mayor and told him about it all.
And he gave me my own day.
Got your own day.

And I'm fine, fine, under cloud nine.

But it's so much stronger when it's in its natural state.
And I'm fine, fine, under cloud nine.

I want to tell what the prizes are, but Cornd told me to shut my mouth.
Don't tell it.
Don't tell it.
So I appreciate you calling in and call in again, okay?
Absolutely.
Be blessed.
All right, thanks.
That's what I'm talking about.
The love, the love.
So, as promised, we got Miss Cassie Betts in the studio, y'all.
A round of applause for Miss Cassie Betts.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
So, Miss Cassie Betts, you are the owner and founder of a company called District 2, right?
Yes.
Won't you tell our viewers a little bit about District 2 and, I mean, what is it and how are you impacting this whole fashion industry out here?
Okay.
Come on now.
District 2 is a fashion tech company.
Yes.
It's an online platform that connects fashion designers and apparel brand owners with their contractors or their factories.
Right.
So basically on our site right now, like if you were starting a line or you had a line and you were looking, you could go on and post a project on there.
And then factories or contractors would bid on the project.
So that's what we are right now at present.
And yeah, we're looking to take the tech world by storm and change the game in the fashion industry.
So when did you start this company?
And tell me about your staff, how many people you have and how you're working with them.
And what their roles and duties are.
Okay.
Started a year ago and it was just started with myself and my co-founder who actually a very strange way we met.
He founded the number one web and software development company out of the Ukraine.
So he came here to start a web dev company here in LA and we ended up connecting.
We met each other on Craigslist of all places.
Oh, okay.
Everything weird, but like we were both looking for a partner and I was just looking online at whatever websites I could find, trying to find a partner and connected with him.
So he was the first and then came one of his partners from Ukraine also.
So I have this whole like Ukrainian team going on, web developers.
My CFO is from Ukraine, actually just came back from Barcelona, meeting with them.
But here in LA, we have a group of about 15, 15 people that work.
Everyone works for stock options because we're a startup.
That's what I'm talking about.
So stock options and some people do receive a small bit of pay because we did start generating revenue in July.
So that was amazing because a year ago we started the company and to work for like a whole year and like there was about five of us working for about a year with like no pay.
And so to start generating revenue, I mean you make- You gotta start somewhere.
Well, we made that money.
That first like thousand dollars, we were like balling.
You got to believe in the dream.
Yeah.
Okay.
Absolutely.
Please believe in my dream.
That's startup life.
Yeah, but that's who we are.
I mean, we have a social media director, Philip Banks.
Yes, like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
That's what I was about to say.
I swear to God, I was about to say that.
I was about to say that.
And I was hoping you were gonna bring him so he can do that dance.
Yeah.
I mean, the Carlton.
He better be listening.
I gave him a shout out.
But there's a whole crew of us.
So Philip, I got a nephew named Carlton and he's gonna bust a dance for you.
No, I'm just playing.
He's been working particularly hard.
Okay, all right.
In addition to my co-founder and I, because he has a, he runs the Youth Initiative that we have in South Central, where those, the youth there at an inner city charter school say a charter school, actually, we train them to do our social media marketing.
And we train them in content creation and coding.
We introduce them to coding.
We just wanted to introduce the youth to technology, basically.
Gotcha.
So, yeah, he works diligently in that youth initiative.
So what is your day-to-day functions?
And then what, if any, schooling and training did you have in this particular field?
Okay, which one do you want me to answer first?
