Neighborhood Love Radio.
We are the musical extension of neighborhood-love.com.
I come to you this Sunday as I do every Sunday, live from Skid Row Studios.
Thank you so much, loved ones, for joining me.
Loved ones, upon hearing Bob Dylan's Blown in the Wind, in 1963, Sam Cooke was greatly moved by such a poignant song about racism in America.
I decided to write a song about the Civil Rights Movement at the time.
The tune is called A Change Is Gonna Come by Mr. Sam Cooke.
The song was released one year after his death.
I was born by the river In a little tent Oh, and just like that Like the river I've been running Ever since It's been a long A long time coming But I know A change gonna come Oh, yes, it will It's been too hard living But I'm afraid to die Cause I don't know what's up there Beyond the sky It's been a long A long time coming But I know A change gonna come Oh, yes, it will I go to the movies And I go downtown Somebody keep telling me Don't hang around It's been a long A long time coming But I know A change gonna come Oh, yes, it will Oh, yes, it will Oh, yes, it will Then I go to my brother And I say, brother, help me please But he winds up Knocking me Back down on my knees And I say, brother, help me please Back down on my knees Back down on my knees Back down on my knees Back down on my knees Back down on my knees Oh, there been times That I thought I couldn't last for long But now I think I'm able To carry on It's been a long A long time coming But I know A change gonna come Oh, yes, it will A change gonna come sad only mother nature knows no stories unwise we fall in love each morning when you open your new eyes keep smiling just like an angel tiny fingertips touching your mind only mother nature knows no stories unwise we fall in love the first time that we've heard you suffering cry open your eyes to the morning won't you open your eyes to the morning of new life open your eyes to the morning of new life open your eyes to the morning of new life open your eyes to the morning of new life Open your eyes to the morning, won't you?

Only mother nature knows, knows to be someone.
You fall in love each morning when you open your eyes.
Open your new eyes.
Smiling just like an angel.
Tons of fingertips touching mine.
Only mother nature knows, knows to be someone.

Are you...
Are you Percussion Group?
Stands for Harlem Youth.
Percussion Group, and it's an extension of the Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited Group.
That is a 1967 tune.
Harlem Youth Opportunities came out of...
Sort of a move.
This is all post-1964 Harlem riots.
And there's a lot of bullshit going on, like I was talking about at the beginning of the show.
In that particular part of the country and elsewhere.
So they come up with this band, the Har-U Percussion Group, just sort of a unifying, all-inclusive kind of musical project.
That's the music.
that's out on True Thoughts Records, the best of Quantic from 2011.
And before that, we heard Bank Robber by Smooth Beans for The Clash Goes Jamaican.
Complete LP of reggae covers of Clash songs.
You can find that on the Golden Singles Records.
www.thegoldensinglesrecords.bandcamp.com or, of course, like I mentioned, on iTunes.
And Amazon.
Love, loved ones, right behind me here, Odyssey.
How about a little bit of real lyrics?
The most realist lyrics from Jill Scott.
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.
Hello.
me all night, all morning, so our stomachs were growling hungrily.
So I jumped up and rushed to the store in hopes of coming back and getting a little more this morning's good extra loving.
At the market, the people were pushing and shoving, trying to be the next in line.
The term was mine.
The new girl at the counter was cute, not as fine as me.
Was this some kind of women's intuition, some kind of insecurity?
Nah, because my man is happy at home loving me exclusively.
So I shook my head.
What's up?
Hello.
She smiled.
She hung me up.
Orange juice, $3.29.
Croissants, $4.85.
She sniffed.
Butter, $0.89.
She sniffed.
Strawberry.
A dollar fifty a pint.
She sniffed and sniffed and sniffed and sniffed again and then replied, Rahim, right?
Right.
Tonight, we're taking a flight.
And the stars are on our side.
Tonight, we'll take you to the sky.