Both, both, both.
Okay, day-to-day functions.
Oh, man, it varies drastically.
Like I said, I was in Barcelona, and my co-founder and I were up until like 2, 3 in the morning working on our new product features.
So in technology, you're constantly evolving your website.
You know, I mean, websites in the tech world, I mean, can range from $100,000 to millions of dollars that people spend on web development because you're always like paying people to constantly evolve it.
So it can go from that to Indie Face Radio.
That's what I'm talking about.
Plug me, plug me.
To a fashion show, like during Fashion Week, we get to do, you know, the fun stuff.
The glamorous stuff, fashion shows and photo shoots and that type of thing.
It must be fun.
I mean, it's fun, but it's a lot of hard work.
I can imagine.
The kids, well, they're not really kids, but the youth that work with us, you know, they get to do a lot of fun stuff like sit in front row at a fashion show.
Of course.
But also, you know, we're grinding.
We have to go out and cover different events that we do, or they just, you know, sit in the office and come up with content and work in focus.
And we have to be honest about our learnings because we're learning all day long because we love learning and learning all day long because we love learning and learning all day long because we love learning and learning all day long because we love learning and learning and learning all day long because we love learning and learning all day long because because we love learning and learning all day long because we love learning and learning It just varies from day to day.
I meet with VCs and angel investors and, you know, talk about fundraising.
And I have a lot of mentors and advisors that help me along this route.
And they help us all to teach us and train us.
And they've been there, done that, you know.
I mean, I'm very blessed to be able to pull together a team that is dedicated as though I'm paying them six figures.
You know, so that is a blessing.
And, yeah, so like I said, my day to day varies.
As far as training, I've been working in the fashion industry since 98.
I went to FITM, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and majored in fashion design.
So I have, I started, yeah, like intern below the bottom, you know, begging people to hire me for free.
You know, that's.
Because it's, there's a lot of competition in the fashion industry.
And you have to just want it and love it.
And I mean, from the bottom, like I would come home like dirty.
And I'd be like, man, this is the fashion industry.
I'm just like filthy.
But I loved it.
And I worked my way up to, yeah, all the way up through corporate America.
I was a designer for a company called Jerry Lee that did all the licensing for like Disney.
So I was one of the main designers for like all of like Disney princesses.
And then I also worked on Bratz and like all the like kids' stuff in Target.
And that was really cool to see all my stuff like on the roundabout at Target or JC Penney or whatever.
And then all the little girls wearing it.
It was, it was really cool experience.
And then I've worked for denim companies, a lot of different companies.
Because I just, I wanted to, in a lot of different positions also.
Because I wanted to understand the game of the whole fashion industry game.
Because I always knew I wanted to do something to change the game.
to change a game, you got to like understand the game, you know?
It's like I had this fifth grade basketball coach that made us play every position because he was like, if you want to change a game, you better know every position, you know?
So I was a pattern maker.
I was a sewer.
I was, you know, a production manager and merchandiser designer, like every position I could take because I really wanted to understand how it all worked.
I didn't know I was going to go into tech and do it to this capacity.
But I'm glad I learned all that I did.
And yeah, I pretty much, I would say I'm pretty much an expert in the fashion industry.
16 years now, is it?
Is it 17?
I tell you what, let's take a little break and then when we come back, let's talk a little bit more about your industry and your company and everything you're doing.

You know, it's hosted by the comedian Speedy.
So that's going to be a hot one for you guys on Friday, February 13th.
Day before Thanksgiving.
I mean, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or what is it?
Valentine's Day.
I got screwed off for all the holidays.
Now, we still got Cassie Betts in the building.
And I tell you what, she was telling y'all about this fashion industry, what she's doing, what she's doing up in there.
And Cassie, let me ask you this.
Influences, mentors, in the industry?
Yeah, absolutely.
Who?
Yeah.
Well, one of them.
Tell me a few of them.
Okay.
One of my main, in the fashion industry, would be Ala Kasia, who...
Ala Kasia.
Ala Kasia.
He's an interesting character.
He's an Afro.
Tell me about him.
This big.
Ala, who's Kasia?
But, Ala Kasia, Kasia comes from, in Europe, he was a designer.
He was actually a ghost designer for, like, you could say, Laurent, Chanel, Ungaro.
I was thinking Cassie, the ghost.
You see, I brought it back.
My little humor, but it's okay.
So, anyway, back in those days, he couldn't, you know, he had non-disclosures, and he couldn't, you know, say, you know, that he did all these designs for these, you know, amazing design houses.
But his, recently, his NDAs are up.
His confidentiality, you know, contracts are up.
So, he's doing, like, a documentary about it and everything.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
Yeah, he kind of took me under his wing as, like, he calls me his goddaughter.
So, he's like a godfather to me.
And, yeah, I've actually been wanting him to come on the team for a long time.
And his name is what again?
Ala Kasia.
How do you spell that?
A-L-A-K-A-S-A.
K-A-Z-I-A.
Okay.
Ala Kasia.
So, yeah, he's one of my main mentors in the fashion industry.
He keeps it real.
And, you know, like, he knows his stuff.
And what's interesting is I worked for him.
We did a Raven-Symoné line together, and I worked for him.
And now it's kind of weird for him to work for me because he's in a mentorship position.
So, now he's actually our creative director at District 2.
And he's rocking and rolling.
And I'm very happy to have him on the team.
Happy, blessed.
And, yeah, that's, you know, one of my main mentors.
There's been so many.
Joe Ruzan is a mentor here in L.A.
A lot of people know him.
He works for the city of L.A.
in the economic workforce development.
He's connected me to a lot of people here in the city as well.
And, like I said, there's really too many advisors and mentors to name in the eight minutes we have left.
Well, I'll tell you what.
You talked about you traveling to different regions.
How is...
Because now when you travel to these different areas, are you going there for different fashion weeks and things of...
Because I don't know how that plays.
I know New York has one.
L.A.
has one.
Paris has one, right?
France has one.
So, when you're traveling to these different areas, are you dealing with...
Are you...
Are you involved with designers, per se, like hands-on?
Are you involved with that whole fashion week?
I'm more...
I don't get to do the glamorous part as much because I'm more involved in the...
There's a fashion industry and there's a garment industry.
The fashion is New York fashion week.
Gotcha, gotcha.
Photography, it's glamorous.
Garment industry...
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down.
You're breaking it down to me now.
Yeah.
Okay, all right, all right.
Garment industry is the factories, the sewing, the patterns.
Oh, okay.
You know, I'm more involved in the garment industry because those fashion people, they need garment manufacturers.
But do you travel with those?
When I travel, I...
Like, for example, Columbia, the government of Columbia flew me to Columbia a couple months ago to visit a bunch...
About 13 different factories in one week we visited.
And, you know, I get to see what they do, their minimums, their costs.
I, you know, ask them a bunch of questions.
And that's what I do when I travel.
I want to go see the factories because District 2 is connecting mostly American designers, mostly Indian American designers, to factories both in L.A.
and domestically in the United States, but mostly globally because these Indian designers, they have, like, $5,000.
And they're going to, you know, make 50 of, you know, six different T-shirts.
And so their budget is low.
They have to go overseas and get it made if they want to.
They want to really, you know, get the most bang for their buck.
So, yeah, so we're into traveling.
I specifically go to travel because I want to, you know, see, touch, meet the people that own these factories and be able to vouch for them.
But, yeah, we're global.
Well, I'll tell you what, you know, we must have you back on.
You know, time just flew by.
We got to have you back on to talk.
Because, you know, there's two big, you know, the LA Fashion Week here is twice a year.
And we, me and my team go out there, you know, we don't know.
We're just watching the ladies, you know.
It's all good.
Yeah, I sent our youth initiative.
They love it.
Because I've been enough times.
I appreciate you coming in with us on Total View Control and the Indie Face Radio.
And we would love to have you back on.
Okay.

And one last question before we go.
Any upcoming projects that you are working on that people need to be?
Checking out for or any new designers, especially in LA.
Can you name drop a few that people might not know about that they need to go?
Maybe some shops, you know, websites that you know for a fact are hot here in LA.
Well, some of the designers that we're working with is The Leak Company, a young guy out of South LA.
We're really trying to promote South LA and South LA designers.
Vintage Denim is another one.
Siva Swimwear is out of Los Angeles.
So, yeah, you know, they're young and ready to get it.
And, yeah, those are the names I'm going to drop.

I'm going to try to figure out exactly what day he can schedule you to come back in.
Because we definitely have to have you back.
And I would love to maybe if we have time and space, bring some models in and do some stuff, you know?
Mm-hmm.
I would also like to discuss further, like, diversity in the tech industry and the lack of it.
And, you know, what I have done to knock down those doors.
Right.
To get into it.
To get into the tech industry.
It was not easy.
